  1. Question: If I have, say, a spare alternator from an ae92, would it's internals do basically the same thing? (not really looking for much upgrade, simply to make an alternator that works). Thanks

Had a look at the calipers this morning.. Fairly shagged, going to grab the ones from a '55 and bolt them on without too much hassle Pulling the alternator tomorrow to have a look at what is fooking up.. Might do what Evan G has done with the 80amp alty conversion ;) Going to custom fab up the interior panels for the rear quarters and vinyl wrap them, as well as some dash pieces :) Today consisted of figuring out some bits and pieces and FINALLY getting an idea on what I will attack ;) Having the car sitting how it is, so tempting to tear it down completely and respray it.. If only funds/parents approved.. Comments/advice all welcome! Edit: Going to re-do the electrical side of things first, Interior second and mechanical third, with anything else left out at the end (usual finishing touches etc). Anyone got a front left brake caliper for a ke30 they wanna sell? :)
  3. Getting myself in a huff cause I'm just not sure what direction to go with the project car.
  4. Bucket has been having hissy fits all week due to temperature... Went f@$k it and took it to my old work (a radiator shop in Croydon) and got them to give the engine the once over. 10, yes, 10 COMPLETE FLUSHES later they cleaned it out good enough to keep coolant at a nice green consistency :) Now, where did I leave my pot of money?

Was just the battery not charging due to the alternator. No biggeh :) Next port of call will be bleeding the brakes tomorrow (if time permits). All the brake hoses look good  so very very pleased I don't have to change them. Went through all the spares that came with the car today and sorted out the good, the bad, the ugly and the 'why the hell do I need a second one of these?'. So, selling a blue ke30/55 bootlid if anyone is interested! Good condition, pretty straight. Also selling ke55 dash fascia ;) Freaking weird wiring.. Tried my two different indicator stalks today.. One has a good indicator for one side, no indicator for the other side and no hazards. The other has nothing.. Will HAPPILY trade the two effed ones plus any other parts I don't need for one that works! Came up with an idea.. Going to highlight the car in black. So, black bailey channels, black taillight surrounds and other little bits and pieces will be blacked out, as well as some interior pieces :)

Edit: Gets the motor JUST cranking then stops.. Bastard of a thing.. Think tomorrow ill attack the brakes and just tinker with shit rather than try to sort engine issues out.. maybe raise the car and see what the hap is down-under :)

Not starting for some reason... Tried two different batteries, both wouldn't get it going. Checked the dizzy, seemed dry and clean, leads look okay etc..
  8. Not enough hours in the day.. Swore I got nothing done to the car today, yet I was out there for several hours? Also.. Locating a Ke30 dashpad that isn't fuucked..

Ill give the scotch brite a crack, then lube up the rubbers for a few days and then re-install them and see how they look. Don't like it when things aren't right, want this car to come together properly, rather than slapped together.

On a side note - Any way to remove paint from a rubber seal easily? The previous owner had a shithouse aim!

The aim isn't necessarily shine, more to make rubber look more supple and rejuvenated, although that's an awesome idea :)

Yar! That be the one! I'm contemplating just fabbing something up for now for the fun of it and see how it looks out of some 3mm mdf. Tomorrow's big job (when I find the time) is to sort out the indicator BS and if I'm making good progress, bleed the front brakes for now until I can be bothered raising the rear and bleeding the rear brakes too (only thing stopping me taking it for a RWC, cause I'll crash and burn on the way there). Forgot how much fun a car with a clutch is :) Also need to pressure wash the engine bay AND the suspension gear to make it all sexy, then lube all the rubbers up to hopefully get a few borderline ones to pass the roady with ease. Ideas? Suggestions? Gunna grab some paint in the next week or so and fix as many of the oversprayed areas of the car where the previous owner just got too into spraying and not enough into covering parts..

Dunno about the emblem cause mine is hacked up and fuucked, last owner must've gone to town on it for a cd player or something? ohwells.. Yeah, I figured that just before.. Still need a dash :(

Cheers mate, will let you know when I find out doctors appointment times etc :) Nah, car came with one of those as a spare, I'm after the early dash, two piece black one, mainly the piece with the cig lighter :)
  15. CLEAN! Such a good pick-up mate! Whatever you do with it, it'll turn out wicked with such a good base to begin with :) Can't wait to steal some ideas off you.. Uhh.. Borrow them ;) haha Good luck to you!

So, it's either a fuse, a flasher or a relay for the issue with the lack of hazards AND indicators? Think indicators will be a flasher unit, as they just stay on, but have a spare stalk to test out the hazards :) The sooner I sort out wiring the better! Hate it... Can't wait to get the interior sorted and begin on the rest of the roadworthy gear ;)

Switched the steering wheel today to a 3-spoke wheel (factory fitted from later models), looks the goods :) Went and bought a brake bleeding kit in preparation for the day I get around to it How do I fix my indicators? They stay on rather than flashing, yet the parkers work fine? Installed the driver door rubber the previous owner supplied with the car. Much nicer, but I know for sure now that BOTH front doors have sagging issues.. Anyone here need a ke55 dash fascia? I have a perfect one I'm willing to trade for an early ke30 dash fascia (two-piece) :) Also on the lookout for the plastic for the rear pillars, want to get the interior and dash etc sorted before getting mechanical with the car. Engine runs well, needs a tune though. Will post up pics tomorrow :)
  18. Cheers bud, let me know when it suits you (perhaps the weekend?) and i'll come get it

  19. I love your work! Attention to detail is so impressive. Come fix the spare wheel well on Bucket? ;)
  20. Saturday saw the addition of a second Corolla to the Harvey household, in that of a Purple Ke30 two door sedan! Comes with NO RUST (not even any under the spare wheel). 4k instead of the stock 3k. (HUGE power increase..) Jellybean mags with locknuts and two good tires, only the fronts need replacing. Spares: Bootlid (nothing wrong with current one?) Instrument cluster Four spare stockies with stuffed tires. Dash Fascia Original AM radio Driver door rubber Tailights Front indicator lenses Indicator relay Interior bits and pieces Chrome trims HEAPS MORE! Basically the boot is full and so is the interior with the spares it's come with. Plans? - Sand the ONLY surface rust on the paint and primer and respray it with a rattle can, simply for rust protection. - Bleed the brakes and replace the brake hoses (there is zero fluid in the brakes..) - Replace front tires - Replace indicator relay - Find new caps for brake and clutch master cylinder - Replace instrument cluster fascia and instrument cluster (much nicer one that hasn't been chopped comes with it). - Install (but not wire up) AM radio - Adjust passenger door as it sags slightly. - Raise car and check bushes/rubbers - Replace dash pad -Send for a RWC and see what else needs doing. Long term plans? - Respray in original colour. - Detail the crap out of everything - Whitewalls - Enjoy Just a few pics for now, will get more tomorrow when I get to working on it :D
  21. Absolutely :) Yeah, the 30 has serious potential. Bucket will remain on daily duties, the 30 (named Sophia) will endure a partial tear-down and rebuild (with a lot of learning to do). Comes with a reasonably fresh 4k and no rust :) Such a good base. Only thing is.. It's been sitting for a LONG time, so most likely all the bushes/rubbers are perished, so i'll have to strip the undercarriage and replace them one by one. More fun (and cheaper) to mod a 4k than a 4afc  Will make a rides thread for it as soon as it's picked up :) Pictures can be viewed here http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/50864-ke30-2door-sedan-for-sale/
  22. Ke55 sedan at pick-a-part Kilsyth. Kinda took some of the chrome trims :) Will be going back to harvest any other goodies I find I need in the next week or so :laff:
  23. Commodore battery installed, makes running a little nicer. Cleaned spark plugs, were actually in good condition so it just took a quick wipe to make them like new again. Hanging out for Saturday to add to the corolla family. Off to the wreckers today to rape a ke55 of some goodies :) Edit: Grabbed ALL the chrome pieces I needed from the ONLY ke3x/5x at pick-a-part today :laff: All for $25. STOKED!
  24. You're too far away to worry :laff: Heck, I'm only 19
  25. Can't deny it :laff: Older cars, younger boys, candy.. You do the sums :P
