4K Weber, Popping In The Manifold. What Jets?

Hey guys.

I fitted a 32 36 webby (from 1.6L pinto) to my ke55. Motor is running a lumpy cam and some head porting. I'm using these settings.

primary main jet = 125, air corrector = 165, idle jet = 55

secondary main jet = 130, air corrector = 160, idle jet = 50

idle screw 2 turns out.

Car runs ok but when i floor it I can hear popping in the manifold like a crackling sound....... too lean?

You should be able to get it to run pretty good with those jets, when I tune the down draft webers on my rollas (once every 10 years or so), I just wined the mixture screw right in, get the car running (hopefully), and then just wined it out until it runs sweet, (sometimes it may be half a turn, or 3) pretty primitive but it works for me,

cheers!

Idle 50 pri, 55 sec. Straight up. Between 1 & 2 turns on the mixture is primo.

You really need to be doing plug dumps at certain rpm's.

Drive it slowly on the pedal when it starts to cut or bog down, clutch in & kill the engine. Check the spark plug. White is lean, black is rich.

My money is on rich idle & progressive, lean main.

Backfiring into the carb? Did you re-grind the valves when you fitted the cam? Could be a valve letting flame back in, or just the overlap of the cam doing it. See if a jet change fixes it first.
