I'm a painter and i have to sand nearly everyday, Been doing it for just on 11 years now. The finished product does come down to how much effort you put in on the prep. With seeing if you have any misses, get a big 500w halogen flood light (you can buy them from the hardware store for about 15-20 bucks) Get it as close as you can to the body of the car and shine it down the side of the pannels. That way it will show you if there are anything you still need to sand (or fill)

Wish i could have bought your engine for $550, damm that's cheap! :) I might see if i can hunt down some extractors on rolla club. :P I would fit the exhuast system next week on the rolla but my ford badly needs a full service and new disks so i have to do that before it falls apart. :D I'll see how my budget goes.. I might be able to fit the exhuast on the rolla and do the service on the ford next week. Thats if i'm not working otherwise it will all have to be put on hold.

Yeah i've been told by a few other people to get a 2". I just don't want to loose any compresion or it sounding poxy and loud. I'm 25, owned 9 cars and never had a exhaust. lol

What is it that has to be engineered on your new car? You bought a 2004 toyota avolon didn't you?

Looks like you got your work cut out for you on this car, it's good to see so much motivation going into her and i think it's great that your dad is helping you with it. I reccon the spare #2 would be cool. I''m a fan of deep dish rims on old cars. Just an idea about you dash... Fill up all the cracks on top with body filler then buy some leather or vinyl and glue it on. That would be a cheap fix.. Might look alright. Another idea it make a new top peice out of Mdf though i think that would be very tricky and a lot of stuffing around. Just thought of those ideas when i was writing this post.

Exhaust question: I want to get a exhaust system fitted soon coz now i got the tacho and my car being a 5 speed it needs an exhaust. What should i get? a 2" with a hotdog and one muffeler? I don't have any extractors but would this be good or should i go 1-3/4"? I want more power and don't want to loose any compresion.

Sounds like a good bargin with a worked motor...good one. Is yours a 4ac aswel?

He hasnt got the strips on with his old roof lining.

It was in good condition when i got the car but i stuffed it when i pulled the dash apart to paint it. I didn't know how to take it off, I indid 5 screws and i thought it would clip off but instead i snapped everything inside. I used liquid nails to glue it all back together

Thats looking really good, shame about two peice carpet but hey, what can you do... :( Roof lining is great. Are you putting the side strips on? the bits around the top edge of the roof lining ends on or is it staying like that?, it looks good the way it is. I like how the lining goes down the b pillars a bit. :P I love how this beast is coming up man, two thumbs up! :D :)

Sorry man, i miss read your post. Lol, I didn't know you didn't have the carpet in yet. The car's looking sweet as! I read one of your post's ages ago (6months) and you said "People ask me why I put all this time, effort and money into a corolla and you said There are enough done up Fords, Holdens and Skylines on the road so why the hell not! I think thats a great answer and i admit I used that line on some people who ask me about my corolla. I was saving to go to europe this year but my plans fell through so I put the money onto my rolla. Why the hell not!! ay? :(

when i was at pick a part this arvo i wanted to see if the front grill from an AE82 1987 model could fit on mine but unfortunatly it wont. Its about 5mm too wide :(

It already had 8mm leads in it when i bought it. I havent changed the spark plugs yet or the fuel filter. All i have done to the engine is oil change, oil filter and air filter That pic of the head unit freezing up always happened when i put the car in reverse. It was because there was no signal but since the camera it has never done it again. It does have a warranty. If it has trouble reading cds again i'll send it back.

I will be putting in grey carpet but how is the quality? Does it fit ok? Is the join in the carpet very obvious where it overlaps on the side of the front seats?

I saw on someone else's thread you were talking about Auto carpet. I want to get new carpet too. It just so happens that i only live about 20 mins away from that auto carpet shop. Can you post up a pic of your new carpet?

Yeah the head unit is running good. Its a bit dodgy sometimes but it beats paying over $2000 I had a lot of problems when i didn't have the reverse camera in. It freezed up and did weird shit. It's running pretty good now, Just on the weekend it wouldn't play cds but when i turned the car off and back on it works again.

Yeah, got any sugestions, I'll do it.. (just not a engine conversion)
