Mrmocos
I have read many posts here and in other forums about both of these swaps. I would love to keep it all toyota and not have to go nissan. On the 4age I know that you mate it to a t50 transmission or even a w55(?). Have not really seen much info on the w55 fitment in the ke20 tunnel. Will w55 gearbox fit in the ke20? If so has anyone ever used one from a 1995 22re truck and mated it to a 4age? The reason being is that the t50 are a lot older and not so easy to come by here in California. Now for the ca18det. I was looking at the nissan hardbody transmission from a d21 next to an rb20 and the d21 is much shorter which looks like it would be a better fit when swapping the ca bell housing onto the d21. Has anyone ever tried this? From what I have read when doing a ca swap the shifter ends up about 8" back which requires cutting of the tunnel. I know that I can use the ca gearbox and cut the tunnel or mate the rb gearbox with the ca housing but the d21 looks like a better fit with the ca housing. Any input would be great. LittleRedSpirit
Dunno about the nissan stuff but tunnel mods will be required to fit anything much bigger than a t50.
Mechanical Sympathy
Jordanrolla has a no cutting policy with his bolt in kits and his post is very informative regarding the issues that arise with each conversion. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/67438-ke-conversions-engine-conversion-kits-ke20-ke30-ke70-ae71-ae86/
