  1. No denying everything beats it off the line :laff: But am considering it for my application. I don't know how you do your bodywork, uggh I'm dreading the day that I have to start mine and its only minor work. :bash:
  2. nooo, go ca :) I plan to run a ca20 or 18 box in my thirty, I'm thinking of a to4e atm but not too sure... my mate is running one in his ca18 bluebird with decent results, has some lag though.
  3. Are you going to just run a ca18 gearbox? Any more thoughts on turbo yet? Dave
  4. I've just taken my ke30 off the road for a engine conversion, but would be keen to come in the Celica, or someone elses rolla. there's a few nice places we could go, maybe out highfields way to crows nest isn't a bad drive, and there is a few nice dams/picnic spots you could stop at on the way.
  5. More... Oil Squirter Next pictures will be showing various stages of stripping to a bare block. Diference between a ca18DE and a ca18DET pistons, the DE is dished (left)
  6. Well, No I don't :rolls: Thanks to my mate from work who is a ca18det guru, we put the complete engines on a engine stand, I went for a pee break and came back to see he had pretty much stripped it all. :laff: Anyway, Some pictures,I didn't get to take a picture of them as "complete" engines, so heres what I got. Let me tell anyone who has never bought a second hand engine before to have no expectations. I bought these two engines as "running" but for a price of one engine that would suit a rebuild (at current market price rates) now they have spun bearings, stuffed valves, one block is probably going to need to use oversized pistons due to the boring that will be needed etc. Luckily, I had planned to do a ground up rebuild and take the best usable parts from both and turning into one. Engine one on engine stand, Engine two head/manifold and then block etc Stuffed main bearing.
  7. I just bought two ca18dets, Already have them stripped, ready for a rebuild :laff: (I will post pictures when I can find my camera memory card :bash: ) Got them for a steal :D Yeah Kieran, I have your # Ill give you a text/call in the next few days. If you get the 5k I have a 5 speed gearbox out of a ke70. Also was nice to meet everyone that I met today. Thanks heaps Zowie i really enjoyed it. Dave
  8. Well, The deal has been made with Zowie, Will also have a 5 speed gearbox out of a ke70 and other assorted things, will post a for sale ad shortly. Dave
  9. Apprentice mechanic, I have an exemption, a normal p plater can;t even drive a 5k legally..
  10. I am actually going to go look at a sr20det right now, so might be another sr20 powered ke30 :lolcry:
  11. Exactly, My mate has pretty much everything you listed, except a microtech (:P) which also gets a bad rap. Been boosted on 13psi+ can't think of the turbo ATM and is fine. We have had a few problems with the tune though but it is going to be booked into T.A.S after his holidays to get it fully sorted. Though there is a 4age at the gold coast for sale which I am tempted about,... And sorry Keiran, Zowie already got in :) I do have some other parts, I feel sort of bad selling them as I got them with the car from Zowie, but I have spae difs, few seats etc if you need them Keiran. Sorry I didn't get a chance to come down and see you.
  12. If it would come down to a engine conversion... It would be a ca18, now most people chuck off at them but my thoughts have changed as a bloke from work as one in his bluebird with some work done too it.. Otherwise I like the 3s engines but I think it would be to much hard work/ too expensive. Dave
  13. Yeah, Maybe not tomorrow, but Sunday? pm the number anyway. you must nearly be on your open licence too?
  14. Come do my body work thanks. :lolcry: Are you still working for the same bloke around from BCF? Dave
  15. Not really much to update, Still firing the old girl up for a weekend drive, collecting a few engine parts... but I don't know if in the long run a turbo on the 5k or just a engine conversion would be better... Seeing heaps of old rollas around Toowoomba lately, gives me motivation  Oh I got some new carpet, which I think is the only thing that wasn't 100% interior wise. So now all I want to do is paint/fix rust and then yeah.. Dave
  16. Well thought I'd post a update, Thanks to Clapped Out/Phatke30 I was able to get a fairly good condition front bumper bar and guard, all back together and she is on the road (A little miss coloured at the moment though :glare:) Installed a 2inch tacho where the clock was (Seemed to stop working so thought may as well take it out) bought everything to paint the car except the actual paint ( :laff: ) still thinking about changing colour (I really like NisRollas blue) but I don't want anything to attention grabbing.. Probably won't have the car at the point I want for a few months as I decided I may as well hit everything all together, take the engine out, give it a refresh and then paint the bay while I;m doing the outside and inside. So hopefully I will update in another few months, unfortunately I can't spend all my money on the car as setting myself up for the future is more important at this moment. Sorry if anyone that knows this car is dissapointed with me... Dave
  17. Not really, I did go and see it today, no pictures though. I just need to ring some wreckers on Monday to find a panel. People are pursuading me into going a different colour ( :hmm: ) I think white looks the goods though when clean so am not too sure, otherwise just going to start the rust removale and sand back next week and go and buy paint. Dave
  18. All good, Wanted to sell the bugger today, but my mate from work said nah mate and we drove it to his shed.. A few bolts and zip ties undone and cut ( :laff: ) and the bad panel is gone, The radiator support was bent back (wasn't as bad as I had thought and I have a spare chrome bar so all I need is a drivers side guard. Might put some pictures up tomorrow.... But should be good as new by next week. This little accident has accelerated the process for body work as I've decided to keep it as a weekend car instead of the daily it was intended for. Dave
  19. Yeah, I'm devistated but I guess what can I do... It is still drivable, but I might put it in the shed till new year :sob: :n:
  20. ust had a accident. Nothing stupid, just pulling out of my work car park... Front RH guard, radiator support i beleive are both stuffed... and the front chrome bumper, so will have to source some stuff.
  21. That's what I want to do, or some sort of mag wheel like convo pros or something (not real wide though) Anyway, Plans have changed, Interior and Exterior are staying like my first post (Stock/old school) But I've been talking to my engine rebuilder at work and am planning on refreshing and a bit of a hot up... So am researching the FAQ section like mad at the moment. Dave
  22. Afternoon, Installed some speakers and wired up the head unit yesterday, am about to start rust repair and depending how motivated I am it will be painted early 2012. Think that's about it, am looking for certain trims i'm missing, the old front grill, a small tacho gauge that doesn't look crap, deciding if I want to put my original rims back on and getting a hotter camshaft :glare: Dave

  24. I don't mind it... but I also wouldn't mind swapping it either :hmm: Dave
