Yeah fair comment, my idea has kinda grown a bit since i first got the car, i'm really going with more of a street/race theme now, I was also thinking about changing the rims to some 14" hotwires down the track as well

Maybe i should change the title haha

Edit: I don't know how to change the title :bash:

Picked up my seats today and i can't wait to get them in. I got two of them, Recaro copies, black with silver stitching(looks better in the flesh that the photo), ADR Aproved i'll test fit them while the dash is getting re skinned. Then after the dash is done put in the new carpet and re fit the seats

Good to see you getting into it Andrew, gauges look sweet. I'm looking forward to seeing some more progress, let me know if you need a hand with turning the manuel gearbox speedo drive into an electric signal to run the Autmeter speedo gauge. There are a few places that can install a small unit that does this and calibrate it to suit your car about $220 from memory.

Hey Mick

thanks mate i looove those gauges, i bought the sender unit to go with the speedo so i just have to adapt it to the gearbox. A good mate of mine is going to wire up all the gauges for me, he is a genius when it comes to that kind of stuff but if i get stuck ill give you a call

I also finally found someone to re skin the dash so we are pulling it out this saturday WOOOHOOO

The next few weeks will be packed with progress, dash getting re skinned, gauges will go in, new carpet has been ordered so that will go in and then the seats.

I also bought some awesome door trim material, very race style and is a very close match to the seats as well

Will post plenty of pics as the progress happens and i will try to do a bit of a write up on the gauge install for a reference for others, i found surprisingly little info on the subject especially on the speedo so will post as much info as i can

I'm EXCITED

Alright so i am now finally underway with the interior, pulled out the dash, took the door cards off and pulled the front seats out.

The dash is going in for the re skin on monday, will probably take a week to get done then i can get working on the gauges

I'll start making up the door cards tomorrow and work on getting the seats mounted during the week

Unfotuntly discovered that the seatbelt clips are actually attached to the original seats ao ill have to make up a bracket for those too :bash:

More pics of the door cards to follow tomorrow

Got some good progress happening today, i got all 4 door cards made up today

Huge thanks to my beautiful wife for her handywork (she did basically all of the coverwork) and they came up beautifully

I will get them fitted during the week (Car is al my mates place so couldn't get them on today)

So i bought the material the other day, i just had to get the backing timder and a few tools which i ran around and got this morning.

Then i traced the original door cards onto the new mdf and cut just inside the traceline to ensure correct fitment

  • 4 weeks later...

Ok so its been a while since i posted any progress, it has been a little slow just trying to get the time but progress has been steady

The dash hes been reskinned and it looks so freakin awesome words cannot describe. After being quoted $900 for a back to factory reskin i took my dash instead to Daz at 'Stitched Up' at Tuggerah and he did the best job on it. So much better and suits the style of the car better and only cast $600

The top has been fibreglassed and all other imperfections and bumps and dips that wern't needed and then has vinyl baseball seam stitched over the surfaces so the surround around the guage cluster and any corners all have this seam stitch

It looks great but unfortunatley you can't see the stitching very well in the photos

Anyway after that was finished i made the aluminium facia for the gauges and that is now ready for clean up and having the indicator lights, park brake light and high beam light installed that is where i am up to in the below photo

I have also mounted the drivers seat so just need to do passenger seat then i can do the carpet

A few photos to date
