Hey all. Going to replace the locks on my Ke10 with solex's.

 

Easy part.

 

Now the bit in unsure of is I have a 1967 drivers door and a 1969 passenger door.

 

The locks and mechanisms are listed as 67 ke10 68 ke10 69 ke10

 

If I buy a set to suit 1969 ke10 I'm unsure as to if it will work will the 67 door and linkages?

 

Any ideas?

i put the same locks on my 68 , but used the original plastic clip that goes on the end of the long wire part . they fit better than the solex suplied ones , and moved smoother . just take out each doors lock parts and see if there is much differance between them. also the holding clip for the boot lock on mine did not fit , i used the original . try not to snap any taking them off

I wouldn't bother, they're ugly as sin and not as good as they're made out to be.

^ I'm not too worried about what they look like. Mine is so bad i can open it with a pair of scissors. Yes, I tried.

 

Even in good condition i can get into it in 30 seconds or less. And i don't steal cars so i'm slow at it.

 

Solex is added security and cheaper than rebuilding factory locks which can be easily be pinched anyway.

 

Solex has a deadlock function. +1 on factory locks

They also for a little more do them in a full chrome lock. Look sssooooo much better IMO. From a slight distance you'd be hard pressed to pick the difference from STD style door locks.

if you pull the solex ring sticker off they look nice and "under cover " i painted mine matt black

the only bit i think differs between models is this bits length between holes

Meh, I'd still rather the standard locks. If somebody wants your car they'll bust a window.

Packing tape takes 30 seconds for a skilled thief. I saw a mate who'd never tried it before, pop a coat hanger in down the seal strip and open an 80's Seca in 2 minutes.

 

I've opened my cars by simply prising the door window frame outward with my fingers enough to put an arm in and unlock it.

I saved a woman at the shops once. Had locked her keys in the car. Went in to the butchers and got a piece of packing tape. Had never done it before but heard how to do it. Didn't even take 20 seconds.

 

Rather than say thanks, she gave me the most venomous glare you can imagine, got into her car and drove off.

I know there's ways around locks. And i know the way around them.. But, as i can open mine with a screw driver and scissors with no worries at all atleast it'll stop some ameatures or drunk mindless bogans perhaps breaking in

Ahhh well.

 

Why don't u just go to pinch a part or local wreckers and get locks off a later model corolla/laser etc?

Keyless remote central. Don't even hook up the locks.
