Found: A Place That Restores Cracked Dashboards And Arm Rests
JiP replied to JiP's topic in General Mechanical
I've visited every wrecker south of brisbane, west towards Ipswich and even visited one beyond Ipswich. I've gone towards the Gold Coast too. Thats ateast 15 wreckers. Out of all the ones with corollas, mind you some had many, none had dashboards in good condition. Even that one i found had little chunks taken out of it on one area which i only saw after removal. This was the best chance I had. Jon. -
Found: A Place That Restores Cracked Dashboards And Arm Rests

Ok, i'm getting sick of writing this. My computer has crashed like 6 times. 4 when restarting and i have lost this a further 2 times cause my page automaticly starts loading f@$kING AVRIL LAVEIN!!!!!!! After you read all this and see all the pictures i've added, think how frustrated you'd be if you were about to press "ADD REPLY" and before you could do that, 20 mins of work turns into AVRIL?? Here goes, number 4... I've finally gotten my dash back from Dashboard Restorations. I spend all day yesterday installing it. I took many pictures. Alot before, a durring and an after. This first picture is of my first dashboard before i even begun removal. These pictures are of the dashboard on the day before removal. These pictures are of the cracked dashboard after they were removed. These pictures are of the restored dashboard before installation. This picture is of the dashboard durring installation. And lastly, these pictures where taken today after the installation was complete. It was complete late last night but was too dark for photos. Now the dash cost me $330.00 from Dashboard Restorations. The company resoring these dashboards as been around for the past 17 years. The guy also told me that it has a five (5) year warrenty. So if anything happens, it should be repaired for free. But i doubt anything will happen cause i'm sure that after 17 years they'd know how to do it properly. I found a fairly good dash once at the wreckers. I was trying to remove it when i accidentally snapped it. NOTE: If anyone is planning on removing their dash, make sure you've removed all the screws. There are some hidden screws behind the dash which are really hard to reach. After all the screws and nuts are removed it should slide out easily. If it doesn't, you've missed some. Ok guys, good luck. Jon. P.S. Does anyone know how to close the Glove Box so it sits flat with the rest of the dash. It currently sits open abit. -
Not a surprise, the Police are slack. Up here in Queensland, three weekends ago, my parents car was smashed into and ransacked. They wouldn't come out to the house so they could make a report, so I had to drive them to the police station. They told them they'd send someone later that day to finger print the car. We then recieved a call telling us that they couldn't make it, saying my parents then would have to drive their car to the cop shop, destroying any evidence in the progress. In the end they found no prints cause they couldn't print the door, the steering wheel, the g/box.

Get the KE20 in bris. Its a steal.

Thats my favorite part of driving anywhere with my car. I love being first up at the traffic lights. Then when I take off people in all cars around (slight exageration) turn their heads to watch. I love it when pedestrians walking along talking to a friend stop, turn around just to look at your ride. I guess my exhaust plays a big part in it all. But then when i've got their attention, they admire how nice the car is. Its a great feeling.

I know you've already made a reply to this but i say considder it. KE20 In Brisbane I'm sure what ever freight costs it'll be worth it. Just look at the picks its in way better nic that the KE10. I'm bummed i can't afford it.
-
Alittle off subject but does anyone perfer the KE30 rear end & side vents over the KE35?? Cause if i had a KE35 and money to burn i'd cut out a KE30 rear end and boot lid and weld it onto(and replacing) a KE35's
-
Give it a miss. There's gotta be something better out there. Plus rthe starting bid is way too high.
-
$500.00 If that!! Its got a fair bit of rust and needs a couple replacement panels. Plus donno whats wrong with the bumper. Think about it it'll cost you a bit just to get it on the road. All you know is that all those panels need attention. What about the motor?? May still run but you mostlikely would need to do work befor regestering it. Theres no way he's getting $1,400.00 Tell him he's dreaming. Also, Most paint and panel places wont deal in rust. you may need to deal with that yourself.

Your right on that one, no one else does like the square headlights KE55. I must say that i belive that my front end with my bonnet is my favorite. I would like duel headlights. But as for stock, i perfer mine, apart from my stock bonnet. (Just my opinion) I think that the KE55 square headlight front end looks plain and beady. The headlights come out too far and the grille has no defenition. Nothing to draw the eye. If I could do anything to my front end i'd have that 3rd option made if i could. Or if i was extramly rich and had lots of cash to throw around i'd just get smaller headlights(round) for the front, have my bonnet extended in the center to a point and have a new bumper made and grill to match to make the front look like a mustang. Or just buy a mustang.

I think with the two small ones the car looks wider.
-
Okay, which front end looks better?? The Current Front End........The Current With An Extra Set Of Same Size Bulbs........Same As Last One But Smaller Bulbs.
-
Yeah, sorta. I think the guy did it himself. Cause there was no grille.

" ' " ' " BREAKING NEWS " ' " ' " BREAKING NEWS " ' " ' " This just in, I too have seen a KE70 with an unusual front end. Today while driving through a southern Brisbane suburb, I spotted a KE70 driving towards me(on his side of course). He had removed his grille and headlights and replaced them with two smaller round headlights. Back to you at the news room. Thanks JiP!! Does anyone agree that two small round headlights look sportier and classier?? Cause i've always woundered what i'd look like on a KE30, or do u think there'd be too much wasted space above and below the lights cause they are much smaller than the originals?? Sorry. I've been watching Anchorman.
-
Now that looks better. Either way, what ever country it is, they still jay-walk there.
-
i wAS cRACKING a jOKE!!
-
Are the bumpers from the KE30/55 and KE70 interchangerable??
-
I see why there's traffic!! YOUR ALL ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD!!!
-
If you were to get another KE25, why not use the smashed one as spare parts and transfer what you can from it into the "new" one. It'd be way cheaper to do it that way. Plus the smashed one would be rattled through out the whole car. After i smashed my old car the whole interia had things cracked, others out of place and some with large gaps between interia panels. Although my crash was most likely at a higher impact speed. Either that or cause his KE25 is hard steel compared to my aluminium foil. Now thats a compact car.

I played with the two wires on the back while I had it open on Saturday. The black and the red ones. But still nothing. Looks like I have to get inside and take the face off.

Done & Done!! thanks for that!! Now to the next speedo problem... My clock, works at times and sometimes not. Any Ideas??? thanks, Jon.
