ive been having thoughts about if i cage this car or start on something that is lighter and will be easier to make faster later on, so I'm trying to think what car to do. it has to weigh 1000kg standard for a 1jz conversion to be legal as it will be registered and a big enough engine bay for a straight 6 engine. my first thoughts are early celicas i think ra28 was just over 1000kg from factory also something like xt130 corona which is probably around 1100kg. other things that crossed my mind were early hilux but I'm not sure if engine bay is big enough and i don't mind the look of s13 silvia but not sure if a could bring myself to owning a nissan. if i can get a car to weigh around 1300kg with a similar engine setup that i have now should be able to break the 9.5 second barrier no dramas using a standard 1jz a340 toyota box and hilux diff. i could do the usual and put a 2jz bottom end in mine and make another 100-150hp and would be fairly cheap, but not sure how long the gearbox would like it and i really like the 1jz engine more. other option is to build a forged motor for the cortina so i can push it abit further than planned

power play this weekend time to destroy some tires

wasnt going to put one in until i raced again, so may happen soon if i get the energy

need wider tires for next time has a 1.49 60 foot in it which should go very close to a 9.99

ordered a turbo beanie so my bonnet doesnt get so hot from the turbo, and should also help spool slightly quicker keeping the heat in. also put my drag wheels on yesterday ready for the drags tomorrow they are 15x6 corolla/camry on the front with 205/65 15 tires and rears are corolla/camry with 7 inch commodore bands and 235/60 15 et street. if funny how stock it looks with the steel wheels, hoping for around a 10.2 at 130+mph tomorrow but will see what happens. i have 5psi more boost than last time when it ran 10.5 and also ran last time with my heavy 20's on the front and spare tire in the boot.

this was the rubber on the roof after the second ramp, had alot more on there when we did about 10 ramps. thinking about going next saturday to the drags

dyno went okay apart from both sets of tires that we tried wanted to turn to smoke, ended up making 530rwhp on 28psi but all runs were with a fair amount of wheelspin as you can see in this video, we made 530rwhp last time on 23psi so we are now on 28psi and have put more fule in and its using the fuel so is making more power. will have to see what mph it runs at the track. either way I'm happy that its on 28psi and seems to be loving it and didnt blow up dyno run

time for tune tomorrow hopefully makes a good number and doenst try and spin the tires again on the dyno

yes will be good for us both to go to the drags at the same time, i need a little competition to keep me motivated to go faster

1.69 is not bad, best 60 foot i could get when i ran 11.006 was 1.65 that was with 440rwhp and 123mph. what sort of power does his make?

yeh its not always easy to run a good time, do you know what 60 foot and mph he ran?

yeh I'm excited about next trip to the drags to ordered a new set of et streets today as the other ones are getting a little low, so tune saturday and fit new tires up next week then I'm ready for the strip. considering it went 10.5 really easy last time on 23psi if we get a good run on 30psi may see single numbers but will be happy with 10.2 and 135mph
