  1. I wouldnt be too jealous that Stout ute looks pretty schmick too! Currently preparing the roof for a re-paint and sorting out where to source Crown parts. don't need too many bits, a new tailgate would be nice but mines saveable with a lot of work. Those Crowns on gumtree were different models.
  2. This got started after seeing a Crown ute wanted when checking the wanted to buy section a few weeks ago. I was on Gumtree browsing and typed in "toyota Crown Ute" and 1 came up in all of Oz. It was in Inverell NSW and I was in Caloundra QLD so after a few phone calls and Douggy agreeing on a road trip off we went in a borrowed Landcruiser with trailer. Since the ute was still regoed in NSW I drove from Inverell to Glen Innes then Douggy drove north and just kept going, stopping at Warwick for food n sleep. We got back here early on the Sunday and then got to check out the ute a bit. Being NSW regoed meant it had been sort of inspected every year but it certainly wasnt in roadworthy condition! Also it was originally white and was now black so it was time for a few decisions. I decided to re-do it the original white and fiddle with RWC items to hopefully get it RWC and then club regoed late January. It needs a lot of bodywork and the interior re-doing but I'll fiddle with these bits along the way but at least it can be driven once its registered. So the project begins!
  3. I think A1 was the wrecker that had the fire!! Nizzpro want $1950, any other leads on this??
  4. More info on A1 please Trev.
  5. Thanks I'll chase them up. Want to convert my convertible to manual, losing too many killerwasps with the Auto.
  6. Gday I was told recently that a shop exists in Brissy that does Silvia conversions drive-in drive-out for $1500. Can anyone fill me in on whether this is true or just a myth??
  7. I part out KE30/55/70s and have 6 of these master cylinders here that I keep wet with brake fluid so they don't dry out. Can post them anywhere. Andy PM or 0411 327460.
  8. Got the above van for sale. Has reco motor (petrol) with 40,000 K on it, also reco trans with 90,000 K plus Reco brakes, cooling system and cold Air Con. Its a 1997 LWB. Van drives well but has been defected for rust around the roof and Headlight no go etc. Has had a lot of $$ spent on it but the body needs work.. Would be a spare parts goldmine for someone with an Econovan or would be a cheap van if it was repaired and put back on the road. Asking $985 complete as is . Rego has been cashed in. Best to contact me on 0411 327460 as I'm not on here much. Van is in Caloundra.
  9. Early KE30s with the Jap diff definately had skinnier axles. If you've got a B/W diff the axles may be the same diameter, not sure about the centres.
  10. A problem I've had is the high beam either not working at all or just suddenly going out. The switches can be fiddled with but its probably safer to replace it.
  11. I've had cars with no resonator fitted and it makes stuffall difference. The rear muffler is where it all happens.
  12. I've heard of guys using two head gaskets. Does anyone know if this is a usable alternative??
  13. Gday, on the KE55 gauge problem, there is a small regulator that screws on the back of the instrument cluster that plays up and makes the gauges work intermittently or not at all. Replace this and your gauges will work just like new!! A good start with poor idling when warm is to check the manifold bolts. There should be 6, check they're all there and tight. I've had cars still running with 3 bolts loose or missing.
  14. You should be able to score a new screen for about $200 fitted. Keep ringing around. Coupe screens are slightly wider than sedans and wont fit. By wider I mean higher! Screen rubbers can cost as much as the glass new. I've got an as new rubber you can have for $45 plus post. PM me or call 0411 327460 if interested.
  15. From memory it depends wether the 3K was originally in a KE20 or KE30. They used a different sump for each model and the pickups change with each sump. I had some fun with these many years ago!
  16. I was told many years ago that 4dr sedans were assembled in oz, but wagons, coupes, PVs etc were fully imported. Another clue could be on the comp plate some say made in Japan, while others say AMI. I think the AMI ones were assembled in oz in Pt Melbourne and the others were fully imported. Not sure about this but what I was told.
  17. I thought those SLs wernt just my imagination! I had a few of these back in the 80's.
  18. From memory didnt the KE20 SL model come out with factory extractors and a tacho mounted on top of the dash??
  19. Nothing wrong with that!! Chase up a 5K, drop it in and off you go!! Otherwise buy one of the cars for sale here with lots more Kilowatts. Its cheaper to buy one already done than doing one yourself.
  20. don't rule out popped head gasket, somewhere between 3rd and 4th!!
  21. Gday you can get good replacement regs from me, so long as you have either a KE 30, 55 or 70 series.
  22. Yeah if you're gonna do this you'd want to leave the shifter behind! Wish I lived in Adelaide! (Only sometimes!!) Did once many years ago. Can someone pull these boxes out and send them to me?? I'll give you one carton of warm Southwark beer!
