  1. not sure if i will be going now, mates falcon needs a headgasket. it didnt like 35+psi, made 960rwhp on 33psi but needs better head studs for more boost
  2. haha cheers, ive got a mate taking his 1000hp bf falcon to the drags saturday and he is trying to get me to race so if i get time i will be racing saturday
  3. hopefully in the next couple of months for test and tune, just got to pull my finger out and do the roll cage
  4. finally got around to putting the new 255/60 et streets on the car, rear rims are 15x8 and definatly fill the guards out. they also seem to work better than the 235 ones i took off. the tires are also 1 inch taller than the ones that came off so should be good to run so more mph now at the track
  5. got to get new rims made for the bigger tyres and will be doing cage very soon so probably early new years for the drags
  6. the bottom end will do as its told, and right now I'm telling it to like lots of boost lol. I'm not to worried about it at the moment i have two spare engines anyway, my mate has a 2jzgte jza80 and its made close to 900hp on standard motor. pistons in 1jz/2jz look basically the same and rods in 1jz are just as thick as 2jz but shorter so technically they are stronger. at the moment id imagine that mine is making around 800 flywheel HP (the gearbox place that did my convertor said that with a standard convertor i should see around 700rwhp) it really needs a aftermarket convertor something like a TCE that doesnt kill the power like my modified toyota convertor, but thats around $1500 and another 100hp would mean my input shaft in the gearbox would last about 3 seconds
  7. yes it is standard mx83 diff and it will be the last thing to break, shane crighton (1jz747) cressida is down to mid 8 second passes on standard diff and scott hoffman also runs a cut down standard g series in oke020. they are 30 spline axles standard
  8. yeh it comes on boost really hard which is good for power not so good for traction lol. i will upgrade my computer next year and then may add some more boost, I'm kind of happy with where it is now as its still reliable and hasnt let me down so not sure if i want to push my luck to much
  9. I'm going to start using this for a daily again now that its finished, ive also got my M/T et streets back on now that i destroyed the other tyres so its a little safer. do you think this will be enough boost for a daily http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrzCJWAPrUo
  10. can't wait to see this thing finished going to be a weapon
  11. definately need bigger tires http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owMcsfNk1eI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AgJBVF4yDU
  12. so we put it on the dyno tonight and did a ramp without changing anything else and it turned the tires hard made 34psi and was heaps leaner than before, so instantly we know that turbo flows heaps more by the 7psi more boost and lean mixtures. i had to turn the bleed valve in two turns to get it back to the same boost as the to4z. so it made 601 rwhp on 29psi vs the 560rwhp that the to4z made on 28psi, i really should have got some tires bigger than 205's for the dyno but was to lazy and I'm not really a dyno queen anyway. at least we know it makes more than 600hp just not sure how much, it did get a couple of max dutys in the log from the injectors but that may be fuel pumps starting to run out not the injectors. at the end of the day i think its probably got at very least 50rwhp more than when i ran 10.2 so no drama running a 9 now in full street trim:yup: here is a dyno on the 3 turbos we tested, it looks as if its laggier than the other two but its just because we tried to ramp it softer to stop the wheelspin but didnt work. lag is around the same on all 3 turbos
  13. had to move wastegae and remake part of the dump pipe but its all done ready for some dyno time
  14. so tested garrett t66 vs to4z and results are pretty well as i thought, turbos are identical only difference is plain bearing for t66 and ball bearing for to4z. turbo was changed while the car was still strapped on dyno same tune nothing changed, t66 actually made 7 hp more on 2 pound less boost but its close enough to call them same. for all you die hard ball bearing turbo lovers it was definately no better for lag. will be testing new turbo next week
  15. did a couple of dyno ramps today with the old turbo before it got pulled off and made 567rwhp on 26psi, its still really hard to get it to not spin the tires on the dyno but hopefully will get some sort of back to back testing. will do the t04z in the morning with the same boost then precision turbo will either be tomorrow or early next week
  16. one like this you mean. it will go on when i get a chance, and will probably turn boost up to around 12psi see what it makes. wouldnt mind putting more boost into it but want to keep it reliable and at the end of the day its still slow so no point pushing it
  17. fisinhed this last night. i guessed with the drill bit for the jet size but couldnt of got it more perfect, if you look at the dyno graph it has 12.0 afr's as flat as ive ever seen with any car. drove it around last night and started with 10 degrees of timing wasnt enough so went to 20 degrees and left it there, then added an extra 5 degree on the dyno. so has 25 degrees static and vacuum advance takes it to around 35 degrees off boost and when boost comes in its back to 25 no sign of any detonation. its just running 8psi straight off the actuator, will drive it for a little bit then will probably see how 14psi looks :lolcry: . the dyno graph is before and after boost so made a good improvement
  18. yeh I'm thinking that the precision will go around 50hp more on the same boost and the other two will be about the same
  19. yeh budget builds are always the most fun, i figured out today that the vacuum advance isnt working so will need to get a new diaphram for it so i can have advanced under vacuum and it will retard as soon as boost comes in
  20. bad things happen when i get bored, i have a yn85r hilux as my run around to pick up parts and so on and have been driving it a fair bit lately so ive had boost withdrawals from not driving the cressida. so i bought a wrx standard turbo off a mate for $100 and I'm going to do a blow through weber carby set up. i spent today doing half of the job so all i really have to do is make a J pipe for the turbo, exhaust and boost pipe. ive done as much as i can so its still drivable and will try do the rest next weekend. first thing i did was pull the sump off and weld a fitting in for the oil drain then i pulled dissy apart and drilled two holes and put screws in to stop the mechanical advance, i set it to 20 degrees but was was to gutless so its now probably around 28 degrees. then found a t-piece in the shed that will run the oil feed line for the turbo from the oil sender, and also drilled and tapped a thread in the bottom side of the fuel pump (under the diaphram). the theory behind the fuel pump is that if you add boost pressure under the diaphram it makes up for the pressure of the boost in the carby. if you don't do this the pressure of the boost pushes the fuel out of the carby and back to the fuel tank. so technically i don't think it adds fuel pressure it just equalises it, a mate of mine gave me the idea and he said hes done it before and worked well so will see. worst case if it doesnt work will just buy a fuel reg and electric pump. then made a boost hat for the carby, id already put the carby on a while ago so that part was already done. i didnt have an air filter to suit so you will see my quality alternative if all goes to plan it should only cost about $300 and I'm thinking on around 8-10psi should double my power. i have a dyno graph somewhere from when i put the weber carby on, it was the first carby id tuned and turned out okay for a stock 2y (1.8 litre) with a weber, think it made 62rwhp so i suppose the goal will be around 120rwhp heres a picture of the parts rig in action its about the only one of have of it, its not something i really would normally show off
  21. I like my postman he always brings good presents
