  1. yep, that was us, we'd JUST washed the cars :D having a mini cruise
  2. OMG where to start..... I LOVE mine and have put a TON of work into it...having said that I've replaced just about everything, but I think mine was a lemon to start with, I've just fixed her up... :) PRO's: Limited edition, there were only 110 made, 10 were used for crash purposes and then I think 10 went to Canberra for rally and I'm sure a couple have been written off so they really are UNIQUE and RARE great sporty looking car, with the unexpected Turbo - perfect sleeper, it freaks people out ;) comfy to massive boot can still be a family car, but has the get up and boogy when you need to make a point you can modify it and get good gains from simple things CONS: It's FWD, so you have to modify your driving to suit, it's different to driving a RWD car If you're a guy, you get called a pansy cause you're driving a girls car, shopping trolly, etc., (I don't see it though) being FWD and having a turbo that kicks in earlier than most, you get a lot of torque steer (until you change your driving style), or you build up enough muscles to control it. In the wet, you also get wheel spin, when you do that a lot, you go through front tyres at a higher than usual rate AND front CV joints go. Some original parts are a bit difficult to get, and when you do find them they're usually expensive the standard toyota exhaust manifold is shit at around 135K to 146K three owners here have had similar cut out problems, 2 were the ECU (which is expensive to diagnose and repair/replace) and one was the distributor (which wasn't expensive) All in all, I love mine and If I had have known what I was going to go through BEFORE I bought it, I would have still bought it! If your friend loves the look, feel, performance of it, so long as you get an inspection (for all the nitty gritty things) and it comes up apples, like any car that you love BUY IT! I'd highly recommend getting an extended warranty ;) Here's a few pics from yesterday... http://www.rollaclub.com/board/?showtopic=34589 Good luck :D

  8. So we washed the cars today, and whilst we were re-energizine (with a pie from Villi's) we were admiring our handiwork..... so TA DA! TWO shiny sportivo's :) Enjoy!
  9. got the car back today, took it on a 200klm drive (up and down the freeway!) and she's running great! hubby was right, it was the ignition module in the distributor. Toyota got a second-hand one and it was fitted today (I rang the place that they got it from to get a price as I was worried about how much it was going to cost) and wait for it..... $85 for a new, second hand distributor :) apparently the distributors on a normal AE112 are the same as a sportivo :( Yay! got my car back
  10. yes, it's very nice and the shiny BOV thank god! because I was getting pssshhht withdrawals!
  11. got it :) I'm so sorry I didn't let you know I couldn't make it to the last one, I promise I'll be more organised for the next one :(
  12. photography by RAVEN :) October is SoulSearcher month:)
  13. I saw TOLDUSO today on a black....um honda...um prelude I think it was... I laughed....
  14. uh, well mine would run for probably 40 klms and then have a hissy, then I'd have to wait for 5 minutes and then I'd get home, but on the cruise where we were driving a fair way, it cut out about 5 or 6 times I think, before I stopped for an hour it was cutting out every 100m or so.. Teddy: I understand that, it's like the caps on a main board for a computer, .... thank you for the diagram... I was flat out today so hubby rang the auto leccy and the codes are telling them that the ignition module (I think) is at fault, they re-set the ECU and it's been running trouble free for the whole of the afternoon, they ran it for 4 hours and no fault So it looks as though I might get my car back tomorrow :) I'll take it on the "it'll definately break down run" and see if she does...I REALLY miss her :(
  15. aaawwwwww, he's a chick magnet :P lol it's great to see he's piling on the weight, he was under a kilo when he was born wasn't he??
  16. i actually went through all the posts (yours, well this one, and terminals) and printed all that out for the auto electrician, who is great, I've used him a couple of times before, and they even parked my car away from everyone elses, cause they know i'm pedantic about my car :P anyway, he got it to fault today but the equipment wasn't hooked up, so they were trying again after lunch and I'm confident that it will do it again, we all agree that it was doing it when it was hot more frequently, and it will fault on idle. He also said that he'll take the ecu out and give it a visual inspection, so i feel confident that he'll find the fault and be able to resolve it quickly *touch wood* now to your question....when it cut out the check light was on, i turned the car off completely, including lights and aux power items and pressed the off button on the TT, turned it over and i reckon the check engine light was on. If I tried to turn it over immediately, it would try, but not catch. But if i waited just a couple of minutes the car would start and I could drive it. But I was only going short distances which is why i wasn't fully aware of the problem I think....on longer trips it just got hotter and hotter and would cut out within minutes of me driving off, (not fun at night on the freeway!)... I thought that maybe the thermostat was shagged and the engine was getting too hot and the computer was telling it to shut down, and in the service they just did they found that the middle of the thermostat had come loose! *god i'm lucky it didn't cause any major damage* so I was hopeful that with the replaced thermostat it wouldn't get so hot...but it still faulted so there went that idea out the window.... I'll have more news tomorrow....
  17. ok, it WAS throwing out error codes... "codes relating to ignition, specifically going back to the distributor" the auto electrician has managed to get it to fault, but their equipment wastn't on it at the time, so they're going to try again after lunch...they say it's heat related and that mitsubishi's are renown for this problem.... Lesley :P
  18. aww he is gorgeous!!!! and he's grown so much!!! what's his weight now??
  19. what about http://www.packsend.com.au/ they're supposed to be good...
  20. welcome back :) pretty levin :)
  21. i think i'm at 145,000...took info to auto electricians, will find out more tomorrow.
  22. well I've got the same problem as julez and terminal had... driving along and she cuts out, wait a couple of minutes and she starts, short trips are ok, i think it's heat related, on a longer trip i got anywhere from 500 to 1klm before it cut out again.... incidentally, I've been complaining about my temperature guage for a while now at service, and this time I told them to replace it...the middle of it had come loose. So now the car is at the auto electrician.... :)
  23. Mines doing it now...it's been to Toyota and now it's at the auto electricians.... it's doing exactly the same as yours was julez. Driving along then for no reason cuts out...wait for a couple of minutes, and it starts again... seems to do it more when it's hot, Lesley :)
