Rhysw88 Posted April 15, 2013 Report Posted April 15, 2013 I am currently in the process of doing a ke55 project and looking at putting a 4age engine and box in, what would work better as in gearsticks lining up with the hole in the tunnel a fwd or rwd 4age? Quote
rian Posted April 15, 2013 Report Posted April 15, 2013 FWD 4AGE and RWD 4AGE are the same engine. You want to use a T50 gearbox, the gearstick will line up with the hole in the trans tunnel regardless of whether your KE55 was auto or manual. Unless of course you've never heard of tin snips/grinders/dremels, then the gearstick magically may no longer line up... Quote
It's_AUDM_Yo Posted April 15, 2013 Report Posted April 15, 2013 I've come to the conclusion T50s are overpriced poo, You can get W55/58s for like $50 sometimes and there heaps stronger. Quote
Rhysw88 Posted April 15, 2013 Author Report Posted April 15, 2013 Thanks guys i looked at a few boxes and one of them looked pretty long thats why i was abit worried about it, any other handy hints that might make my job easier would be much appreciated Quote
corollaart Posted April 15, 2013 Report Posted April 15, 2013 If you use a ta22 t50 the gear stick will be in the same spot as factory . Â If you use a later t50 the gear stick will come out about 17-20mm further back. Â The only problem with the ta22 box is there is a bit moding to get a 4a bellhousing on to it.(other wise it will piss oil every where) Â On the positive side the ta22 box will use the ke55 drive shaft. Jordanrolla Posted April 15, 2013 Report Posted April 15, 2013 I sell mounting kits for 4age into ke55 if your interested. Making a new shifter hole is required though, but that will be the least of your problems if your doing an entire conversion Quote
Rhysw88 Posted April 15, 2013 Author Report Posted April 15, 2013 Oh really? Whats included in the kit jordan? Anything that would make my job easier would be great, and what price? Quote
Jordanrolla Posted April 16, 2013 Report Posted April 16, 2013 $200 for a full kit, block mounts, rubber mounts and a gearbox crossmember. Full bolt in kit Quote
Rhysw88 Posted April 16, 2013 Author Report Posted April 16, 2013 That sounds great, where are you located? Ill definately be in contact when i start the build Quote
Rhysw88 Posted April 16, 2013 Author Report Posted April 16, 2013 So pretty much the only thing i need in the driveline is a tailshaft, with your kit and the engine & box? Quote
kickn5k Posted April 16, 2013 Report Posted April 16, 2013 So pretty much the only thing i need in the driveline is a tailshaft, with your kit and the engine & box? Â You'll need a hydraulic clutch pedal setup too. Â Jordan do you do these for the earlier stuff or is it just the ksev? Might be worth looking into. Quote
Rhysw88 Posted April 16, 2013 Author Report Posted April 16, 2013 Oh yea i hadnt even thought about that, can you modify ones off a later model? Quote
Jordanrolla Posted April 17, 2013 Report Posted April 17, 2013 I do a full pedal box kit for ke30 to ke55 for $275 on exchange for your old pedal box Quote
Rhysw88 Posted April 17, 2013 Author Report Posted April 17, 2013 Sounds great ill be in contact when i get started, what do you do about the clutch lines? Get them made or is that in the kit? Quote
