Ive just removed the carpet from the front of my car and I'm planing to use it as a template to cut out the new stuff, however the carpet that i have removed has "glue" on the back of it and i was just wondering if there was an easy way to remove this so that i can lay it out flat. Or is there another easier way to get a template of the floor pan.

 

I'm not interested in getting moulded carpet due to lack of funds and the fact i already have the other carpet.

knox moulded carpets are $175 delivered, and thats for the "super plush" (best).

I have one in my mazda and I would highly recommend saving a couple of extra bickies for a quality product. :D

agreed, non moulded carpet will never fix or sit nicely (i know this from personal experience) you can always try to mould the carpet using a steamer ect but you will never get a nice fit.

As far as removing the glue on the under side that's whats is holding the moulding in place and i don't think you will be able to remove it without destroying the original carpet to use as a template

The "glue" on the back of it, is the moulded bit, so you wont ever get it to lay flat, moulded carpet is the only way to go, under $200 for nice carpet for the whole car is cheap as chips, you will never get normal carpet to fit as well as moulded, unless you are a trimmer. Failing that, search the wreckers til you find a car with good condition carpet in it.

ohh, I'm in det as it is, i have the intirior out atm and I'm running new wire at the moment so I'm doing every thing while the carpets out, do you think it would be cheaper to take my carpet and the car to a trimmer to do it?

id say it would actuall cost more to do it that way than to get some pre moulded carpet from knox. like mentioned before 175 delivered is cheap as chips, you would proably pay in excess of 300 taking it to a trimmer to get done

i paid $200 for a knox moulded carpet, included fitting of the carpet and underlay aswell as having a dash matt made for it aswell, the bloke did a great job of it

At the end of the day, you will be happier if you wait and buy some new moulded carpet.

mm dad said he could do it but it would look allot better to get moulded

why don't you just get it as clean as you can and then paint it gloss black, looks cool but can make the car a little bit noisey sometimes,

i had no carpet in my ke11 for about 6 months, then when i put carpet in i couldnt believe how quiet it was, just depends on what you preferance is
