  1. Hey gents. Placing this thread here for us Corona fiends to use to share info and ask questions rather than destroying each others build threads with garbage. Mods please move if this isn't in the right spot ;) First question I've been wanting answered - who has the spare wheel mounted in the spare wheel well inside the left hand guard? And if so, what is the tyre profile? At some stage mine has been changed to a wider profile and she won't sit in there anymore lol Feel free to ask questions/share ideas in this thread guys.
  2. +1 more lol. Maybe we should start one in the Automotive Discussion section.
  3. Weird. I wonder why simon couldn't fit the one I have him. Oh well haha. I don't mind the 89 grille, I just like the 81 more :) I don't know how you find so many of these coronas. There's like NONE in SA
  4. Nice! I gave simon on here a spare RT81 grille and he said it didn't fit his 80. Dunno of you can make it work, but I do like them a lot more :)
  5. 2 inch lowering blocks in the rear, my fronts are chopped but king springs do sell "low" front springs for these. Can get the part number from work if you need
  6. Clearance is good, exhaust scrapes a very lightly if your rough over speed bumps - take it slow and it's fine. The new crossmember we made up sits a little lower than the exhaust now, if I go over bumps slow it's sweet but I hacked up a speed bump at work just after the conversion. The crossmember is 10mm thick steel so it's not going anywhere - will be modding it so it's not hanging down so low though. All in all, 1.5 on the front and 2 at the back is great I'll be going lower after my respray though :)
  7. Yeah I was getting at the same thing Glenn, my beast is spotless underneath, has less rust and inside and bumpers are clean as a nizzle. So it is possible :) but like Glenn said, who cares! Anyways... Show us MOAR!
  8. Cool! I just went and looked over the first pictures again, my engine bay used to be just as bad hahaha. I didn't know the original radiator caps are still available? Send me a link to the as if you have it and I'll grab one :) My ODO says 13000 miles, sure it's been around once! Can't wait to see the wheels on your car. Wish I had money for wheels hahaha
  9. Looks sweet! Love your choice of steering wheel, I so wish mine still had the original stereo but the previous owner cut the dash and put a CD player in. I recently purchased a new sealed beam for mine from Bursons, the filament inside was coated blue on the tip to give a whiter light. Looks ok on the road but I'll chase a standard one soon. Here's a link to mine, SE model too :) http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/62702-marks-rt81-corona-mid-gearbox-conversion/page__pid__674773__st__135#entry674773
  10. Carbies look great man. The detail you are putting into them will pay off when it's all together! I'm sure these larger ones will do a bit better than the last ones too :)
  11. 4 days above 40 degrees in Adelaide. And 46 this Thursday. I don't do hot weather
  12. Well this beast is now rocking a 5 speed. Pretty happy with the outcome, sits on 3000rpm doing 100kph, rather than the 4000 it used to sit on. A lot quieter to cruise in and can get her over 80mph (130kph) pretty easy. Crap pictures again but here's the crossmember we made up, the steel is 10mm thick so it's definitely not going anywhere haha
  13. This happened last night: I don't even know myself anymore :/

Wagn came into my work yesterday. Car looked wicked
  15. Thanks pal! Yeah I was a little annoyed about the crossmember not lining up but happy that it'll all fit and work out soon!
  16. EDIT: no idea why the last two pics are sideways, stoopid iPhones. ... So! Started the conversion yesterday. Was looking pretty simple. The bracket turned out great, I did mine pretty different to yours though Glenn. It has three bolts holding it in. We had to play around with it a little to get the slave cylinder rod to not sit on an angle (pointing outwards from the box). But it's all square and solid as. I bought a clutch for the W50 - which was wrong, turns out I needed to use a W40 clutch. So I got a fresh one (luckily I found one locally). Went to put the box in and the gearbox mount is further back on the W50 than it was on the W40, and doesn't line up at all with the cross member mounts. So I've got some steel and will be making up a whole new crossmember on Monday, then she'll be sweet! Here's some crap progress pics, and a pic of how far out the mounts were. I have heaps more pics, just picked these to show the bracket and how the box didn't line up haha. Will put up picks of the crossmember on Monday.
  17. I'd love to know where it was! Completely agree with Reed, my partners car has some sketchy tyres from Ukraine on it and they have held up (still plan on replacing them though). A split sidewall is obviously a pretty major fault with the product they sold you, and you are well within a reasonable time period for them to give you a replacement or refund. I'd ACCC the shit out of them.
  18. Haha I struggled with toyodiy before, I'll give it another try :)
  19. Hey guys! I know not many of you would have experience with W40 and W50 gearboxes, but hoping someone can tell me if a W40 shifter will fit into a W50 box? Any help would be great :) Cheers
  20. Yeah I'll need that grille one day! I need to mod the back of it so I can flip up my mesh headlight covers, they are on at the moment but because of the shape of the grille I can't open them. So I'll grab that one and hack it up one day! Good to see you got yours sorted. Looks good after a wash!
  21. A guy at my work is selling a UC with an injected 202 and air con. Should've bought his, I'm sick if seeing it out the front haha
