hi guys,

this build has been going on for a few weeks now, but only now can i collate the info and post pics etc for a rides thread

always been a fan of the WRX's and my wife loves them too, and never realized how similar these babies are..!

had we have known, a year or so ago, we would have bought one back then instead of a Territory for our family car...

 

anyhow, skip to a few weeks ago:

i was in my AE82 20V 4AGE corolla, and up beside me pulls this cute slammed Forester. it had that sexy subie thumper idle, and i figure i'll go easy on him, being a family wagon, and all, lol

he left me for dead..!

so after that day, i started researching, and reading as much as i could find, discover how similar they can be to the WRX's.

finally today after many trade offers to different owners of the foresters, i got one here in Toowoomba

the head unit was ripped out and sitting on the floor. the guy i got it from, said it was blowing smoke out of the dash so he removed it

this was/is my vision for her!

so i started sourcing my JDM parts

 

scored this tailgate off Ebay, direct from a container from Kanagawa, Japan

the old exhaust was blown out, and held on with Zip ties

so down she went to Robbie Mann at Muffler Kings Toowoomba, for my usual treatment

2" Sports Exhaust, Hi Flow Cat, and 3" dump pipe

Yeah the early ones with the 2.5lt (when rex was 2lt) were bloody near faster than the wrx!.... GT that is obviously.

My youngest approves!

but i didnt like the seat height of the 'truck' so i looked into it and found the Impreza seats bolt straight in, rails and all, giving a 2" bum drop

so off i went to ebay, rexnet, and ozfoz to find a set

came across these red Sti ones in Brissie

mate, i would love to find out about those engines, if you have any advice

would love the torque of the 2.5

so, all the while i was looking into getting the ride height sorted, checking BC coilovers, Ksport, etc, til a guy on the ozfoz forums suggested trying his mates STi KYB struts, with Kings superlows, for cheap, before going to coilovers, as i was quoted 1.2-2.5k for coilovers

 

so i met him at caboolture BP, looking like some dodgy carpark dealer, and raced them home to fit that following weekend

cleaned, oiled and tidied them up
