I had a theory that the bracket on the gearbox where the cables are secured before the selector arms might have had something to do with it(altering throw distance perhaps?), but from looking at the one on the C40, they're exactly the same. Had a fiddle with the cables off, the selector arm doesn't seem to want to move fully into the position for 1st/2nd where the cable would be pushing it. Even with a gentle tap with a wooden block/hammer. So I'm guessing buggered gearbox. :hmm:

As in, enough travel to disenage the clutch fully? I can press the clutch in, select whatever forward gear it happens to be & let the clutch out as per normal. Or is this something I need to play with at the master cylinder? Do you think a fluid bleed will help? Couldn't hurt I guess... :hmm:

Firstly, yes I've done a search & haven't been able to find anything to help me, so I'm turning it over to you all for help. :) I just pulled the C40 4 speed manual out of my AE80 & replaced it with a C50/52 5 speed (not 100% sure which) & I am having issues with selecting gears. The clutch engages & disengages fine in the gears I can select, I don't think it would require bleeding as I didn't disconnect the line during the process? The gearshifter will not move across to the left (looking down at the gearshift H-pattern) enough to engage 1st or 2nd with that shift cable connected, nor will it engage reverse when all the way to the right & pulled back. When the cable's disconnected the shifter does have the full range of movement though. The cable will physically not move enough to allow it, so I swapped the cables over to a set from a Twin Cam, same problem. I thought it may be the gearshift itself & swapped over to a Twin Cam item, still the same problem. So from what I can tell, 3rd & 4th on the gearshift position is 1st & 2nd in the gearbox, while 5th & reverse on the gearshift position is 3rd & 4th in the gearbox. Could I have bent a selector arm (where the cables connect to on the gearbox) somehow? Have I had something in the wrong postion when hooking the cables up? They can only be hooked up one way at the gearshifter & they don't cross over at any point, so are in correctly. Or could the gearbox be kaput? :( Any help would be greatly appreciated! :yes:

Well, what a $h1t weekend this has been! Blue Things clutch gave up the ghost Friday afternoon, couldn't get one in until Saturday morning so proceeded to drop the gearbox Friday evening...& some of Saturday morning due to several bolts having to be convinced to to come off. By 'convinced', I mean hacksawed & belted with a hammer & chisel. A couple of things I did learn from doing this are: - You don't have to disconnect your brake lines, just hang the calipers off the springs with a bit of wire. - You don't have to disconnect your clutch release line, just push out of the way & ziptie it there. - Ditto for the coolant lines, just unbolt the thermostat housing from the gearbox, there's enough play in it to get the 'box off & on. While I've got the 'box off, I might as well put the 5 speed I have laying around in, so new clutch in & bench press the gearbox back on. Put everything back on & do up, jump in & discover that something's not right with the gear shifter. Doesn't want to go full throw to either the left or the right, meaning I can only engage 3rd & 4th gears (I think). So I swapped Blue Things cables with some spare Twin Cam ones I have, no difference. Swap gearlevers, no difference, contemplated puling the whole gearshift assembly from Sudi & bolting it in, but I've been at this too damn long, I've been dripping sweat for the last 6 hours & I'm f**king over it!!! If anyone has any idea as to why my gearshift is not functioning correctly, please mention it? The only idea I have left is the gearbox is from an AE9x & the shifting mechanism is slightly different? I don't know, tired, sore & can't think straight... :( Due to all this I missed out on going on a planned road trip to Gippsland & because of the f**king stuck bolts, missed a mates birthday shindig Saturday night as I was slaving away on this f**king thing & because of the gearshift, missed the AOMC Classic Japan Day. Pissed off!

I call BS on this one, it doesn't work that way. Agreed that the Australian Government could do more to help it's people, especially the ones who have been royally screwed over in life. At the sametime, some of these Australians need to realise that they are not owed a free ride through life, that they are responsible for their lives, not necessarily the government.

$80k for a wedding reception alone? Fark...... :o I'm with your mate on this one, a nice simple ceremony with the people that matter. Why blow a heap of money on the actual wedding when that money could be put to better use, like a house deposit, a helluva honeymoon or anything your new life together requies a heap of money for. Which seems to be everything! :yes:

I have had the good fortune to have been to Japan, sadly as a 14yr old student on exchange rather than as an adult running wild. :( So jealous of you right now... :P I'll watch it while I'm eating dinner (housemate has it on), if it's remotely interesting I'll stick around to watch the end of the episode but the majority of the time I find myself getting up & walking out. I get what anime is, I just don't understand the fascination people have with it. Yes I watched cartoons as a kid, but they were never as messed up as some anime can be! :lol: Housemate's now watching 'Aika' or something like that, ships, planes & women who get stripped naked when transforming into a deity or some $h1t. Also blatant panty shots everywhere, even on the under 18 characters! :blinks: To me that's not weird, that's a pedophiles cartoon wet dream...each to their own I guess. Even Dragonball Z - Abridged (?) only held my attention for about 30mins, I did try to be interested but yeah...I just don't get it.

From a little interwebs searching & chatting with the seller, (I think) it's an E58 factory LSD gearbox from a 4AGZE. Has been fitted with a mechanical LSD, this should be interesting! Having seen the pricetags of LSD's alone...:blinks:...bloody stoked to score this. :greenbounce:

Was at the pub with some mates to watch a soccer match, had had one sip of my beer only. :( Standing in line for food when I felt lightheaded, dizzy & sick, next thing I remember I'm opening my eyes laying flat on my back. From what a witness told me I'd dropped to my knees first, then faceplanted the ground. Probably best I did as the only damage was a small scar on my chin & a concussion. Went through loads of scans/tests etc as my doctor originally thought I might've had epilepsy (3rd strike with this happening), turned out I'd just been too active, eaten too little, slept too little (over a period of time) & my body was basically hitting the 'reset' button. Backed off the throttle, ate more, rested more & no more blackouts! :no2: Two different events those photos, but yeah it was one helluva wedding! The top hat was gold with the ladies when we went out afterwards! :wink: P.S - Love the XXXX costume! :lolcry:

All decked out for my sisters wedding, am normally in steelcaps & workpants so it was a nice change. :) For a little less class, here's one of me taken shortly after I regained conciousness after blacking out & meeting the floor tiles with my chin. Paramedics were not impressed.
