  1. So lately i've noticed that when I drive the car a little harder and then park it at work (I deliver pizza...) on the sloping carpark that a small amount of fluid comes from in front of the drivers side front wheel.. Now all the fluid levels seem okay, so I'm not sure what it is..
  2. Yeah champ definitely getting S2 tail lights, they should be here midweek Nah not a lot but I don't hoon around so I guess that's a big help. Yeah 2.5" catback system, and yeah has a rear muffler. If I put a high performance cat on, it'll definitely sound better but it may also bring the EPA into the equation. With the headlights, i've got a rejuvenation kit sitting there waiting for me to get stuck into, maybe during the week i'll have a serious crack. Love your ride man, it's a heap nicer to look at than mine! I'm interested in going a little lower, but nothing more than perhaps fe2 height. I still want clearance. Not a bad idea with the brake upgrade. I just replaced the rear rotors and pads and they feel smooth, the fronts are still pretty good and have SFA warping if any (don't notice it while braking gently or heavy, still brakes nice and firm). Update: Minor service today, did filters and such. Feels a bit nicer now and can breathe freely Looking in to a LED conversion in my dash. Got a quote of $380 from Greg at ASR in Sydney to come down and do it, pretty sure i'll take up the offer. Not sure what else I can do to her. Suggestions?
  3. Hey mate thanks for the tip off! She's certainly not neat nor tidy. Needs a rather hard cut and polish due to a horrible amount of surface scuffing all over the bonnet and guards, across the doors and on the bootlid. Will try to find a professional company to do it for me so i don't fudge the paint. If it was a Corolla i'd have a crack myself, but the VT is a bit too modern for me to f@$k with Considering Monaro headlights... Thoughts? I want to make this car aggressive, but not quite the stereotypical commodore. Last thing I want is to attract more cop attention than I already do. Might try to chase up an S pack kit for the car, front and rear lip and side skirts. Then look for a bootlid/spoiler combo.
  4. So because other than my first car I havn't had a lot of luck with Corollas, I thought i'd start a topic with the cheapest registered car i've purchased to date. Technically only paid $1300 including rego, roady and transfer fee,. Some basic info - S1 VT Acclaim sedan - Debadged (only the C O M M O D O R E badge and the Acclaim badge, to neaten the back end) - 2.5" Redback exhaust, sounds alright for a standard 6 - Pioneer HU, Alpine speakers, Jaycar sub - 17" VY SS wheels, original Holden, not the crap copies. - Fully optioned with power windows, traction control etc Plans (hopefully stay un-copworthy) - High flow catalytic converter, looking for a little more ballsy note without getting the po-po upset. - Series 2 tail lights (clear indicator) and front guard indicators. - Cut and polish (paint is shit) - LED dash conversion by ASR, they do crazy work to Commodores. - Fix rear window motors - Tidy interior and sound deaden doors. - Keep serviced (that's a real shock to any car I own). Alright, I'll throw up a couple piccies
  5. So pretty
  6. Feel like coming and getting it Ryan?
  7. If you're keen I can drop it to $350 for one day only, simply because Dad's on my back about it..
  8. Come have a look. Drivers side rear is f@$ked bad, passenger side is a real easy fix. Might be worth fixing (it was my plan all along and was still keen til the folks said that most likely living arrangements will be changing and you needa sell the project car)... Drivers side doors have rust, passenger side not so much, but the motor trans and diff are sweet, so are both sets of wheels and the interior isn't bad at all.
  9. Having to sell another car due to circumstance.... I was genuinely full-on with this project.. I spent quite some time on it in the short time it has been with me. Oh well, if anyone in the Melb area wants to buy a dirt cheap '55, pm me. Another thing grinding the gears of late is the old man.. Spat the dummy at my sister and I (she's 24, I'm 19) for not helping out enough. We BOTH pay $100 a week board, we BOTH do more housework than him and we BOTH try to keep the house peaceful.. Shits me no end.
  10. Unfortunate news.. Due to outside influences and life's ups and downs.. The car has to move on. I won't have anywhere to store it and for the short term (12 months or so) i'm not going to be in any position to continue any work to it.. So she's up for sale.. $400. Will come with three sets of wheels, primer, paint, putty, wire wheels, metal plate, new front and rear brake hoses and a freaking spotless interior. This is what happens when your folks split.. Pain in the bum, but I guess it doesn't matter now. If anyone in the Eastern suburbs of melbourne wants to come buy it, feel free to contact me on 0411177359. It has a vehicle permit so it can even be driven home (just let me reassemble the front end first). $400. Owes me triple.. Such is life, anyone?...
  11. UPDATE! Car is naked up front. Took off guards, beaver and front bumper. Wire brushed the surface rust in the guards and hit them with rust converter and sprayed with chassis black to keep the rust away, It's a little bumpy so going to spray putty it to smooth it out. Cleaned and wire brushed the frame under guards/around wheel arches then washed and sprayed with chassis black. Removed the headlights and horns and will give that section a sand and spray tomorrow. Going to chase up some ke30 bars because the other ones are in crap condition and it'll look a lot neater without that stupid metal section that gets used as a spacer on the 55's.. If there is anyone in the area that is bored/free, come help me pulling things off and fixing stuffs
  12. Another tip with the boot floor - Get some cardboard and scissors, some tape and a stanley knife. Make a template of the entire boot floor with cardboard cuts taped together. When it's at the desired shape, remove from boot and trace onto thicker sheeting (even 6mm masonite is plenty, keeps the weight down too). Cut out boot piece, then from that, trace out a trapdoor for the spare wheel. Hinge the trapdoor or simply make a subframe for it to sit against. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but it will give you a completely flat boot, and in the 92's, that's not the easiest to find . Car's looking fantastic mate!
  13. I'm trying my best.. When the weather improves Dad's going to give me some help grinding the rear quarter panels out and cleaning it all up so I can get somebody to weld new metal in place. He's a pro with a grinder, I'm okay with them but i'd much rather he do it because it'll be cleaner and if he f@$ks up, he can pay for whatever needs fixing Been using a dremel bit to tidy up surface rust around the car, just for tidiness sake. Next week I'm spending a full day going through all my tools and organising them. Everything is a shambles and if I want to do this car properly, I need the proper tools put in a place they can be used. Will be packing everything else up and throwing it out at the tip. Still on the hunt for doors and bonnet, much easier replacing them with rust free ones than attempting to fix these. Happy to drive a mismatch colored car around Had a crack at cleaning some more dirt out today, spent an hour with a thick brush cleaning the sections underneath the guards, think the car lost a lot of weight in the process. Any thoughts, ideas and/or suggestions are welcome. Anyone keen to have a look at the car and tell me it's a POS, please do!
  14. My mechanic charges $99, I had one done recently on another car and he's not changing his price unless he has to. I'm sorting all the rust out, I want a Corolla without any (yeah, should choose a different model car lol) but the mechanic says if it's not structural or flaking he'll pass it, simply told me to primer the surface rust and spray putty any grooves. I'm not going to get crazy with it but if he's happy, i'm happy.
  15. Unfortunately I have to go to one Tuesday night.. Not keen, but the four people I'm taking are chipping in for fuel, so an easy $50 my way. The only thing that Ground My Gears today was the goddamn rain. Halted all progress on Lola and then gave me hell at work..
  16. I wish people asked me what engine I'm running! Mate with a crazy datsun just says: "After we race, i'll show you". I'm not even sure what he's running, but it's got to be pretty good when he can compete with new commonwhore utes.
  17. 6.8??? Woah... I was happy to get 11. Shows you the difference between a tuned, looked after engine and one that felt like it had a BHG at times
  18. Done deal! If you see ke30/55 doors with no rust, just yell! So many people give the 4af engine a hard time about it being lackluster etc.. It's a strong motor and can resist just about anything, even with high kms.. My old one took a flogging day in day out and kept putting along. Any other plans in the near future for the 92?
  19. Crazy amounts of win.. Crazy. Oh and now you have a bigger dumpy tip, have a little play with the carby at idle. I did this after having a sports system put on bucket and noticed it would crackle and pop really nicely, like all carby motors should . I'd seen Nu Finish in the shops, but wasn't sure on the hype. Certain now That said, you're working with a super clean base to begin with. Not even the local bowls club nannas would have a 92 this nice!
  20. Plan of attack over next fortnight: - Attack passenger side of car rust repairs as these are a lot easier than drivers side, and a good way to practice my fiberglass skills - Wait for parts to arrive from eBay. Got everything needed for the brakes on order except the front rotors and rear wheel cylinders , yet to check exact bore size for the cyls. - Mend as much rust as possible to a state where it can be salvaged. Found some metal plate I can use for welding in - Locate rust free drivers side doors and a bonnet, switch trims over. ??? Proft? - Learn all about bog removal.. I don't mind people using bog to cover holes, but using bog on top of rusted metal just doesn't do it for me.. Going to keep removing panels and cleaning everything. If it's clean, it'll stay that way for the short term at least...
  21. Hence why I just don't care about it and instead of sorting the issue out with it I'm just ignoring it till it blows up, putting my focus into the '55 out back
  22. Things like that at the wreckers - Go in with a messy toolbox, throw them in at the bottom, pretend you couldn't find what you were after and walk out.. But seriously, if you want a tacho cluster for these badboys, don't pay more than about $60 including a warranty. Make sure it's the Corolla one not the Nova, less tacky If you have any other questions with this model car just ask. I had way too much fun tearing old bucket apart time after time
  23. Might just give him a bell. Also waiting on a quote from Sam_Q on here regarding the work. Went deep into the drivers rear guard. Whole thing is f@$ked. Passenger one is an easy clean up. Infact, everything drivers side looks ready to rust to pieces, everything passenger side is fine... Got the front guards off, cleaned out the 65543164kg of dirt and gunk and then the weather turned nasty before I got any further. Front guards look rust free, will be giving them a protective coating underneath when the sun decides to stay out. Damn I wish I had a solid garage to work in...
  24. P.S. Convinced Dad to let me keep it, required an increase in board per week but it's a small price to pay Thinking about taking the front qtr panels off and cleaning out from underneath them today. Must be putrid under there! Going to keep hacking at the rust and now that I've rust-dissolved it, time to rust convert and start looking into ways of patching up the holes.. Is fibreglassing not too difficult? Was thinking of prep-washing all the areas needing repairs, then making up the resin and fibreglass matting to see how good a shape I could get. For anyone interested in some easy cashmoney, I'd be willing to pay for cut & shut repairs I even have sheetmetal here ready to go. Oh and if anyone wants some standard ke55 wheels, they're all yours if you come get them. I have too much shit and needa move some of it along
  25. Ordering brake hoses and rear wheel cylinders next week. Might just go through eBay, cheapest option. If anybody has front '55 rotors that are roadworthy, shoot me a pm with a price! EDIT: Just brought the hoses from eBay :) Tomorrow i'm going to go buy a trolley jack to make lifting the car easier, along with some proper rubber wheel chocks. Benefit of having the car on solid hard dirt is that i can mount the wheel chocks to the ground with long old tent pegs to make them secure :)
