Usual stuff, all well-documented on here.

Carbs- twin SUs, Weber d'draught or DCOE sidedraught. Finding manifolds is the problem.

Cam- plenty of people cut cams for them.

Exhaust- You can still buy new extractors.

Head skim to raise compression.

..and if you do city driving grab a diff from an auto, they are lower geared so accelerate faster.

You could always rebore it to 1500cc and fit 5K pistons if its pretty tired.

mostly 2nd hand, keep an eye on ebay, classifieds on here, other forums etc.

Cam- plenty of people cut cams for them.

crow cams, wade cams, crane cams (i googled 'cams australia'), crow and wade seem popular.

Exhaust- You can still buy new extractors.

exhaust shop, or look for 2nd hand items on ebay, classifieds on here etc. then go to exhaust shop for the rest.

Head skim to raise compression.

take head off, drop off at machinist, pick up few days laterm, bolt back on.

search for the tech article "how to build a tough k motor" lots of good stuff in there!

this is a good idea too.

You really need to do some research.

Anyway, here comes the aeroplane.

249 plus postage is the price. That's how much they cost.

Carbs: They fit Weber DCOE, Dellorto DHLA or side draft Solex. New you're looking at $550 per carb for Webers, or you can pick up a pair second hand for $500 or so. Second hand sets should be rebuilt to be safe.

You MUST get these dyno'd once they're fitted to match chokes and jetting. Near enough is not good enough with side drafts.

Plus linkages and filters.

For a complete set-up budget $1500 for second hand set-up or $2000 new.

If you're in Qld I'm pretty sure you can't do this and remain P-plate legal.
