  1. Ok after many hours checking fuses, relays and connections i finilly found to prob... And geez do i feal like a noob... Bad engine earth /cry
  2. Well i managed to get hold of another ecu to try out and didnt do squat... So going to check every fuse relay and connection.... Again...
  3. Does sound.like a fuel issue.. try putting some throtle body cleaner through the carby... I had simular prob with my hilux recently and that just ended up being a blocked fuel filter. But you already changed that
  4. I sould also note that the old rolla batt was farked long before the ned engine went in as i used to use it for the electric motor on my boat when the rolla was off road with old farked engine in it( bout 6-8months) the rolla didnt killed old batt... I did;)
  5. i can put the multimeter on it but i don't think that would be the prob as the good batt that i put in there was outa my every day driver with hi cca batt outa a volvo 760 ... And.that batt has no probs turning over a v6 (taken straight out of volvo and into rolla and wont turn it over... I have thought might he starter but the fact that the starting prob started at same time as tacho and running issuses started at same time
  6. I have just put another 4age engine into my ae82 and it purred like a kitten for a frw weeks however the battery i had in it was farked and (don't ask me why) but i tryed starting it quite a few times on the farked batt, i have since tryed the batt out of another car(fully charged and in good working order) and now the rolla work start via the key... It will start when i roll start her but it runs poorly and i have noticed that the tacho(in dash one) behaves weirdly(shows less revs when i rev it) it also when engine is stoped and i go to start her i have noticed that the engine light and oil light are dim as i turn keto pre start position... I am thinking i might have damaged the ecu from trying to s atart her with a farked batt... Any ideas ??? Maybe a bad connection or a fuse or am i right with the ecu?
  7. Anyone in hobart area have a spare working ecu for a ae82 4age 16v blacktop i recently put in another motor due to killing last one :'( it all worked fine and purred like a kitten but the battery i had in it was fubar and i think i might have killed the ecu from trying to start multiple time on the fubar batt... Reason I'm thinking the ecu is buggered is due to engine will not start on a fully charged batt and when i bump start it it runs poorly and the in dash tacho dances around on idle and when i rev it the tacho goes down not up... :\ so I'm wondering if some1 in or near hobart might have one laying about that i could try out and maybe even sell if that ends up being the problem Oh and hi guys... Havnt been on for awhile /wave's too everyone....
  8. i know every1 has already said you was 100% in the right but i wanna chuck in my 2c worth as well trailer or no trailer you were driving on the correct side of the road and i asume at the posted speed limit... any vechile entering that roadway(either from left or right side) must give way or merge into the traffic already on that roadway also mention to the guy that hit you that the hire company charged you for damages to the trailer (make up somthing like it damaged the wheel berring) and see if ya can't scam him for some $$ :)
  9. yea i wasnt thinking when i did it well i guess ill be a... :cmonkey:
  10. i got bored while rc was down last nite so i blew the dust off the old paint brush and made this i call it "Rollacub"
  11. generaly when ya buy new plugs the gap is preset however there normaly set as a general setting for all the other cars that take that plug so might not be exact for you car take out a plug and check its gap also check inside the dizzy cap for cracks scratches if you have either of them in there it will make the spark jump around insiade the dizzy cap and prevent firing of the cyclinders also check all your leeds are on properly it does sound more of a timing problem so try moving the dizzy around a bit and try starting again once got it started check you timing with a light but if the dizzy cap was loose i would be looking inside the cap for damage 1st
  12. hmmm so 30nm-55nm-64nm or should i just stick with the old 30nm +90° +90° going to be using the old head bolts this time round so only got 1 chance of getting it right( last thing i wanna do is snap the end of the bolt off in the block :jamie: plan is just to do a temp fix for now as the old cash flow is a bit on the light side and in 6 12 months rip out the engine again and do a full rebuild once the cash flow is a bit better ;)
  13. just didnt some more research on it last nite while rc was down i need to go out and get myself a 10m 3/8 longreach socket :jamie: any1 got 1 ta spare they wanna post me ;) oh and thinking bout it i think there 12 point not 16 like i said b4.. but either way the normal 6(hex)sockets are usless on it
  14. who was the pot smoking japman who decide to put 16point bolts on a 4age head... and then make it even harder to get out by puting them in such a narrow gap... :jamie: now i gotta go out and buy another 12mil thin walled socket just so i can get this bloody head off ;) anyway enough QQ'in any1 know the 3 stages of tightning up the head all i can find is this and it dosnt seem that good to me
  15. i think your trippin if you can't hear the kiwi accent Hiro Protagonist maybe lay off the drugs... either you are thinking of another show or i am but the one I'm refering to the guy is defently kiwi and they got there own rip off version of the stig... but anyway who cares... *edit* ok those two presenters are not in the one I'm thinking of unless there is a kiwi version I'm thinking of...
  16. dunno just the kiwi accent is enough to stop me watching it... no offence to any of the kiwi rc members :D
  17. have you guys seen the Oz version... made in kiwi land and there version of the stig is called the twig :D
  18. those rims sooo look like the rims from a 308gts ferrari *edit* apart from the number of studs :D
  19. this ones prob been around the place a fair bit but... i found this on a general google search while looking for ae82 turbo's think i might have some probs getting this one under the bonnet... :D
  20. ok one last idea... :rolls: do you have another carb ya can try on ther and do a o2 check on it twin su's :bash: even better
  21. ok wow 15° just seems like a lot do you have an adjustable cam? and I'm asuming that you timing (belt/chain) are spot on and not 1 tooth out?? as well as the dizzy (soz never played with that engine type b4 but guessin much the same as a 4A-C (forgive my noobness) I'm thinking that your engine might be retarded(not calling it retarded) eg; 1 tooth b4 tdc hence having your timing advanced to 15°
  22. 1st of all what car is it? 2nd and this is only a general rule for tuning a carby turn you fuel mix screew full in and undo it 1 1/2 turns.. it wont be spot on but is a good advarage starting point then find out if it leen or rich and adjust 1/4 turns at a time to get it right but before you do that count the turns you do the mixture screew up so you can fall bk on it ofcoure some1 will prove me wrong but thats what i was told to do years ago on mine and it worked for me However it was on a crappadore (don't hold it against me) :laff: *edit* i should note i don't know what car ya got unlike most of the other people on here :rolls: *another edit* :bash: isnt 15° too advanced (again not knowning what the car is) shouldnt it be around 8-12°???
