  3. Haha.... yeh I was Toyota-ing up the Bellett boys. Woulda been good to meet you finally. Ahh well....... will catch you somewhere no doubt. I had no idea the orange 70 was yours. Sent you a PM with a link to someone else's pics.... hence I won't post them on here.
  4. Crikey........ it may not be worth that sort of coin..... but what a hot piece of tin!
  5. Welcome to RollaClub. Good to see another one of these turn up. SoulSearcher and Karllos will be glad to have your company.
  6. Bahaha.... yeh and then Melbourne steals it from us one way or another...... can't stand still too long or someone from Victoria will steal the hole out of your arse. :blinks:
  7. Yet another excellent AJD !!! Well done and big thanks to all the organisers. Was good to catch up with a few of you guys down there and also to finally meet Luke and also cush. I took plenty of photo's, so I will get some up in the next few days. Props to Orange Spot Bakery too for providing my Breakfast and Lunch in exchange for a small some of money. One of the best bakeries in the world. :hmm:
  8. Hehe...... fortunately I don't care what people think. Elsewise I wouldn't have bought a Mazda 2 in the first place. Anyway it doesn't have whitewalls anymore. It's a bit trashed all round now actually. Sick!
  9. For you guys with old skool Rolla's there is a great show coming up in April. Rock 'N' Roll Rendezvous. Can enter anything pre-1978. Details as follows: WHEN: Sunday 18th April, 2010 (Opens at 10am) WHERE: Birdwood Motor Museum COST: $30 per Car This is a brilliant day out with an excellent mix of cars and entertainment. Entry not only gets you a look at hundreds of other classic cars and hot rods that have entered on the day, but also gets you into the Museum itself for a look at the cars that are on display year round. Below is a link for more information and you will also find a link on this page to the downloadable entry form: Rock 'N' Roll Rendezvous - Birdwood Motor Museum
  10. Yes you should enter. However you will have to wait until next year.
  11. Mate I think you need to re-read my post then. I did not take a lot of stabs at all. I didn't come on here and say your show was crap and you didn't put any effort in. I'm very aware of how much effort goes into organising a car show. It really isn't easy. You can't tell me you wouldn't have liked more cars to be at the show and shine. All I said was it was a disappointing showing. I'm not blaming you for that. In fact I gave several reasons why that may be (ie other car shows, fringe etc.). The other thing I did was suggest some ways that other car shows are promoted. You may or may not have done these things, but I am not aware of them. As far as I know the date did come together fairly late on (ie 2 to 3 months before the show only). Again, I may be wrong. There may be varying reasons for this, but all I am saying is it may help to lock away a date much sooner than that. If my post offended you then it was not my intention. My intention was in fact to help some people on here realise how much effort goes into making a car show come together and in fact to hopefully give some constructive feedback. I understand you are very protective of the show you put a lot of effort into organising...... but without feedback from people or perhaps advice from people then you make it harder to grow or improve an event. Don't come on here telling me I'm taking a lot of stabs.
  12. Bahahahaha........ funny stuff!
  13. Nice Luke. I'm glad you decided to do a thread. Will have a peek at it on Sunday. :P
  14. Wow RollaClub is becoming the forum of heated discussion. I agree that Luke was probably a bit harsh but it is true that it was a disappointing showing. Nothing to do with the cars that were there, but the fact that there was only 24 of them was a shame. I too was probably only there for 15 minutes. There are a few major factors for this. All Japan Day next weekend I believe is the major reason. I decided I would prefer to put my Rolla and Stout in AJD than in Toyoshow. Why? I like the size of the show and I like the variety in the show.... but mainly because I have friends with other Japanese makes that will be in AJD and we can all have our cars there together. AJD will get 200+ cars to it. Why not do both? Quite simply because of time constraints and that I have been showing cars for 15 years and I'm a bit over it so I pick and choose. Yep, it would have been great to have a bunch of the KE1x and KE2x folk represent at Toyoshow, but sadly the timing of the event also contributed to fewer entries I believe. On the same day was also All American Day. Personally I had committments there also and I know a couple of the other lads did too. On top of that there is a hell of a lot happening in Adelaide at the moment with the opening of Fringe being the same weekend. That means a lot of people have probably been out enjoying social activities and sitting all day in the sun at a carshow may not be what they wanted to do. Finally - Toyoshow was last held in 2008. It was not huge that year either. I had the Stout in that show and entries were sparse. As far as I know it was not held at all last year and then it was difficult to find a date this year too from my understanding. Due to that I think it all came together a little last minute. Car shows are very difficult to organise. The big shows start organising the next event as soon as the current one is over. They put 12 months effort into it. Toyoshow organisers did not do that. Also it has not been overly well promoted. The big car shows in the beginning went chasing cars or groups of enthusiasts. Contacting them with huge amounts of lead time asking them to display at a particular show. Unfortunately for an all one make show like Toyota.... it's not enough to put a couple of posts on forums and hope the hoards come. Perhaps more was done in promotion than this, but I certainly didn't see more. Personally if it were me I would be PM'ing people on forums also to try to get a slightly more personal approach to attracting entries. Also sending entry forms in the post to people who had previously entered. If you look at the big shows though..... they get a draw card..... a car that everyone knows or that will be impressive......... often from interstate........ this car or these cars are all over the promotional material..... come enter our show... it must be a great show to enter because we have this awesome car that is going to be there. Once you have built a rep for a car show then you are set. People will just come looking for your show. All American Day is a good example of this. Rock 'n' Roll Rendezvous is a good example of this. All British Day is an excellent example of this. Even all these shows still put a lot of effort into promoting their events. Toyoshow just needs to keep plugging away. Decide now when next years show is going to be and start planning it. At the very least 4 to 6 months before the show start actively promoting it and contacting people about it. It's the old retail story........ get a few employees of a shop to fuss around in one area like there is something happening. people bring people. Soon a customer comes over to look and another to see what that customer found that they may miss out on. Next you know you have 10 customers there.
  15. Perhaps if this was in the SA section you may have got a few of us to turn up. I for one would have come. Ah well.
  16. This topic cracks me up. Like Troy I have been doing Whitewalls and Flappers for 6 or more years. it has become VERY popular in Adelaide. Why? Because we have the greatest whitewaller in the country! Big Ups to Derel :) I don't mind seeing them on 50's, 60's, 70's cars and to be honest I'm down with them on an 80's, 90's or 2000's cars also. Hell I had them on a 2003 Mazda. If I got a 1923 Chev with wooden wheels I would probably paint whitewalls on them too, just to $h!t people. I have experimented with double whites and different widths of single whites. I have never done redwalls because they don't stand out as much as the whites. You can get blue, green, yellow and heaps of other colours too. Really it's as simple as this...... if you don't like it, don't get them. If you don't like them on other peoples cars.... who cares. For me it's not about being period correct.......... I just like it. I like Kit Kat's too. That doesn't mean someone else will. Maybe I will start painting my whole tyres yellow on all my cars and see if that can upset people.
  17. Yeh I wanna subscribe to that too. ;) Just trying to find the "Subscribe to Luke's PM's" button. :)
  18. Chobis

    Spotted

Spotted a mustard KE20 at 7:20pm tonight at traffic lights of Marion Rd and Anzac Hwy. Also pretty sure it was 13BT KE20 I just saw pull out of K-Mart onto Anzac Hwy. Ummmmmmmm.................... HOLY CRAP :hmm: ................. your car is.......... ummmm...... well........ put it this way................... I LIKE IT! :y:
  19. Yep, 12inch flappers are no probs to get from John, right through to 15inch. Yeh you may be right Ben, colour coded steelies might be the way to go on a non-white car........ I am intrigued and will await this development patiently. :y: Good luck sorting the idling Nick. Small issue in the overall picture. If you can't get it worked out just jam a big block in there. :hmm:
  20. Yep me too. Welcome to Club 11. :hmm: Spotted your old fanta 20 last night down near Henley Beach Surf Club. Good to see new owner getting around in it. Will be interested to see what this looks like with colour coded rims. I'd go walls not flappers, but only cos i was planning to put flappers on mine just so mine is slightly more different from all the others getting around :y:
