ancullen Posted June 4, 2007 Author Report Posted June 4, 2007 I'll pass on the parts for now thanks. I'm hoping to go for a new aircon, but it'll depend on the cost. It's a long way off that yet anyway. As for the dash parts, I may get in touch with you at a later date about them, but for now I should be okay - we've got HEAPS of KE70/AE71's getting around up here. I would love to convert to the early model KE70 front MUCH later down the track though. That or a twin-headlight setup of some kind. I never used to like the twin-headlight thing, but Teddy, you inspired me. And as for the bodykit, I mean the AJPS front lip. I don't know if there's skirts available for the KE70/AE71. I might have to mock something up, or maybe look at adapting some AE86 parts to suit. Quote
ancullen Posted June 4, 2007 Author Report Posted June 4, 2007 May have just lined up a set of Blacktop quad throttles for myself. :bash: Not certain yet, but it'll be cool if I get them. Quote
ancullen Posted June 4, 2007 Author Report Posted June 4, 2007 Was just doing some research and found that I won't have to change to 20v style injectors if I change to 20v quad throttles, so I'll still be able to use the 440cc 7M-GTE injectors I've had sitting around for ages. Also considering possibly using an aftermarket pulley of some kind - more on that later. :bash: Quote
ancullen Posted June 13, 2007 Author Report Posted June 13, 2007 Waiting on bigport heads to be sent from Brisbane so I can pick them up in Darwin. Investigating the cost of a custom intake manifold & plenum for the quad throttles. As of next week I will not owe any money for previously purchased parts, so I will book the KE55 in for suspension work. With any luck the guy I'll be taking the car to will be able to find what is causing the issues I've been having and fix them. If all goes to plan I'll have the car on the track for the next race meet I can attend, which is at the end of August. Ideally at this time the car will have the RX7 front brake setup, but that will depend on what needs fixing in the car to resolve its current issues. Quote
ancullen Posted June 13, 2007 Author Report Posted June 13, 2007 Nothing wrong with the engine, just the car's handling. The front likes to jump up and down a fair bit, and it's made FAR worse under brakes. Quote
ancullen Posted July 3, 2007 Author Report Posted July 3, 2007 I have had an offer from someone for a set of Yokohama Advan semi-slicks (195/60 R14's). They have only been used twice, and I'm getting them for about $300 (they're $250/tyre new). So at the next race meet (end of August), I will have the lowered suspension and these semi-slicks on. I'm hoping to see the lap time drop below 1min32. It will be good that I'll have these tyres, as my mate Anthony will have new Dunlop semi-slicks on his S2000 at this meet as well, so at least I won't be put to shame too badly. I did consider holding onto the semi-slicks until I've completed other upgrades as I had planned, but I'm not certain I'll be able to fit 14" rims over my bigger brakes (once I've upgraded), so I may as well use them now and see how much of a difference they make. I know one guy has gone to (very) second-hand semi-slicks on his WRX and dropped 7 (SEVEN!!!) seconds off his lap time, but he hadn't been on the track many times before that, so it was probably driver improvement as much as the tyres. Another (far more experienced) person apparently dropped two seconds in his SW20 3S-GE MR2 by switching to Advans (new ones) from regular sport tyres. I'd like to see a two-three second drop in my times, which I think is reasonable. Any more than that and I'll be super stoked! Quote
lappy Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 Let us know how much you lap times drop. I wish I had a track not too far away from me :lolcry: Have you sorted those suspension issues? Quote
ancullen Posted July 4, 2007 Author Report Posted July 4, 2007 It'll be going in either this weekend or not long after to have them sorted. I'll let you know what the issues are when they've been resolved, and I'll definitely be posting an update on lap times and how much they change by. It's a pity there'll be two modifications happening at once so I won't be able to tell how much effect each one has respectively, but it's not a big deal. Quote
ancullen Posted July 10, 2007 Author Report Posted July 10, 2007 Lola will be going in this Saturday for the suspension work - forgot to arrange time off work for Saturday just gone. Someone up here is selling some slotted S13 front rotors, the late model 280mm type. I've put in an offer as S13 rotors are already 4x114.3 stud pattern, are the PERFECT thickness for RX7 calipers, and as I'm already going to need a custom bracket for the RX7 calipers, I may as well get it to suit a good brake rotor. Quote
ancullen Posted July 15, 2007 Author Report Posted July 15, 2007 Project White Rider is being canned. Michelle the AE71 is being sold. I hadn't planned on selling her, but got an offer over the weekend and decided it would be for the best, as I didn't actually plan on starting work on it for a while - especially not with the TA22 to get ready. I have also been tempted to get Lola road registered - we'll see what happens. Quote
ancullen Posted July 22, 2007 Author Report Posted July 22, 2007 f@$k!!! Took Lola out on Sunday to do a motorkhana. I drove her back down off the trailer, went to drive forwards and BANG!!! Two of the bolts holding the tailshaft to the diff had come free and a third bent and fell out as a result. Luckily the fourth stayed in place (but was stretched or loosened), so the bang came from the tailshaft rotating around the diff. The tailshaft is dented, but otherwise seems okay. Unfortunately, due to the massive number of problems I was having (including a shoe blow-out and navigator issues) I slammed shut the driver's door on the car, resulting in the window shattering. :lolcry: I don't know my own strength!!! Luckily I have two good spare windows, but cleaning the glass up is going to be a pain in the arse. Not my favourite birthday. :) :lolcry: Quote
lappy Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 we've all had days like that makes you  Quote
ancullen Posted July 23, 2007 Author Report Posted July 23, 2007 Mmm. Oh well, as long as the Starlet stays good for the Rejex Rally I'm happy - that's the only event I'm really worried about atm. Quote
