  1. I have a ke55 sedan with square lights and a 1979 ke55 coupe with round light, i took everything off both and it was going well, i checked that the round from the 79 would fit the 80 and it did, sweet, then it came to the square onto the round and dammit needed the little supports from the 80. is the only way to do it to get the supports off the 80 and weld em in place on the coupe?
  2. whats it like? wanna sell it to me??? looks like you got your hands full and i been looking for one for ages
  3. get it towed, my uncle owns a goodyear but hes always so busy. can the mobile mechanics machine it?
  4. lol i drop the clutch and it idles! then i rev it to 5k to lurch forward but not enough power to get out of an indent the tyres made in the grass after sitting still for a year.
  5. ok i went out and checked everything. theres no fluid leaking and the reseviour cylinders were full and stayed full after pumping heaps of times. rmeoved the boot on the box near the starter and it was dry. where do we go from here? i don't think i have the tools or know how to rip the engine and gearbox out to look at things inside. how much do u rekon a mechanic would charge to get into it and change the clutch plate...or whatever else it could be?
  6. thanks guys. Id like to cover all bases before going on to other things, i think it just saves headaches later. thanks for the indepth info budowski! i really appreciate it! Ill check the things you listed and post up my results. Hopefully its just a clutch plate, but it did get worked mega hard and run into the ground. So more likely than not, other things have broken with it. Bleeding brake fluids is one of the few things ive done before and with ur awesome instructions even i can't screw it up :)
  7. ill tell you myself i don't know anything lol. I'm very novice. its a manual, and i put it into gear and nothing happens when i take my foot completely off the clutch pedal. then when its just sitting there in first gear it doesnt stall, and i revved it to 5000 and it lurched slightly forward but couldnt get out of the tiny holes the wheels r sitting in. how do i check for those things you suggested it might be?
  8. hey guys, my old man used to drive this car but then it started havign troubles and instead of fixing it, just let it be run into the ground. The gears would change fine but you would have to rev the ring out of it to get it to drive. The car has been sitting in my yard for over a year now withour being started. I went down this morning and pumped the accel a few times and it started frist go. what great cars! but when put into gear it didnt drive, didnt even stall. I revved it real hihg, around 5k and got the car to lurch forward slightly. I have a ke55 so i don't know much about this model and I'm still a novice when it comes to cars. The engine still runs nice and smooth but idles a bit low (easy fix?). My bro wants to get this running again so he can drive. what do you guys think is the problem? my guess is gearbox or clutch? thanks.
  9. i broke the needle in half , its on and working now, but its like a little stub pointing at the numbers
  10. i was fixing my tacho yesterday cos it stopped working, but stupid me was lying on the floor under the steering wheel and thought id give the tacho a pull to see where the wires spread off too......but i poked the speedo needle and it snapped off :P my question is, has anyone else been a tard like me, and how did u replace it? is there a bonding glue i can use? thanks all, Calam. ....GO QUEENSLAND
  11. i knew i couldnt be the only one with a mental car!
  12. So lows turn on fine, and pulling the stalk towards you turns highs on fine, but if you push the stalk towards the dash to turn on highs all the lights cut out? I'd be betting there's a short or something in your combination switch, rather than in the headlights themselves. yeh thats what happens. Ill do what spittao suggested and try to grab myelf a new one. I been on a quest recently fixing up all little things that bother me and this has been on the list for a while. just one more problem. Any wreckers in brisbane south area that have pre 1980 rollas?? i called around a few months ago and nobody had them lying around.
  13. Ive had this problem for a while and its really been bugging me. When i flick my high beams on, all my lights go off, but if i pull it bak, the high beams work fine. I pulled the cover off around it all and cleaned the crap out and still has the problem. I dunno why it is doing it or even how. Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it? thanks, Calam.
  14. :lolcry: thanks mate, ur a legend. ill let u know if I'm in trouble. :fuzz:
  15. thanks for the offer, but it doesnt seem to complicated to me, the hard part seems finding the part.....or if u just think my cars an absolute beast and want to come play with it intimately under the hood who am i to say no.
  16. found the problem, yes, bought the bits, no. i asked where i can find some but they were still talknig about how to diagnose faults. I'm still starting my car up with a wire from the battery to the terminal, its pretty sad, if i can't source a new relay ill just run my own ignition cable to inside the car after christmas when i have time.
  17. 68% that didnt have much to do with cars. i never did physics with pulleys so i got all them wrong.
  18. can't fix it if u don't know whats wrong
  19. ok, all good, ive worked out what the problem is. It is that little blue cube. i touched a cable from the batt to the terminal on the cube that runs to the solenoid to rule out a short in that wire, and it started up first go. started instantly when i touched it. my starter motor must be in tip top shape but my cube is stuffed. now the only problem i have is where do i get anohter one? went into repco today and they didnt have one.
  20. i put 12v straight to the starter and kicked her over :P. I'm gonna go buy a new relay and ballast resistor and if that doesnt work and i can't find any shorts in the wiring, I'm just gonna make my own ignition switch thats hidden in the car. any thing wrong with this?
  21. so if i turn the key over and i get no reading coming from of 87?
  22. edit** my grounds are all good. espescially from my batt. yeh my grandad used to do that for a magna wagon too haha. he has this long bar he taps with a hammer when it doesnt start up. i just got bak in from stuffing around with it. couldnt get it to kick over by shorting that terminal. what is that little cube that comes from the battery and has a few terminals on it. Its what makes the clicking sound and it sounds the same when i took the clip off to short the two terminals together as KE30 KE35 KE55 told me to do. I put my multimeter onto that little cube (is it a relay?) and the only point on it with a charge was the one directly connected to the battery. one was a ground and i don't know what the other 2 were for, but they didnt have a charge when i switched the key, lights or radio. Does it definantly sound like the starter motor?
  23. ok thanks alot! ill get to pull me tools out and have a play tomorrow :P hope it goes well.
  24. thread reseructed for that post alone ^^^^^^^^^^ haha the bigger the problem the bigger tha hammer
