parrot Posted July 13, 2015 Report Posted July 13, 2015 Obscure post of the month If you have bought a 3 Gauge TE27 centre cluster to retrofit into your KE2x and need the plug, it is identical to that found in the dash wiring of a 1975 MS85 Crown. I realise MS85's don't exactly grow on trees, but neither do TE27's Quote
aalaws Posted July 14, 2015 Report Posted July 14, 2015 I realise MS85's don't exactly grow on trees, but neither do TE27's I figured I'd just be able to buy a new generic plug when the time came to fit it all up.......?? Quote
parrot Posted July 14, 2015 Author Report Posted July 14, 2015 Fraid not. If you look at the speedo/tacho cluster round wiring plug, it is a smaller 6 pin version of that. I'm sure you will work something out. You can cannabalise the terminals from a KE2x dash cluster, or find a modern terminal equivalent. But the plug isn't something you can get off the shelf. Quote
aalaws Posted July 15, 2015 Report Posted July 15, 2015 interesting..........oh well I know a guy....... Thanks for the info Quote
mitch4397 Posted December 14, 2015 Report Posted December 14, 2015 Hey parrot, Any new alternatives to this scenario for the centre gauges? Any other cars with similar plug? Something from jaycar? Just picked up a te27 cluster, tacho section working, was also wondering why the hazard toggle also has two click options when you twist it...? Mitch Quote
parrot Posted December 15, 2015 Author Report Posted December 15, 2015 No. A plug will be factory or nothing. Someone here was wrecking an MS85 recently. http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/threads/85475-Wrecking-1980-MS85-Crown-Super-Saloon Failing that, look out for similar era imported higher end Toyota's such as the fancy Corona of the time. It will need to be an imported car I reckon, not AMI built Quote
SM Hunter Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 i have a MS85 sitting form my RS50-->MS50 build... PM me if you want anything :) Quote
.T. Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 ah well this is where making bits off different cars fit where they were never intended sometimes pays off. find a mitsubishi l300 van. pull the cluster. There's your plugs. easy to find Quote
parrot Posted December 15, 2015 Author Report Posted December 15, 2015 Eeew. It's a mitsi. But at least it works! Quote
novaluke Posted July 26, 2016 Report Posted July 26, 2016 I had the same problem but wired up every thing with these wires bullets. It worked fine till eventually i found a plug but still worked with them. If them do not fit exactly just press them a little get them more "roundly" Quote
Isan Barry Posted August 27, 2025 Report Posted August 27, 2025 Hey Parrot, Any chance of a clearer photo of this 3 gauge cluster plug so I can see which wires go where? Quote
parrot Posted August 27, 2025 Author Report Posted August 27, 2025 As you can see from one of the photo's above, the pins are numbered consecutively 1 - 6. Wire colours are as follows. 1. Yellow / Black 2. Yellow / Green 3. White / Black 4. empty 5. Red / Black 6. Yellow I haven't made any effort to workout where they go Quote
parrot Posted August 29, 2025 Author Report Posted August 29, 2025 If you can bear with me, the wonders of google translate have enabled me to read a Japanese manual I have. I just need to cross reference and see if i can save the images to post up. Quote
parrot Posted September 6, 2025 Author Report Posted September 6, 2025 Unfortunately the centre cluster gauges don’t appear in the wiring diagram. These photos may or may not assist. Batsuteri is battery. I have no idea what N, B, F and E represent unless they are printed on the circuit board. Quote
parrot Posted September 6, 2025 Author Report Posted September 6, 2025 And for completeness, as people interested in this are likely to want to know the pins for the tacho dash Quote
