  1. i believe peter williamson built them himself with help form tosco (trd),he was a toyota dealer ... the ra23 GT he had was a import for racing, and the ra40s were genuine GTs brought over for racing ...
  2. it is actually just a 18rg, with all TRD parts in it and bosh mechanical fuel injection making 200hp :) , and loved to rev :D
  3. alright update time...... yesterday, dad and me competed in the cooper memorial sprint rally we spent most the week getting the car ready and had some good lights finally.... the car was looking and sounding great on the transport to the first stage but as we took off on the first SS the car struggled away from the line :( it had fouled the plugs or the coil was breaking down , but we soldiered on sounding like a lawn mower :P , still had great fun and didnt finish last :) , here are the links to photos and videos https://www.facebook.com/feralstephdesigner http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpP9cpBGsOQ

  9. on sunday we took the beast for a run around the famous phillip island race track :) i was not driving it :( , as i was in the wrx :) the day started of very wet for the first 2 runs but dried out very quich which lead to some fun racing :P) the ra23 got a 2:16 lap time and i was only 10 seconds quicker in the wrx.... the car performed well but did get a little hot but nothing major went wrong :) now some arty shots TEQ , FTW!!!!!!! the mighty 18-rg :) photos from http://www.narraphotography.com.au/ and http://www.facebook.com/feralstephdesigner?fref=ts go check them out ;)

  14. hi all this is my familys track car project it is a late 1979 ra40 coupe we brought the car for the engine then relised the car was a rust free coupe :D ... the engine is a 18-rgu twin valve spring model, and a w50 gearbox here it is when we got it
  15. thanks ryan, yes iam puttting a wing on the back ,and flares but not such big flares thanks for that rob
  16. hhahah plently of ideas ;) , brought a early 88230-18rg 9.7:1 pistons :D and bigger cams and a w57 (close box and 12 kg lighter) , going to rebuild motor with bigger valves/porting and 45 webers, should be making around 150-165 hp at the flywheel. and looking at a 7.5" diff out of a tarago so 40 mm wider and heaps stronger also got heaps more spare parts for the rg ;)
  17. hahaha its not a bad thing its very good :D , thanks for the pics , i really like the celicas done up for track and i am actually building one ;) , it amazing how much better the celicas went then everything else in the class :)
  18. i believe they use a computer to run a coil pack on each cylinder and just use a crank sensor to tell it when to fire , it is simple to do and not to expensive ,but they may have done it another way...
  19. yeah ive seen the bates car , its running a 3sge :) it sounds awesome as :) yeah they look sweet done up in rally spec :) , yeah i saw a while back that they might build a few more , wouldn't be cheap..... the drive line would cost more than to build a club rally car
  20. thanks mate , the ra40s do look good when they have work done on them :) especially the track ra40s ;)
  21. the car when i brought it to my house... got the motor and gearbox out ... and started removing the sound deadner pulled the wiring loom out and dash also removed the doors and tailgate... sending it off to my uncles to gt seam welded :)
  22. gday all my name is sebastian iam 16 years old and have been playing around with toyotas for around 2 years first we started off with a 1980 ra40 that we got to autocross events and very soon our collection grew to about 6 celicas :) so any way i wanted to do rallying so started building myself a car ... it started of like this got it for $200 from ballarat , it is a factory auto :( but not to worry as i have enough bits to make it Manuel i am planning on painting like the 1979 ra40 TTE 'african safari' celica i quickly started stripping it to much suprise there was little rust , i got most of the interior stripped then soon stopped work on it as we brought the ra23 to rally for this year so my car was put on hold as i was working on the ra23 getting it ready to race... .
