  1. hey guys i have a ke70 and the head gasket is leaking oil everywhere it uses water alot and baisicly its on its last legs and i was looking for something that is worth changing it for, i plan to later drop an sr20 in but just to keep it on the road till i save my pennys. I have been looking into 2t but couldnt find much, i noticed they meet up to k series boxes so that would be handy, but can i just use the crossmember with the 2t. what do 2t's even come in coronas or something? And even the 18rc, if the ra 40 x member fits straight in wich i am almost positive it does i colud look into that but id prefer to stay with the cable clutch
  2. hey guys i have been racking my brain trying to choose between 20v or sr20 and i have decided to go sr as i plan to turbo in the future. i have an 83 flat front ke70 i got some ma61 wheels the other day i have corona LCA's and cut and shut knuckles to go in but they will need to go when i put the motor in as i will upgrade the brakes, i will be just slowly getting parts together before i start doing anything but i just want to do as much research as possible as i will be doing the whole conversion myself. first off is the not so important but would like to know... speedo? is there a way i can get the standard speedo working or i was thinking custom fit an aftermarket one in or possibly even whole s13 dash cluster. tacho? i assume it is easy to get the standard one running but aftermarket is an easy option now important stuff with custom engine mounts will the motor fit straight in i have read that people had troubles but i have been told its a straight fit. thats about all for now cheers

  4. does anyone know if this is the kind of part i am going to be able to buy an aftermarket bit for or if my best bet is going to be a wreckers? cheers.
  5. solved guys cheers for the help, it turned out to be a vacume leak under the carbie, it was solved by running the car and spraying degreaser around the bottom of the carbie and the revs would increase when the fumes would be drawn into the carbie by the leak and wh where able to source it in a matter of secconds. verry helpful tip.
  6. i have a 1983 auto ke70 it has been driving fine untill today i tryed to drive it and it ran fine in neutral and when shifted into drive it would splutter a bit, then when i try take off it just splutters like its not getting fuel, the bands need to be tightend in the auto but i am converting it to manual so i just need to keep it running for a bit longer, if i pull the choke all the way out it runs ok but putting my foot down it barely picks up speed, i am going to try fuel filter, and there is a screw that is normaly on the front of the carbie that goes to a little vaulve thingo I'm going to try put a screw back in that and see if it does anything, I'm going to tighten the bands and clean the mesh filter. other than that I'm stumped... f*#king autos, good for nothing. cheers, mozzy.
  7. a comodore is not a performance car how ever it does make some power from factory sure it drives like a 70yr old woman but it will still get you moving. i hate comodores but you have to remember what most of the people on here forget... and that is that corollas are not a performance car in the slightest they are ment for familys of small people with no balls, as from factory they have an awesome 30 or 40 somthing kw lol don't get me wrong i love corollas but i have realised there kids matchbox cars no good for moving a high speeds, with lots of power, that como is stock and makes 160 with a turbo and almost no boost, someone show me a stock corolla that could do that with out blowing the tiny diff and gearbox to bits, as much as i hate to say it but it don't work, corollas take to much of other cars to make them good so why not just buy a good car to start with, no one ever uses corolla parts in other cars and i see why, not in anyway saying go buy a comodore because then you will just be like everyone else, that is the reason i don't like them and to be honest ke70's a like that now everyone has them, I'm not knocking either cars here I'm just saying its hard to say its crap because its a comodore when it prob makes more power than most on here, after all there still corollas, the point I'm trying to prove is yes it is a como yes they are pretty gay but i will admit with a good set of wheels (I'm keen to see what a como will look like with wide 17's, dish, good off set and streched tires) lipped guards and stiff suspention some neg and take some shit out to make it reasonable it could be good. japan will alwayse produce better cars its a fact :lolcry:
  8. I'm just curious i have read other places that to use the sr brakes in a ke one of the things you need to do is use a s13, r32 3 or 4 abs master, why is this, couldnt you just use a standard s13 or r3 yadada... why is this and is it nessacary. and does anyone know what they are worth and what not. cheers, moz,
  9. hey guys I'm building a 1ggte ke70 and its obvious the stock diff will not handle the power I'm just gonna save my self the hassle now and get onto the diff, i have been looking around a bit and r31 sound like it could be a goer i don't want to break the bank i just want something thats pretty easy to convert over to.
  10. just curious if anyone has done it and how hard it is. thanks
  11. well i realised that, i just ment like how good is it realy i mean in theary it sounds like it would work pretty well. it will be a daily driver mainly but a bit of track fun/drifter and abit of everything i guess. just an all round car lol
  12. hey guys i have a gz10 soarer at the moment and its defected i might have to upgrade the brakes and i don't realy wanna i just wanna sell it with out spending $$ on it but i don't want to loose heaps, the diff is also having some dramas as the lsd was shot.. any who i am just thinking of taking the motor, box, clutch, stereo and what ever else i can salvage for a ke70 and part off the rest of the parts and get as much back as i can. bit of a run down of parts and ideas so i can sorta toss up wether its worth it my mate owns an import yard and can help me with custom parts and mounts and shit 1ggte (stock for now) i also have a spare with no turbos front mount single turbo manifold (custom work) vg30 turbo just use the fuel pump from my car now it obviously works 3" straight through with 2 or even 3 hot dog muflers( i don't want it to be an obvious give away that its a 6 not a 4 lol) spja front coil overs with ajustable camber caster tops some ajustable gas shocks in the rear and stiffer spings i have a sparco fixed back bucket seat for it (custom rails) boost 15psi id say locker till i can get a t series with lsd abviously get a tail shaft I'm pretty sure there is a place that does them pretty cheap some sort of dishy 15'' wheels old school look preferably then i duno som other bits and peices. let me know what you think
  13. seriously dude if u want my oppinion, keep ur interia in and keep ur car looking as stock as possible if u get coil overs keep it at the right height (i think its something like 360mm from the center of the hub to the arch in the gaurd) and make it look as normal as u can and make sure you get rid of as many defects as u can and just drop a 4age into it because i have one in mine and when i got defected the cops opened the bonnet and the first thing they said was where is ur cam cover and thats it i could see them looking for a turbo but thats about it, because the motor looks like its ment to be there so it don't look out of place, its an easy little coversion and they make good power, when i got defected it was only for fray in the drivers seat belt, play in the steering, tail lights to dark, wipers/washers didnt work and reverse lights wernt plugged in, i had bald tyres and they said that i should get new ones and thats it nothing about the motor i just said i brought it not long ago and i just been cleaning it up and thats it and they had no clue. so my point is that if u strip ur interea u will run the chance of a defect over nothing and its obvious that there is no seats in there, but the motor u can have a bit of a chance of them not noticing, also the engine numbers on the stock 4ac are 4axxxxxxxx and they are the same as the 4age witch is also 4axxxxxx i thought about going to motor reg and saying the old motor blew up and i brought a new one from the wreckers and give them the 4age engine numbers then it would be registered with that motor :y: i meean they shouldnt notice.... i hope my novel i just wrote was some help lol because it took me a life time to type it lol
  14. car is gutted now getting ready for frift days, no need to fix this i will replace the whole front end one day, thanks for all ur help tho guys now i know for next time..
  15. baisicly i get defected for steering play in my ae71, is there a way to tighten it up, thanks moz
  16. yeh i made a tamplate out of metal coat hanger and took that in and got exatctly what i needed, as for the throttle cable i have been told to try a sprinter one, i can't see why it wouldnt work i might just take the old one in and compair it, thanks guys
  17. the ke55 and ke70/ae71 susspention is slightly different... in the ke55 the shocks bolt up under the back seat and the obvious leaf springs.. the ke70/ae71 the shocks go vertualy straight up from the diff like most cars do now days... the to of the shock is like one bolt that goes through a hole instead of ur more common strut top like the front with the 3 holes... this is why ae86 coil overs do not fit in the rear of the 55 or 70/71 u can with some smaller coilovers (ajustable) take the strut top off and u are left with a pin and u put that in the origanal hole and wack a nut on the top and off ya go :P i know these facts as i used to own a ke55 and now own a ae71 so yeh i got half an idea lol suspention was the main reason i sold my 55 i hate leaf lol hope i helped in some way
  18. ok guys I'm half way through my 4age ae71 convertion and i have ran into a few problems i have realised the throttle cable is way to short and i need some sort of flexi radiator hose.. what sort of throttle cable do i need and what do i do about the radiator hose... thanks guys i have the motor and box all bolted up all i have left is the wiring and exhaust and some sort of surge tank set up for the efi.. and the obvious radiator hose ect

  24. hey i have a 4age 16 vaulve and a ae71 and I'm putting them together next weekend so i need some info on fuel set up i just want the thing to be able to run i don't want some flash million dollar set up so whats the baisic go for this convertion thanks moz
  25. hey guys I'm just waiting on some money to come through but it should be in by the weekend, the stock 4ac its slowly shiting its self it keeps chewing so much oil its not funny so i guess the rings are f@$ked, it keeps stalling when u pull up and yeh so I'm sick of it and i want my 4age in... baisicly I'm gonna go and buy a fuel pump (if anyone has any spesific fuel pump they use and you can just buy it off the shelf or order it that would be good also) and i guess thats all i need on the fuel side of things then I'm gonna do all the wiring and shit my self and then when its all going ill tow it down to the exhaust place and get a 2 and a 1/4 inch exhaust made then ill drive away with a smile on my dial. if anyone in adelaide has done the wiring them self it would be grand if you could give me some tips of what not thanks. moz
