Build Thread Of A Clean And Sparkly 5K

i pick this 5k up cheap. ran it in ke55 for 3 months with a blown hg (pressurizing the coolant system and EPIC blowing smoke) while my warm 4k was being built.

pulled like a school boy! i ran some serious thick engine oil/gearbox oil to try keep the smoke down. it kinda worked :lolcry:. its been sitting on the garage floor the past 5 months doing nothing so i was thinking of rebuilding her and selling it. trolling thru ebay, i found 2 5k gasket kits CHEAP!. ordered them in and they arvived today. as soon as i got home (around 6ish) i put the motor on the stand and started ripping her apart inspecting her. i started packing up my tools at 7:45 LOL!

i had some troble removing the harmonic balancer without a rattle gun. tried jamming a screwdriver threw it etc etc until i got a brain fart

use a headbolt/some random thing and a socket to hold the piston down while i undid it. worked a treat!

most of the bearings looked ok. rings looked FORKED but lmao

New bearings.. no matter how good they look. New pistons and rings... look for verticle wear marks on the piston skirts. Rattle!

Twin timing kit, ports as big as my mouth and cam the size of my balls! :lolcry: or WD40 it and put it back together. That would be dirty....

...looks lean on 2 and 4. Or is that from the HG.
