B.L.Z.BUB Posted April 25, 2012 Author Report Posted April 25, 2012 Got stuck into it, re gapped the new plugs, hooked up the temp gauge, remounted the voltmeter. Hooked blue LED's into the gauges. Rewired my rear speakers. Tried to rewire the horn but its poked, need a new one. A bit of blood for good measure Quote
rian Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 So is the engine running properly now? Water temp sensor install looks good. I think I'm going to install mine like that too. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted April 25, 2012 Author Report Posted April 25, 2012 Um, yes and no. Its running(ish). Gonna go to the shops soon, see how it goes. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted April 25, 2012 Author Report Posted April 25, 2012 Hmm, still not running right. Moltovs? Or *sigh* mechanic? Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted April 25, 2012 Author Report Posted April 25, 2012 (edited) So I'll start it, eventually, and ill need to hold the accelerator down, then the volts will rise from 12 to 14 then i get a high pitched whine through the speakers, once I get the whine and its at 14V it will idle. Still coughing and spluttering. Might need to gap the plugs a bit better, possibly shell out for good ones. Or buy a Hyundai Excel. http://youtu.be/U49k-2oEbr0 Edited April 25, 2012 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote
rian Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 Does it do that when the engine is hot? Like if you tried to start it again after it had already been running for a while? Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted April 25, 2012 Author Report Posted April 25, 2012 not as bad, but yeah, in between attempts there i was switching the ignition off and back on. If I don't it'll run like its only 2 cyl. Moltovs... :osama: Quote
rian Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 ...Yeah you should buy an Excel. But seriously, have you run it in diagnostic mode? Was this engine wired using the original AE82 wiring harness? Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted April 25, 2012 Author Report Posted April 25, 2012 But seriously, have you run it in diagnostic mode? Was this engine wired using the original AE82 wiring harness? No idea. I'm assuming so. Run diagnostic = every fault code ha ha ha ha. Man I miss my 4k. Quote

oh what a nissan feeling! Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 Has the engine got good connection on the earth straps back to the chassis / battery? Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted April 25, 2012 Author Report Posted April 25, 2012 (edited) It has 3 earths from engine to chassis. One major one. None to battery. Will check connections though Edited April 25, 2012 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted April 25, 2012 Author Report Posted April 25, 2012 All connections seem fine, major one from block to chassis rail. One from the head to fire wall and one from bellhousing to fire wall. Quote
Willis Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 Mechanic time?? It ran pretty well after my mate had a look at it...Couldn't hurt man, even if it means you just find out exactly what the problem is.... Quote
