Got the 4AC starter motor to fit the T-50 . I have started the job of labelling the wiring loom so i know which wires i will have to extend. A few of the plugs seem different (the cold start injector is one of these) to that of the wiring diagram and a few plugs have more wires than listed on the wiring diagram. The diagrams are easy to read but this is the first time i've attempted to wire an engine, anyone got any advice for this newbie auto-elec?

I got a starter motor from a ae92 4a-ge and it won't fit the t-50 gearbox. I'm swapping it for a 4a-c starter motor today.
-
I think maybe I should have said that at the start of this thread. Cheers, will take the starter motor back tomorrow, and see if they have one.

the file at toymods called: 4A-GE100kW[1].tar.gz has the wiring diagrams too, i just couldn't seem to download it last week at 28.8kbps but now the cable modem is fast again. I knew you could use the pinouts but I prefer to scan over a diagram when doing something i've never done before to get a feel of how it all works.

i got a starter motor today for an ae92 but the bolt holes don't line up on the t-50 gearbox, i feel a bit silly and now know i should've measured the bolt holes first. Guess i need one from a 4k?

when i looked a week ago at the club4age site, i could only find a ae92 diagram in Japanese. I was going to order a Haynes/gregorys manual but the guy at the shop said it didn't have any useful major diagrams. If i need anything else i will churn at the 90mb file, i assume its the toyota manual?
-
you mean the ae86 manual? I couldn't download the file for some reason and assumed that it would be the AUS ae86 with AFM. I wanted the 100kw MAP sensor diagram. Anyway, got it all sorted out now.

I got given the 100kw 4A-GE MAP sensor EFI, starting and charging wiring diagrams by the helpful guys at a performance workshop. I will scan them into the computer if anyone needs me to.

Can anyone point me to a 16v 4a-ge wiring diagram in english? I have a smallport motor in a ke20 which i'm trying to finish before July. I seem to have looked everywhere on the net and can't find one. I can find a 4a-gze one but no 16v diagrams. Thanks, Jon

Its true i don't have to connect the TB warm up lines, right? Thats for emissions reasons and a quicker warm up, right?

It doesn't mention profitability, of which Toyota is number one (They will also exceed GM as the biggest car maker later this year) BMW made a pre-WWII i6 engine of just 1.2 litres. It wasn't used in a production car, just war machines.

I ended up getting a standard ECU and wiring harness with lots of sensors today from SSS automotive. Most of the wiring is pretty obvious but I will have to get my hands on some wiring diagrams to check a few things. I'm at the point in my life where i really want to save money (engagement ring has been ordered and honeymoon fund has begun) and keep this project under $6K. I know i won't be getting much help from mates from this point on as they all have haltechs in there ke20s... :P If anyone has any advice regarding the use of stock ECUs please let me know!
-
yeah, i was lucky to get the modified tailshaft with the engine and gearbox of my mate. i will try and find out where he got it done. I'm sure you could take measurements and take it to a driveshaft/engineering shop. I will be getting it engineered. I think adjustable computers would be illegal due to emission laws, but i have been pointed to a relaxed engineer. I don't agree with that law, why can't the police/rta just do a smog test if they are suss on your car? I just thought a haltech would easier than messing around trying to get all the wiring loom, connectors and stock ECU. Not to mention being able to squeeze more power out of the 4age. However, the computer is the last thing on my list so if someone has an ENTIRE ecu and loom for a small port 4age lying around let me know how much you want for it...

I'm sure after driving the car for a while and getting used to the gearing it becomes more and more unneccessary to look at the tacho, the sound of the engine is usually enough to gauge where in the power band you are. I miss my e30 dash but i'm sure i will cope with the tiny tacho... Thanks for the comments people, feel like i'm making progress but its hard juggling time between this project, a girlfriend i'm about to get hitched with and the after hours cash jobs. Just need: starter motor remote brake booster and plumb the lines work out some bracket for the clutch master cylinder wallet emptying haltech :lmao:

Very nice. I didn't know these cars existed until yesterday. I saw one on Mona Vale road - I couldn't figure out what it was, i could only see a toyota badge on the back and the dude just said it was an import.

My '84 318i died after a few minutes when my belt snapped and the alternator stopped charging the battery. -
IMHO Put some stockies on it, spend the money on good, sticky rubber instead of chromies and thrash the titties off it! I loved those cars when they first came out. Isn't this car for sale now?

got to work on the coolant plumbing. gotta love the internet, I found a diagram on toymods which outlined everything i needed to do. This is my version. Shame i didn't clean the poo off the thermostat before taking the photo.

My mate that sold me his whole 4age/t50 setup has now got a t28 turbo on his 4agze. He is now using a Supra gearbox i think as the 22 spline t50 is limited to 200hp. I had mounts custom made by another friend but I'm thinking i may swap them for a lower set.
-
I would only spend that money if you plan on keeping it for a fair while. Some gay chrome rims would be worth more than the car!! Just cut the springs and use stock steelies and it would look better for no money at all. As a family car I wouldn't bother "blinging" it up.

When i was 16, a ke20 was the first car i drove on my 'L's without supervision. I remember a friend had a 13b in one back in '96 and had done a +400m set of 11's and i've wanted one for burnouts ever since.

This guy has 5000 cars, many of which are one-off custom cars. Best Wagon on this thread by far: Ferrari 456 GTA Venice Sedan http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haji_Hassanal_Bolkiah http://www.geocities.com/sul288us/

Please let us know about the difference in driveability/characteristics when you get those cams.

The first proper M5 was the e28 with the 24 valve 3.5 I6. There were rumoured to be a few e12's with the m1 motor stuffed in built for BMW's top management. E34 had 3.6 I6, then 3.8 I6. E39 has the v8, E65 has THE v10 the first m3 had a 2.3 litre Four cylinder (Quad throttles), then the Evo Sport had 2.5.] The president of the BMWCCNSW had a 3.8 M5, so I guess he imported it...
