Well when the car is at operating temperature, I'll drive it from point A to B, get back in it after 30 seconds of it being off, go to start, turn the key, no power to anything. Take key out, lock and unlock car, then it decides to fire up, idle hunts for a split second and she's back to normal.

Having no luck with cars.. Dad's forcing me to sell the project car I JUST FREAKING BROUGHT.. So angry because i'm losing more money... The daily Commonwhore is running true to it's name, like a slut. When it's been driven on constant short trips with no time to cool down you basically overheat the electrical system and it all stops. Only way to get it to start is to lock and unlock the car again.. Oh well, plus side is that I feel less sick now.

Can buy a 55 in the area for a few hundred less with a permit ;)
-
Take the 55 off my hands for 450 cash right now if you want her. Comes with two sets of wheels, ill make it three by throwing in a set of FWD wheels from my old '92. Rust is easy to fix if you can weld, engine is pretty neat for an older car, interior is super clean. Really just needs brakes, rust done, good wash and a RWC :)
-
Body wise it's an easy fix up. Issue is with buying it from the wrecking yard that you have no knowledge of what else it might need.. Brakes, suspension, engine work etc.

The one at the wreckers in Kilsyth? It looked real clean for a 70!

S'all good. Saw the boss and he fixed it up on the spot

Alright! Scoured eBay, decided that wheel cylinders will cost me about $33 posted for the pair, front hoses about $65 and ill try find some good used rotors and get them machined. May pay someone to do it all though...
-
So sent her in for pads and shoes.. Get a call, "oh so your rotors are undersized, front hoses are f'd and rear wheel cylinders are leaking. It's okay we can fix it" "alright how much?" "$600" "..." So uhh crap...... What do I do???

Realizing you didn't get paid two weeks in a row...

Winning a competition with the boss for some extra cash. Caught him by surprise that even with tonsilitis I can still work at a crazy pace and out-do him. Fair to say he was happy to hand over the coin for an ass-whoopin'

Have to agree with you there Phillbey. Edgar Allen Poe's stuff is certainly 'out there' for lack of a better phrase.

Well that bloke called me today and put things on the backburner because he just got some situation altering news, which is cool. Found more rust, drainage holes on drivers side doors have rusted through, passenger ones are sweet Should be a straightforward fix up, enough 'metal' left to have a crack at rust converting and tidying up. Oh, managed to scrape about 3kg of dirt fron the front guards today.. didn't know they filled up so bad! Fitted a 550cca battery today, so much better than having to jumpstart it every time! Next purchase is a pressure washer. Decided i'm going to take panels off and make sure they are clean and completely rust free. Going to bog up the rear guards i've decided, they're not too bad and I should get away with it if I do it right. Dad's keen on showing me how to use his angle grinder so stay tuned folks, I could either end up missing a finger or with well cut-out rust

I'm undecided on the bars, kinda like this chrome. Tail lights are disgusting.. Anything TE I can go? Previous elderly couple got rid of them when they handed in the plates, don't ask me why.. Yep, Dad's mate said for a slab it's done. Waiting on a call from him tomorrow about it. If I have some time during the day i'll keep attacking the rust and cutting away at it. Almost never ends S'all good, in the glovebox was the LeMans Toyota booklet with all the sales stuff for the vehicle . Pumped for Friday, brakes will be done so car will be much safer to drive. Front pads are so thin that I may as well be braking with my feet against the road. Quick question.. In terms of a roadworthy (has to go through initial rego) does surface rust give them the right to fail me?

You're a perfectionist and a machine, so much inspiration to do things the right way!

Weather today has been stupid so all that got done was picking up the steel for fixing the speedholes.

I have the tendancy to buy too many cars with big plans and don't do much to them... However, making sure Lola gets looked after
-
I'm leaning towards doing simple things to this for now, cam carb and extractors are top of the list, then a custom intake to help suck some fresh air into the carb

That's an idea. Build a monster 5k. Hmm yes I could do that. Buy one in good nick, drop $800 into it for a lot of goodies plus tuning time and slot it in in an afternoon. Even for now, would a 3k head do much for poke around town?

Deleted the rear Corolla badge today, just need to clean it up and you wont even notice it was even there in the first place. Will be doing a wreckers run sometime this week to source a new drivers seat, this one has NO spring left in it.

Sold the '30 last week to a bloke who was chasing parts for his '35, It was set up with basically a ke70 drivetrain. Not to worry, will be chatting to Ryan (SLO-030) about freighting me some custom extractors in the coming months. Nah, happy to keep it auto. Actually going to hold onto this project, so auto will be the only way it survives. If I want a manual one, i'll buy one that was factory manual, saves all the bs with converting because I'm just too slack to change a pedalbox Ideas are already circulating around my head of putting a 186 Holden engine in her, all it'd need would be custom mounts, bellhousing and bigger brakes. Will just be working the 4k for now. Want that louvre? Just took it off, managed to keep all the mounting clips in tact too so it can go to a better home. It's funny, you buy a Corolla and leave it on the street for two days and already had a few positive comments about it
