'open diff'
-
I found a 1979 hatchback with a t50 trans at a u pull it. So I pulled the 3rd member out of that. Looks good, no wear or metal shavings. The hardest part was getting the drums off. Well now ill have a ooen diff and look into a lsd swap.
-
so I have done a ton of research and have not found a clear answer. I have a terribly whinning diff that is locked. I will swap out with anything that will work. Should i just swap the center or the whole axle? If I do the whole axle, is the 1979-81 mk1 supra with the LSD the best way to go? Will a toyota truck have lsd or something? Just looking for a compatable list so when I'm at the junk yard I can find what is usable and pull it off with minimal custom work. Thanks for all the info!!!

problems: the carbs are set up to pull down on the linkage, is there a way to flip these or some how a reverse cable set up? inbetween the carbs i would push that linkage down towards the ground, it seems backwards, shouldn't it pull up? this is the current set up complete with zip tie

I'm building the RAT! Going with flat black rattle canned paint for the outside, the rest can be your decision to make,,,BUT REMEMBER I'm going back yard cheap on this here's some pics from today's work, had all glass removed and painted the channels and parts of the cage that would be easy to paint now then with the glass in, painted the metal dash part too. before after before after The dash is all cracked up. Should I cover it up with black carpet and keep guages, or....tear it out and put a rally race dash panel with guages and switches???? YOU VOTE, YOU DECIDE!

Building a car for street and mild track use, what do you think? I have this 2tc block that looks rebuilt but i can't tell, it's all cleaned up and the head too. how can i tell what cam is in it? what compression it is? Now to make this cheap I will need your help. How much should I be able to pay for the items listed AND should I even consider these items? Dual carby webers with manifold, online about $1400 Cam??? size??? Ignition set up? Rebuild head with roller rockers? Is that too much?? I have a t50 5 speed trans. Do I need to rebuild it, is it easy, take it to aamco???

I have decided to take all the door seals and the front and rear glass out. I would like to replace the rubber seals on the doors but all I can find is on ebay and they want $50.00 to ship them. Is there a site out there that has them cheaper? And I'm in the states BTW. Thanks to all!

here is the carnage snapped the oil pump and rod in half. Looked at my shifter today and found that i must have slammed the trans into the floor cause my shifter mount is all bent.

I was fortunate enough to borrow a guys lift at his shop. Unbolted the mounts, and raised engine, pan out easy as spam! I went to take the pan off and heard some parts rattling in there, not good, I thought. Turns out I snapped the oil pump in half. :bash: I will be installing the new one today and hopefully all is well. Pix will be attatched tonight. The suspension is ok I think, drivers side strut bar bracket got smashed so ill try to pick one up from the junk yard. I just pulled those off and painted them too and put all new bushings in! :sob: Thanks everybody!~

Today I took an offramp a little fast for the rain and locked the brakes into a skid causing me to fly over the mediun(center divider like sidewalk size) and smashed my oil pan pretty good. :bash: I think I damaged the oil pump and will have to pull off the pan to take a look. Any one expierence something similiar or tips on pulling this thing off? I know I'll have to raise the engine out a few to get to it. Tricks and tips appreciated! :sob:
