Picked up an RA23 today! Seen it for sale outside someones house as i was driving along and i jumped on it right away. This is going to be my daily driver and hence my 929 is for sale. The car is in stunning condition, 100% orginal with the exception of a CD player which will be moved to the glove box, couple of small pin dents and tiny imperfections in the paint but over all the best car (condition wise) i have ever owned. Interior is overrated, no tears anywhere. Standard console cut however. Original 18R-C, which isnt exactly a powerhouse but it runs beautiful. One other interesting note is that this car is fitted with Factory Air Conditioning! Very very very rare. Plans: Wheels Suspension GT Parts (grille, mirrors, etc) Heres a couple quick pictures, i will take more when i have had time to clean up the car Gav classic style.

Sure it has nothing to do with rat rods, but this car would be considered 'rat' style, which will always be connected in some shape or form with rat rods.

Yes! You put pictures up. This is hands down one of my fav cars of all time. Styling is 100% perfect. I love Mk1 Cortina's and i love rat style so this thing just works. Congrats of all the success you have had with the car! Fantastic write up too.

You mean door mounted? I quite like no mirrors on these things, looks very clean and changes up the lines a little bit.

i love type 3 selecta! Ive tried the peer mirror thing on my orange one, it doesn't work. Just doesn't look right.

Its a big show, attracted hundreds of cars this year and 5000+ people! The amount of people that commented on the rocks was insane haha

Wonder why they are not popular now? I wonder how much their worth? Done a bit of work today. New rear 195/70/R15 to fill the guards a little better than the 165's. New 3" whitewalls (not for everyone, i think they f@$king rock) Painted inner guards Raised rear and dropped front (slight rake) Now what colour should i paint the wheels?

Wow that square looks good, i love the bumper but it would be a fair amount of work. I hate the reverse rake on these too, tomorrow its going up 1-1.5" once i can figure out the splines. Whats a supertrapp? The rear sill line is roughly 1" lower at the moment, and the rear looks way lower because of the guard line. I can drive it like this but my friends the police wouldnt dig it. Especially when it has 3" whitewalls. My orange one has the sway bar about 20mm from the ground, i sure know what scraping is ;) BUT since the orange one has 14" rims it doesnt look quite as low. Where as this is an instant cop magnet. Having my corolla defected for being too low I'm a little un-easy about going too crazy low. And thats a great idea about the bonnet, everything i do with be removable (stripe will be vinyl etc) so ill be able to revert back to stock if i wanted to at any stage.

dropped the back end today and it turned out too low ;) I was hoping the height would be even with the front. I feel too hood rich (commodore style) with the height like this. Ohh by the way check out my sick exhaust haha

That was originally the plan Luke! But some of the vw boys have convinced me out of it because it's actually a pretty good car. I think it will be partial rat but not full on.

Although would be amazing i forgot to mention this car will be done on a budget :D

Haha theres no option but low for me I'm afraid. The front end is already down just gotta get the rear down.

Hell how did you find that one out? Heres a couple snaps from a show i entered tonight in my orange one. It was a hot rod, rat, custom, pre 1970 show down the main street of Tanunda, absolute hundreds of cars and around 4000 people! I happened to be the ONLY VW at the show! Most people seemed to like it :D

Picked up another fastback today at a price i just couldn't say no to. Runs great, drives beautiful, minimal rust and only a few dents. Interior is a little bashed but I'm not too fussed. Plans: Slam Walls Put on my overrated bumpers Open to suggestions? Especially for colour scheme. I have lots of other ideas but I'm looking for suggestions until i decide exactly what I'm doing. Crappy photoshop but you get the idea, just tossing a few things around. Current paint matte'd back with splashes of satin blak here and there.

Amen to that. Darryl has done like 10 or 12 sets of tyres for me brother and me. Best whitewalls in SA hands down. Although he has been doing it for years and years.

They would be the same machines that everyone else uses. From the gallery whoever done those whitewalls has a reasonable steady hand was their quite thin a couple of them. Just wanted to get some walls done or think of leasing a machine?

I put them in my Ke20, used the standard mounts and used the sill panel somewhere to mount the other anchor point (as it was part of the chassis). can't remember exact details but it was easy and looked 100% stock.
