  1. yeah? hmm. i just don't want it to be unsafe or anything, 'spose you wouldn't pass an engineers cert if it were. Dyzza
  2. hey well these are the rims that were on the laser i used to fang around in. They are 15 x 6, but have the offset of a wrong wheel drive. The rims sit nicely on the back (could sit 10mm out from the body), but hit the strut on the front (surprise surprise). At the mo' i've got the 15s on the back, with 13" hotwires on the front. I know you can get spacers so you can fit these rims, but i know it chews up some of the thread on your studs ( = weaker ). I was thinking of putting in longer studs to suit, but I think Mr. Policey has spacers in his little black book under the ILLEGAL section. Should i abandon all hope of my beast cruisin round with these rims? Check the foto out so you can see why i like. Cheers, Dyzza
  3. hey i pulled out the venturis, they were both loose as a goose. I jammed some thick paper/cardboard stuff between the edges of the venturi's and the groove they sit in on the carby. The noise is 60% gone, but still makes it when revving the motor stationary. Can barely hear it cruisin along at 100ks, more so at the slower speeds. I might pull them out again when i get sick of the noise and do a better job at it. Thanks again, Dyzza
  4. here here Cheers for the replies. i'll stick with the ca18de i think. Case closed! Dyzza
  5. Cheers mate. ... i'll give it a shot
  6. yeah just for road driving. nothin track or anything, everyday rolla. Cheers for the support, i'll see how i go ... i'd love a twincam ca18de ... Dyzza
  7. hey well what i did with my old car. .. i bought that paint on sound deadener (same stuff as the spray on stuff - but the paint on stuff is what i use ... ), and painted it under the wheel arches. I found thats where a lot of the noise is coming from (especially if you have 15" mags with low profile tyres). It worked pretty well, i noticed the difference. I also painted the stuff on the underside of the floor boarding (so i jacked the car up and painted the shizzle on). With my KE30, i'm gonna paint the same stuff over the plastic protector shizzle on the inside of the wheel arches. I have a fairly quiet little 4K motor (i love the noise of the weber when you plant it), but i wouldn't mind putting a couple of those sound deadener mats you can get under the carpet and against the fire wall. Speaking of stupid noises cars make, has anyone had a problem with a 32/36 DGV (or DGF ... can't remember) weber squeaking ? its an annoying noise it makes when you have your foot on the accelerator, like a whistle that air makes. The noise will go away if you put your foot down a little bit (say accelerating from 80 to 100) but once it hits that same amount of airflow into the motor, it squeaks like a baby ostrich. Its actually quite loud ... WHAT IS IT?? its driving me nuts. Cheers, Dyzza
  8. hey a mate of mine used to own a 5 speed, 2L pintara. Then it got written off. Up until then, it used to haul ass. Fuel injected, single cam, 2 spark plugs per cylinder if i remember correctly ... What are people's thoughts ? I know its a nissan motor, but i was going ca18de anyway, so i've already accepted the cross-manufacturer traitorship. ... Cheer, Dyzza
  9. yeah man feels good. already used to it but ... making plans to make it even quieter ... hehe dyzza
  10. damm, thats nasty! always wondered what'd happen if the bonnet popped open at high speed :) dyzza
  11. greetings rollings... well after being sick of the constant humming noise coming from the rear end of my little yella beast, i got new wheel bearings put in it. its now a quiet little car at 100 clicks. its got a pea shooter exhaust on it, so the only noise is the sucking of the weber and humming of extractors from the engine bay. its tops, you can actually talk to people at normal volume! I'm surprised how little road noise the little car has, i'm cheering... Anywhoo, thought i would share. Cheers, dyzza
  12. bruce ... my tacho is kinda big, i think its 4 or 5 inches across, a nice silver one with shift light and stuff. It sits where rolla___boy said - in front of where the factory clock is (or would be - my car doesn't have one). It looks good there, fits really well. The only thing is, with the steering wheel i have, I can't see all of the tacho - d'oh. Cheers, dyzza
  13. hmm I have put some different wheels on the back of the car. The ones that were on it were 13s with 185/50s; these ones are jellybean 13s with 205 / 60s. I think the previous wheels were an inch smaller than standard, and the jellybeans on it now are an inch too big. But it has made quite a difference - its sittin at aboot 3,100. Cheers
  14. Yeah dude Mudvayne are gonna kick ass! 123 GO! So F*CKING DETERMINED! I saw them about 6 months back when they were here playing in the arena. In case you don't know, they are touring independently of the Big Day Out as well - the night after the gold coast BDO. Tix are $56.10 through tickekek. I'm going to both - that will be mudvanye 3 times in 9 months! Dyzza
  15. hmm so 10L/100ks is pretty normal. I had a 1.5L laser that had a 32/36 weber, extractors, zorst that was gettin almost 14ks off a litre. That car hauled ass too ... I can't wait to put in the ca18de - power and economy! Dyzza
  16. Cheers for all the replies fellas A mate of mine swears blue that he had a KE35 coupe that kicked it at ~ 3,000 at 100 clicks ... did these have different ratios or is he speakin out his ass? Yeah it has lower profile tyres on 14 inch rims, the rear ones need to be an inch or so bigger in diameter to be normal, its affecting my speedo i'm sure ... Its got a 32/36 webber on it. It chugs down the fuel but ... I haven't got the original owner's manual, should i assume the tank is 55L like my old ke55 had ? I think its got tuning issues ... only gettin about 10ks off a Litre of juice ... i gotta change me foto <--- thats the last ke30 i had. Mine's yella Cheers, Dyzza
  17. hey guys I haven't posted much on here as of yet, uni is over so i'll be on here a fair bit. I've got a ke30 2door sedan, I'm getting pics up soon. I installed a tacho, and at a hundred clicks, the little 4k revs at approximately 3,500RPM. It has a 5 speed gearbox. Is this normal for a 5 speed 4K? I'm thinking its got a different diff in it ... In which case i will be replacing it soon. .. I did a search but couldn't find anything specific enough... Cheers guys, dyzza
  18. hey yeah hasn't been painted yet unfortunately. Will be asap, xr6 orange :) Cheers, i'll keep yas updated \m/
  19. hey fellas well the KE30 2 door project has been canned, a mate has taken over the honours. I've taken possession of Andrew's corona you guys saw at all toyota day (he's cruisin around in a ca18det silvia :) ) I also now have a 3s-gte frontcut. The corona, in a few months time, will be powered by a 2L, twincam, 16 valve, turbo, celica GT4 motor. stock: 165KW. (does anyone need a gt4 gearbox and driveshafts by any chance ;) ) Should get her movin (and drifting even ...) I picked up the frontcut dirt cheap. under half of what they are worth :o Anywhoo, i'll keep yall updated. We are boltin the motor into the engine bay hopefully next weekend. There's a few issues: Needs crank angle sensor as dizzy will hit firewall, will need custom plenum as intake comes over the rocker cover in east-west motors, and custom exhaust manifold. Oh yeah, gotta use a different sump, i've heard a 2S sump will be fine! Using a w58 supra box. Might just use the stock one in the meantime and mince that for fun. Oh yeah, it will have the rt142 dash complete with air conditioning! Other than that, i can't friggin wait to put me foot down in that puppy. Cheers, Dyzza
  20. oh yeah i just realised what ya meant Mr Revhead ... still has a cool number on it :) \m/
  21. hey yeah it has a zero in front of it .. reads something like 020000, i'll have a looksie tomozza ... \m/
  22. :) i dunno hey ... it was on the car when i got it !
  23. hey fellas ... I am in possession of 1 x 1974 KE30 2-door sedan, the 20,000th KE30 produced too :D The car has a small amount of rust in engine bay, that will be taken care of shortly. The car will be painted XR6 orange via a workshop where i know a guy ;) I have a j-spec mazda B6T engine that i plan to transplant into her, using an MX5 gearbox (since the motor was east-west from FWD tx3). These motors were rated at 115kw stock i believe. I have a Galant VR4 rally-spec intercooler to use (courtesy of Andrew whom which i swapped a set of mags & sideskirts for), with a slightly larger than stock turbo (from the BPT; 1.8L turbo tx3's/familias). I am missing the stock ECU & loom, and tossing up whether or not to go after market with this gear or not ... These rims are currently on my drivearound car, an old-school laser (thats where the sideskirts on Andrew's corona originated...) Since the offset is different, i'll have to get some spacers made up so she's all sweet (or just get some 16s =)). My Plates :D (taken with me camera fone too ...) Does anyone recognise the mirror in this foto? It's not the original one ... Nice Ass... :) Estimated completion date: end of 2005. Go the 2-doors ! How rare are these cars? I haven't seen any on the road since i've been looking ... Cheers fellas, Dylan aka Dyzza
  24. hey fellas ... Yeah will keep yas up to date! I might just go with aftermarket ECU & loom rather than keep the stock gear. I'm puttin fotos up under the Projects section too! I'm startin to sand her back and get her ready n primed as of tomorrow ... I have a month of holidays :) Cheers, Dyzza
