So it sounded different to all the other shitbox Lancers and Hyundai's getting around with cannons? More 4k-like?

Well I'm not really after volume or more power, just a good tone to go slow with! I would maybe replace the end muffler one day, but until then I wanna try this. Any idea what an early racecar sounds like? lol (new to the revhead industry)

Hi guys, Just a stupid topic for you I was talking to this guy driving a Capri the other day about his exhaust and it sounded sweet. He told me he had removed the centre muffler. I assume this is the resonator so I was thinking about removing mine in my KE55. I'd rather people not tell me to go buy a full exhaust system because I haven't got the time, nor money and Mum won't let me because she believes I'll make too much power and "prang", being a P-plater and all. I understand that it might be a bit loud and such, so I'm going to put some flanges on it to make it interchangable with some straight-through pipe - just in case. I'm planning it for the school holidays so my question is: Has anyone done this or have any suggestions? Thanks fellas :bash:

Ok, so today I attempted to tighten the wheel nuts because the wheels are loose as. Has anyone done this? How tight does the nut have to be? It seems if I just tighten until it contacts, then turning it about 1/64th either way has an effect on the bearings and they will bind. Any suggestions?

Ok will do. The noises are only really under heavy load. They don't really annoy me, I just want to know nothing's going to snap on me. I've noticed I have a continuous squeeking as well. That's annoying, and is probably going to wear something out. Do I need to lubricate the front wheel bearings while I'm at it?

Not take them off, rather disconnect the wires to see what happened? What kind of copper is going to check emissions controls? Better follow good advice then Thanks mate!

Hi guys. When I corner in my 79' KE55 coupe, I can sometimes hear a clunking noise. Usually when I take a left-hand corner. Also, sometimes squeeks when taking a right. Do I need to tighten or modify anything? That's about it Thanks guys

I got my car one year ago and it was in a shit state. Before I flushed the radiator and renewed the thermostat thingo it was on 1/4 but now it's on 3/4 Wtf?

Well I know nothing of cams or anything like that, because mines stock 4k, I always do them hot, thats what the manual says. Nice car by the way. :locked:

Yeah, got the same problem with the 4k and stock Aisan carbie. I have decreased the float level once, but how far down can it go? any answers are appreciated. I get around 100km out of 50 bucks these days. I don't know if thats any good, it's about $1.30/L in Newcastle at the moment, sounds shit though. Worked 3 1/2 hours to travel to school and back for a week. That's bullshit. Also, how can putting a Weber on increase fuel economy?

Here are some: I have absolutely no idea what that upper capacitor type thingo does, It's doesn't seem to do anything but if anyone has any idea could they tell me, trying to get me fuel economy better so yeah... End of cable was underneath the coil one day when I took it all apart.

Penrite HPR30 all the way! HPR 30 is actually 20W60. They recommend it for older engines, expensive for a young bloke like me though. :locked:

Yep, just thought I'd put my two-bob in. A manual is the best thing you can have for this kind of thing. This is a simple adjustment on a 4K engine. The Gregory workshop manual is the one I use, I have no idea where to get it though so good luck to you sir. Even though it's probably already been covered in other topics, (I haven't looked yet), always rely on your feel between the tappets. Sound advice, considering I havent yet completely stopped that irritating ticking noise. :locked:

I suppose you got lucky then! Went to the wreckers today but couldn't find anything that was suitable. Just dismantled and dropped float level down on original, my power has been cut, thus I must be using less fuel? Sick of getting shocking fuel economy! 25 litres/100km!

What changes do you have to make to a carbie for a 1.6l to run on a 1.3? Idle mixture? Float lvl? Or does it just give it more power and flood when you put your foot down? Can I just get another one of those plates and whack it on the top and have the tappet connection free or is there more involved?

Everytime I switch on the headlights in my 1979 KE55, the gauges for fuel and temperature drop to zero. I wouldn't know the first place to start when trying to fix this because there is a little issue: it's not consistent-it dosen't always happen. As I said, i've got no idea. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how do i fix it?

Hey, Does anyone know what a good replacement would be for a KE55 carbie? Mine pisses in fuel from the high speed jet all the time, so I decided I'd have a fresh start with a new one. The can't cost that much surely. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
