Pulled the door trim off.. Its the cylinder..
-
Be nice to be able to open the door for the missus, and it's a piece of mind thing for me :)
-
Ahk i'll have a squiz tomorrow, a few other bits and pieces I want to inspect while the trim is off, so may as well. Thanks Trev

Soo.. When I purchased the car (AE92), only the drivers door opened with the key.. The key goes in and turns inside the passenger lock, but doesn't do anything.. If i rip it off, could it be something simple to play with at home or not worth fixing? Suggestions? I'm not good with this kind of thing and decided i'd ask here, seeing as you guys have probably pulled these cars apart a lot more than I have. Cheers :)

Ive seen pics of AE92's without them, and they look alright. Mind you, I have a white car and base spec dark front bumpers.. So not entirely sure how it'll look, but i'm considering doing this in the next little while when I recover from glandular fever. Maybe it will improve the look, maybe not.

Its all to do with your own physical size and competency, so you cannot compare unless you are of similar weight/height/build.

WGMG: Hmm.. Where the HELL do I begin? Having an ex f@$k with your mind something shocking, making you feel like you're ruining your current relationship.. I'm over her, she just likes causing havoc.. Ugh.. Depressing me and I fear that it's going to wreck my current relationship to a truly beautiful person...

ALSO! I've got this problem.. I went to take the roof racks off (funnily enough, they are ROLA roof racks) to find out the gutters aren't holding the black plastic strip on anymore.. Unfortunately, I have to leave the roof racks on for it to stay there.. Not sure what to do? Might have a look tomorrow, think the former owner has damaged the rails..

Cheers Bamboo, gave it a shot and it seems to have done the trick. Running pretty nicely. Contemplating replacing the gearbox with an over-drive variant. Believe it all bolts up the same, the extra gear would be nice on the freeway. Toying with the idea of sprucing up the cam cover.. May pinch one from the wreckers and have a go polishing/spraying it, just to add some flavour to the bay. Also looking at respraying other engine components, and may spend a full day in the engine bay with a parts cleaning brush and de-greaser to scrub EVERYTHING. Got a feeling the current cam cover has a slight leak. Also going to sand back, prime, repaint and clear coat all the flakey paint/specs of rust hanging around. Being a beach car for a few years has taken its toll.. Leads me to ask. Recommended paint brands? Aussie export is cheap stuff and all, but the primer is what I want in a good quality. Found that out the hard way.. Driving down Swansea Rd, mate in the passenger seat (drunk at the time) was winding the window down and it dropped.. We left it there for the night.. Next day, pulled the door trim off to discover the rail that holds the window to the winder mechanism was rusted through and snapped in half, letting the window go. 20 minutes of fiddling at the wreckers and a gold coin donation and it was fixed. Going to pull the other trims off tomorrow afternoon and inspect the doors to check for anything similar going on and catch it before I get caught short.

Mates with six cylinder and eight cylinder cars saying that my AE92 is 'f@$king slow and a POS'. YET.. When we go for a cruise around the backroads through Lysterfield, Emerald, Seville, Warburton etc.. Not ONE can keep up with me and I am not even pushing it. :rolls: But does it shut them up? Not once we are back on main suburban roads and they are tearing it up while I stick to the speed limit.. Half of them wonder why they lose their licenses... Sorry boys, but your VR Commodore Ute on 19's with a secondhand ecotec will NOT keep up with me through windy roads. :P On a completely unrelated topic. Something that's been bugging me is the reluctant nature of a friend to get the courage up to ask his girlfriend to marry him. He wants to so much, she does too, but something keeps stopping him and I just wish he'd hurry up about it. They are perfect together and it would be good to see it happen. Maybe I need to give him a gentle push

What Corolla Would You Rather Own
Kid-Ae replied to Tazrolla's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
I figure that both have their own qualities. As much as I HATE the auto in my AE, I love it's compact exterior and the funny looks I get with the exhaust screaming as I plant it coming out of the street (mind you, very slowly..) KE's are better for playing with AE's are better for simply driving around -
I'll wet rub you :bash: Ry, pics? :rolls:

You can't miss more than 2 tutes from each subject, and my education course requires hands-on prac that i've missed way too much of.

Glandular Fever.. Bad enough that being a viral disease, antibiotics won't touch it, but to make it worse, five days in hospital with the f@$kwits not realizing to use steroidal drugs to at least allow me to eat, drink and swallow my own spit without crying in pain. I was so dehydrated, within 12 hours they ran 10L of saline through my system and my urine was still concentrated.. (little graphic, but explains a bit) But alas, there is more. Thanks to this glandular fever, I've failed uni on attendance, and I spoke to them and it still stands.. So, this means my centrelink payments stop (Youth Allowance) and my ability to drive has gone, being so lethargic. I can't walk from the bedroom to the loungeroom without almost collapsing.. Great fun.

I believe I'll go buy some tonight then! Thanks a lot mate :blinks:

Hmm.. I was thinking maybe use my heat gun? Or would that do too much to the paint?
-
Right.. So how do I go about removing the outer black strip on the doors? Is it just held in place with some form of glue-substance or is there more to it? Mind you, it's for a 1989 AE92 CS Corolla, I HATE the look of the black along the side and would LOVE to keep it looking clean and crisp. Any help is appreciated, thanks guys!

Right.. Bucket is about due for a little time spent on her.. Not necessarily money, don't actually have any.. Suggestions as to what I could do? I've pressure washed engine bay, replaced air, fuel and oil filters, tensioned the belts, but still cannot seem to get the carby to run nicely.. It feels at times like it has nothing, then all of a sudden it decides to go..

Is it not obvious? Blood Blister and Sister rhyme. Must admit, some sisters are more like a boil than a blood blister.. Back on topic: Sounds like a wicked neat car :D

But how do they shit you? What people don't understand is that many Muslim women CHOOSE to wear it, to uphold their religion. I don't see anything wrong with them. Perhaps they don't like Aussies drinking VB.. It will happen whether they like it or not, so why can't we just leave them be to do their own thing? Sorry, just my 2c.

Scary thing is mate, I wasn't doing ANYTHING wrong. I think he was psychotic or something.. I looked in his direction when we were at the lights, but I kept my face expressionless, then he went off the rails at me.. If I see that car around again, I know to steer well clear..

Road rage. Got scared something shocking.. Stupid idiot tailgating me, then chasing me down the backstreets until I swung around and pulled into the local copshop... Edit: Full story. I was heading towards a set of lights, Toyota Crown 10 car lengths ahead in the right lane (I was in the left) driving stupidly (swerving, flashing headlights at random etc) We pull up at the lights, I look across, the guy looks at me, starts abusing me and giving me the finger. I take the left hand turn, he takes it too, FROM THE RIGHT LANE! and chases me around for a little while until I planted it the back way to the police station. Stopped in the carpark, turned the car off, sat there and watched him drive passed and stare at me... To that wanker, I give you a single finger salute..
