Danman85 Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 hi guys I bought a ke10 and the interior was re done on it and it hasn't got seat belts in the rear. Did they come out with them from the factory, or the bloke that re did the interior didnt put them back in. The car is registered but I'm not sure if it was done after rego was done. I want to know if i get pulled over by cops with guys in the back if they will book me. any one know anything about this? Dan Quote
Jono.C Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 My 67 doesn't, My 69 has the bits for it but it's had aftermarket retractables fitted instead. I think the early 67's don't but after that they should have seatbelts. If there's holes in the floor etc for them, You'll need them Quote
Jono.C Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 Mine has the holes for them, the '69 i got parts from 2 weeks ago had the holes for them and one i looked at a few months ago for parts also had them and that was a 68? Quote
mattress Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 Front and rear seat belts were made compulsory in 1970. Quote
philbey Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 My 69 doesn't either, I've never seen a ke1x with rears. Ever. Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 My 67 has rear belts but the mounting definitely doesn't look factory. My understanding is that once mounting holes have been made you have to have the belts (not sure just what I've heard). Check if there are holes in the floor, it's very easy to remove the rear seat. parrot Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 (edited) This was covered on rollaclub in a previous thread. From memory they were an option, but at that time seatbelts were an infringement of civil liberties which few people took up, especially for the kids in the back. My KE15 (fully imported) doesn't have them. Edit: Here it is http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/45156-ke10-and-ke11-rear-seat-belts/page__hl__%20seatbelts Edited October 15, 2012 by parrot Quote
Danman85 Posted October 22, 2012 Author Report Posted October 22, 2012 I found out that regulation came in 1971 for seat belts compulsory. Thanks for the comments Quote
camorinta Posted October 22, 2012 Report Posted October 22, 2012 I have a 1970 ke17, no seat belts at back :D .. looks cleaner.. people complain tho :P Quote
CorollaNut68 Posted October 29, 2012 Report Posted October 29, 2012 My 68 has them...there are 4 eyelet bolts into which the seat belts hook...this is a U.S. model though, may be different Quote
