styler Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 3t with t50 i imagine?, i have never heard of a t55? read the 3tgte post, the blocks are the same so most of the same conversion techniques apply. its a start... Quote
ke30king Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 you need to use a hydraulic clutch. is your rolla auto or manual if its auto you will need a manual pedal box and you will need to modify the engine mounts to move the motor forward about 20-25mm if you have any questions on modifying your pedal box just pm me for some pics. cheers Quote
c budge Posted July 24, 2006 Author Report Posted July 24, 2006 whats the best hydraulic clutch to have. its manual but can u put up some pics. just for a look. thanks Quote
irokin Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 whats the best hydraulic clutch to have. its manual but can u put up some pics. just for a look. thanks A hydraulic clutch just moves the clutch fork. There isnt really a "best" one to have...the best one is the one that works. Quote
styler Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 (edited) irokin's on the money... c budge, dude you crack me up! :P "can i efi a 3t?" thread ok then thanks for that i think i might just get a webber or a tiwn su.... i have an xf carby in the shed can i us it in anyway ..? whats the best set up i could use for the lestamount of $$$$ - NFI.... anyway think about this post: whats the best hydraulic clutch to have its a hydraulic clutch system as opposed to a cable clutch system. this means that it is a fluid system and not a mechanical system. to move fluid with force you need a cylinder system - master and slave. and a connecting line from one to the other obviously. now the master is a small bore long stroke, this means that when force is applied it moves a lot of distance with an small amount of force. the slave on the other hand is a big bore short stroke - just the opposite, it moves a small distance with a lot of force. this allows a small force to be applied over a long distance at the master end to create a large force over a small distance on the slave end. so you can see how the hydraulic system works now. master and slave work together as a matched set, distances and forces, as well as the fittings and mounting points and geometry. so your slave cylinder has a matching master cylinder which has been said in this thread. some people who know a lot about cars will change master or slave cylinders to their advantage but you need to know what you are doing. and older cars often share common components like master or slave cylinders too, for what its worth. but you just need the correct clutch master cylinder and it will work fine. c budge Posted July 25, 2006 Author Report Posted July 25, 2006 ok cool.. and just want to know do i need ta22 monts or can i mod my ke55 1s to make it fit.. Quote
towe001 Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 Checkout "Jonny's Old Corolla Site" http://winterpalace.customer.netspace.net.au/ Click on "T series engine conversion". This'll give you a good idea on how to mod the x-member to properly fit the motor. Quote
Dan Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 Righto mate, I eat my words. There is an engine there... just try to act with a bit more seriousness and knowledge (research helps) in your posts, so hopefully you can prevent any more people thinking the way that I had. Quote
ke30king Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 you can't use the corolla engine mounts because they wont bolt on but you can use the ta22 ones in the rolla x-member. i will post some pics up in a minute. i used a celica clutch master cylinder and fluid lines. Quote
styler Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 (edited) you will need ta22 mounts like ke30king said, from rarespares.com.au or americanautorubber.com.au or possibly repco.com.au the engine can bolt in but it will be too far back and on a slight tilt. yeah look at jonnys site for how to modify it correctly. and for the clutch, its most common to use a ta22 manual pedal box and use the clutch pedal section on the corolla pedal box, weld on i would imagine. or as above modify the corolla pedal box - havent seen that one before! c budge Posted July 26, 2006 Author Report Posted July 26, 2006 (edited) i called rarespares for the 2 front engine mounts its $144.. and a full rubber kit for the doors and every thing is $1055 if any1 wanted to know... i'm also gettign a set of extrators for it $50 how good is that Edited July 26, 2006 by c budge Quote
styler Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 hey try american autorubber for a full rubber kit, its about half the price! they may do engine mounts cheaper too, $70 each is a bit expensive but not outrageous. try repco and supercheapauto too. Quote
