ROLLN'03 Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 Last night me and a mate did an all night run and installed his new suspension into his corolla..... After all the troubles we had, we finally were all finished by 1:30pm.... On the drive home, he was following along a normal street and we were doing around 80..... As i was driving along, i came up to a cross road with a stop sign going the other way....... To my surprise, a Blue Cobra went flying through the stop sign, didnt even look, or even attempt to stop.... He must of been doing "at least" 100 - 120 kph!... I briefly saw him cross my path, and slammed on the brakes. I locked up, and almost just nipped the rear of his car.... a few minutes before we stopped on the side of the road to check my friends suspension..... THE GODS MUST HAVE BEEN WITH ME!..... At worst, i could have clipped him and we both could have either rolled, or ended up in someones house..... :) Quote
Dan Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 Bloody hell thats too close for comfort! Quote
Tiger Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 EEEK!! (Tiger becomes a White Tiger from shock) Too close is an understatement! That could've been very nasty, mate! Someone upstairs like ya.. no doubt about that one! :) Quote
MissSydneyCruising Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 I had a similar incident recently. I slowed for a quiet (yet big) roundabout in the middle of the night with my ex in the car... didnt see anything coming, so I went through the roundabout. i just got over the white line when a lx torana comes screaming in my direction at full throttle (about 100km/h)... I could either stop, or keep going, and in my stupidity i kept going... lucky enough the sera could handle a foot to the floor and got up and moved, otherwise I wouldn't be here to tell the tale. One of those split second moments "if I stop, ill be in his way and ill die" so i kept going. Scary as all hell!!!!!!!!!!! so I know where your coming from! Quote
kangaroosa Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 I've had two moments like yours. The first was in my mates XY. I took off from a set of lights with a VT infront of me. The next thing i see is a Gemini slam into the rear gaurd of the VT (approx 2m from me) Thats was bloody scary....especially the noise. The Gemini drived claimed he had a green light, so he t-boned the VT at approx 60km/h. The second time I was at a red light at a cross intersection. My light turned green and i had just started to roll, when a bloody Sigma came flying through at warp speed. He sped through about 1m from the front of my car. So after i gathered myself, i started to hunt him down but lost him at a set of lights. On that instance, i was ready to do serious damage to that bloke. Quote
Fayt Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 when we were holidaying on the mainland, as we were driving down the highway, these c**ts in a light blue holden ute (probably stolen) came SCREAMIN up from behind us and as they got near the back of our car, they saw the nice shiny commodore we were in, pulled out to the next lane next to us, and decided to try and side-swipe us fron the rear and turn us around, ON A BUSY f@$kIN HIGHWAY GOING 110kmph!!!! But luckily with my dads 30 years plus racing experience he saw what they were about to do and move just before they were gonna hit us, we then breaked, the blue ute went ahead of us, we were beaping at them like there was no 2moro, then as they speed of the passenger gave us th finger, c**ts!!! they then turned off the highway, probably to do another round and try and spin some other poor bastard Quote
ancullen Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 f@$k me there are some morons on the road! You guys have all had some damned close calls from the sound of things. Quote
sami Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 f@$k me there are some morons on the road! You guys have all had some damned close calls from the sound of things. I live in an area where families tend to be well off and parents give their children cars as gifts and insure them to the highest value - not saying that my family is well off as everything I have, I have worked just as hard as everyone here to own - the close calls I have come across there are way to many to mention as the drivers don't value the "gifts" that their parents give them. The stunts I have seen them pull and the excuses I have heard telling their parents and the police are absolutely shocking to my 21 year old mind and the worst thing is the parents say oh well and go back to the prestige car dealer the next day to buy another car for someone who didn't value the first one in the first place. I know this is going to keep happening cuz as long as people have lots of money things just don't have the same meaning to the people who work for it. But it does not only relate to young drivers I have seen some older people pull pretty shocking stunts. A license is a privilege not a right. Quote
Dan Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 Damn, Rollaclub has some LUCKY members! Quote
mikeys toy[RL] Posted December 18, 2005 Report Posted December 18, 2005 first; i don't believe in luck....things happen for a reason....that is all i have to say about that. (forrest gump) i bought my "mates" girlfriend's 1981 datsun 210 (sunny) because it had a near new a15 5speed and it looked like it would fit the cricket i got it running right, chopped the roof off of it, and beat the shit outta it untill the rego expired. one night i was getting froggy with my buddy, mark in his '81 datsun 200sx (skyline? bluebird?) anyway, we were where we weren't supposed to be dirt drifting for like 5 hours, and we started racing towards the one gate out he took the road at the top of the levee, i took the low road (and i'll be in scotland befor ye...) he was beating me (as always) and suddenly there was something in the road that wasn't there 5hrs ago, i was going 70mph on gravel when i hit a pile of broken up concreted cinderblock (an old wishing well) my ass left the seat and i started to exit the car but my ankle was caught between the clutch pedal and the front left tire which was now in the passenger compartment. my hip hit the top of the right door an bent it out in a half moon and snapped the glass we went back the next day an viewed the tiremarks: when i hit the pile there were no more tiremarks for about 10 feet. then there was one ragged one for about 20 feet, then there were 3 and then a big old mess so i figure the car hit the pile, went into the air at an angle, landed on two wheels, the cam down on the others and spun out. it SHATTERED BOTH left side wheels, bent the axle housing, sheared the inner fender from the firewall, put the left front tire/wheel THROUGH the fenderwell (where my foot was resting) the Lord saved my ass, not to mention theankle bieng caught Quote
Dan Posted December 18, 2005 Report Posted December 18, 2005 Hey that reminds me of a time when i was out riding on the dirt bike, i was fairly flogging it in about 5th gear powerband through 2-3 ft grass, all of a sudden a old pig trough was in front of me, so i automatically tried popping the clutch, instead making me more unstable because it bogged down, i hit it full force, it bent my forks, f@$ked my front rim, and my back, 'might' have bent the dropouts (never looked properly, wanted to forget about it)... was so sore by the end of it.. i'll tell you, that bloody thing hurt. I was so lucky i didnt hurt myself badly.. concrete blocks suck! Anyone else had experiences like that on a dirt bike.. hang on, does anyone ride? Quote
ancullen Posted December 18, 2005 Report Posted December 18, 2005 I steer clear of bikes. My last attempt to ride one included me trying to ride it up over a kerb. I gave myself plenty of time to slow down, tried to pull back on the handbrake and accidently reefed back on the accelerator. Luckily I still had enough room to try again, but did the same thing, mounted the kerb and almost lost it, but somehow managed to stay upright. The worst part was there were about ten people watching, most of whom I didn't know, and they were all pissing themselves laughing at my feeble attempt to ride. Never again (at least not on a dirt bike anyway). Quote
