SLO-030 Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 so is the sc14 or the sc12 better i went the 14 so it will spin slower and create less temp theoreticaly well thats in my head haha Sc14 will be better as it delivers more air per revolution. So, to produce the same amount of "boost" (flow of air) it will have to rotate fewer times. Quote
Mitch-12 Posted June 26, 2011 Author Report Posted June 26, 2011 yeah thats my idea behing having it and also since it is spinning slower to produce same psi as sc12 it might run cooler Quote
Rob 5000 Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 July eh, well that will give you a couple of months to practise for the bit Corolla showdown when I get back :) Quote
SLO-030 Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 yeah thats my idea behing having it and also since it is spinning slower to produce same psi as sc12 it might run cooler Thats it man. "Boost" is the pressure of the air built up that the engine can't "swallow". So if you were to spin an SC12 to supply 20psi. Then you upgraded to an SC14 you'd have to spin it slower to keep the boost at the same figure. Quote
Mitch-12 Posted June 26, 2011 Author Report Posted June 26, 2011 yeah ill try and learn about what temps they fail at and have a air temp sensor before the intercooler so i know how hot the charger is :) Quote
Mitch-12 Posted June 26, 2011 Author Report Posted June 26, 2011 Rob its on and i got slicks now hehe Quote
Mitch-12 Posted June 26, 2011 Author Report Posted June 26, 2011 anyone know what temp they melt at Quote
Redwarf Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 Soooooo..... let me get this straight. You're taking that black thing with no cage on slicks to Winton. Is this a club day, and does the car have to get through scrutineering? Quote
Rob 5000 Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 you don't have to have a cage to run at winton. It doesnt matter how somethng looks its if its safe mechanically and with appropriate seat, seat belt, extinguisher etc. I've scruitneered that car a couple of times for events already and it aint pretty but it gets a tick mechanically. Quote
Redwarf Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 I've been out of the round and round stuff for a few years, but it used to be that you couldn't run slicks without a cage. Which, oddly enough, I agree with. That was CAMS, I'm assuming this is AASA being Winton? Quote
Rob 5000 Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 Yes its AASA, i havent scrutineered it for circuit racing so you could be right on that regulation. Quote
Mitch-12 Posted June 26, 2011 Author Report Posted June 26, 2011 i think its fround upon but for sprint series and tampered day you can run without a cage i don't really know usually I'm in a v8 supercar it has a cage so yeah Quote
Mitch-12 Posted June 26, 2011 Author Report Posted June 26, 2011 it hasnt got much power so it wont be super fast Quote
ninja-philbo Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 it will be quick with the charger man just get a half cage man ud be shocked how quick a car will roll just takes one little bit of oversteer u shit hit the brakes tires grab and throws the thing on its side. has happened to alot of people man, tap the ripple strip and rolls cage will save ur life man Quote
Redwarf Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 (edited) It's not the "no cage" bit that concerns me. Many sprint series run without manditory cages. It's the slicks and no cage that you may have issues with. That said, I can't find anything about it in the current CAMS manual. (yes, I know, AASA....) Do the Supp Regs for the event have anything t say about it? Edited June 27, 2011 by Redwarf Quote
