  1. That colour looks awesome mate, The whole car looks awesome in the photochop version. Also if you have plently of time up your sleeve, I'm sure three months is not unreasonable, specially if your looking to burn some rubber off drifting. From what I have learnt most mechanical peoples seem to say everything is a big job but when things are broken down into weekends it amazing how fast builds come togther. Good luck with it keen to see the finished project. Cheers Jacob
  2. Hi All, Finally something has been doing with the car. (uni seems to take all my time away) Well it was rego'd for another year but was skimping on the brake test. So after some mucking around i have ended up putting in new rear wheel cylinders, new shoes and a new brake master. I'm quickly learning that with old cars when one thing is stuffed there is normally 10 more you didn't expect  .haha. In the end i got some good brakes (as good a rolla brakes get anyway). The next thing is some ke70 calipers and some bendix front pads. Then i'll be looking to get some good rubber underneath.also got to chuck in new idler arms, tie rod end and pitman arm yah for some less steering play. I'll keep things updated. Cheers, Jacob
  3. After looking at the chopped supra i thought i'd add some more "blasfemy". i think i get a bit bored on photoshop sometimes. enjoy a laugh.
  4. Hey Mate I'm only new on here too, but i have learnt heaps buy asking the right questions. As a result my KE 35 corolla build has gone heaps smoother. Here's a link to the faq sheet 'how to build a tough K motor' its really useful. CLICK HERE Basically though a 4k will probably never have mind blowing power. so start saving and do a conversion. If however your a p plater like me your stuck with a 4k. So to start here are a few basics - get some extracters - some sort of different carbie, there's heaps on this in the link. - get the engine serviced (do all the filters makes a big difference), they are old tired engines most of the time. - manual box if it's an auto. 4 speeds aren't that bad, but 5 speeds cruise alot easier. your likely though to do a bit of modification depending on what five speed box you end up getting. If you need more info though you need to answer these questions or at least give some similar info. - what are you using the car for? eg Track, daily driver, Drift pig for stuffing around in the wet because old corolla's are rwd (not recommended, but hey I'm not judging). - whats is your budget? -how much work can you do yourself? Cheers, Jacob
  5. Thanks Heaps to all. :bash: you have pretty much cleared up all of my concerns with the build. looks like i might be trying to grab a spare diff to get the welder onto. Sounds like ive got some hunting to do, wreckers here i come. Thanks for the info silverra23 ,looks like an impressive build i have been reading your thread for some motivation. and yeah i think i will go the ke35 rotor set up you were talking about. also i didn't mean my car had springs in the rear i must have wrote something a bit odd. This sounds like some fun to install but also looks like it will be a winner. Here's my rides thread and where all my cash seems to go and will probably continue to go. :y: CLICK HERE I'm looking to have the car up and racing or at least testing by the end of the year. aiming to get to the first hill climb meet next year. anyone else go to grafton by any chance? Cheers, Jacob
  6. Hi all I own a 1975 ke35 which is going to be used for hill climb racing i am in the process of organizing my suspension and brake upgrades and need some questions answered. Also i can do the work myself but at the moment I'm am trying to reduce the amount of potential hiccups that occur in a build. I have been doing my research and would like some of peoples experiences with what i have thought could be a good set up. Here goes; Front struts I have read plently about using xt130 front corona struts for bigger disc size but i have come across a few problems so i don't really hand over money to the wreckers yet. - will the struts fit inside the strut tower of the corolla ? if not how much mucking around is involved in welding in the corolla spring seat ? - also is it really worth all the trouble or should i just put some really good pads in the existing set up? Negative Camber -Should i bother putting in xt130 lower control arms or will i just scrap out my tyres heaps with no real cornering gain? what are peoples experiences Springs & Leafs I have heard of people using 6kg sierra, cut falcon (trying to avoid this) and various lowered springs like king springs. Considering i want the car to handle not bounce all over the place when i hit a bump what should i go for ? also keeping in mind I'm looking at hillclimb (tight corners), not trying to build a 4k drift pig. Again same with the leafs i don't want steel bars that make the back end skip around, but need stiff enough to reduce body roll. i am looking at resetting plus add a leaf (five all up) will this be to stiff or about right? Shocks I know i may be crucified by some, but will heavy duty monroe's suffice. Ive heard of commo rear wagon shocks and mucking around with expensive inserts with ae86 stuff but is there any real gain that I'm likely to be dissapointed if i go the cheaper option? Basically looking for a decent set that will fit all round. Swaybars Basically i probably won't run a locker so how big should i have the rear sway bars before i spin out with one wheel around tight stuff. should i just run a locker, deal with it and go big swaybar in the rear? hopefully someone can give me a few answers to my confusion. i think it's a case of way to many options. :bash: Cheers
  7. I had the same problem by just not having my dizzy cap on properly.
  8. Hi all I have been sick of looking at unpainted & trimless doors so i got to work and came up with and el cheapo (probably not legal ) solution to missing a door card trim. also matched it up with the existing interior. instead of looking for a new card i just painted them. still got to put some rubbers in to hold the window steady but this is how it looks so far. The boring crap looking doors. That black sealent stuff goes everywhere and sticks to everything when you hit it with the angle grinder and wire brush. All painted (also i have got rid of the over spray on the window) and installed
  9. Thanks Taz_Rx Yeah i think when i get around to it i will install the ones like the sparco set you had a link to. also i'll attach some stainless wire to them and loop it under the bonnet. Cheers Jacob
  10. Thanks for the comments. Yeah ive had the same problem with trucks and when i pull my foot of the gas sitting on about 100. i'll have to look into the ones with the wire but i could probably crimp some stano wire on there i spose. good idea though because they probably would get flogged by some idiot. Cheers Jacob Hi all i have finally had to put the car back together (mixed colour panels looks real class :) ). gave the new motor and box a work out though and so far everything seems to be holding out.
  11. Thinking of mabye putting in some hood lock pins. a bit worried about mashing up my bonnet but i like the look. if also had the bonnet pop up a bit (not fully up though) when driving along which was a scary noise. something along these lines Any recommendations?
  12. Well here it is with the final coat of paint on the body (still got the panels to go :P ). still needs a cut and polish but i reckon it looks pretty good. Here a couple of pics of the car and also a pic of the plate i have made up for the gearbox tunnel isn't fitted yet. Final coat still with paper and everything on. Finalcoat with some chrome back on. Gearbox plate and random oil pressure gauge my mate gave me, yet to be fitted. sorry about the state of the interior at the moment (wouldn't have any if it was legal :hmm: ). What do you reckon?
  13. It is really similar to the ford purple but i just picked it out at the paint shop.also its a flat colour not metalic.
  14. Thanks all for the info. ke 3x screens wont fit bugger. :y: the screen unfortunately has one single crack slowly creeping down the middle of the windscreen. it wont pass rego in a months time so it needs to be replaced. figure i better start looking for one now as they aren't the easiest item to find (at least not within in close travelling distance from me). Thanks again for the info Cheers Jacob
  15. Hi all I need to replace my front windscreen on my ke35 and as they aren't very common i wanted to know if any other corolla screens would fit it. i know KE 3x front panels can be swaped so hopefully I'm in luck with the windscreen. Cheers
  16. Nearly forgot to add that I'm hunting a for a manifold to suit twin 1 1/4'' su's for a 4K engine, if any one has a spare or knows where i could get one. Apparently not mega common. It was a pretty sweet find. talking to my unckle about carbies and he tells me has some su's just sitting under his bench. so if i can get a manifold the rolla might be a bit quicker lol.
  17. Yeah it's deep purple. glad you like the colour. cheers
  18. Quick update. Finally i got some coloured paint onto the car today :y: . back at uni now and have been slowed right down with my progress. it's not perfect but it's the first time ive ever taken on panel beating and a full bare metal respray so i learnt heaps whilst doing it (still got the panels to do). got two more coats to go but tell us what you think. Undercoated and ready to spray. What it looks like with the first coat. Tell us what you think so far. :no2:
  19. Depending on where you are located i have a spare running 4k-c carbie sitting at home.
  20. Thanks heaps for the info. looks like i'll just wait till i find a manifold. still got plently of other work to do in the mean time. Cheers Jacob
  21. Probably a stupid question but what are DCOE's. also just had a look on ebay and it seems twin weber manifolds to suit a 4k are much easier to come buy.
  22. Cheers for the info. i wouldn't mind twin webers but i still want to conserve some fuel and my wallet. I'm not in any great rush to put them on so should be able to source a manifold if you can still get them. Does anybody know how much of a difference running twin su's made to there car ?
  23. Hi there Just a question regarding twin su's. today i was told i could have a pair of 1 1/4 inch su's if they fitted my car. just wanting to know if they'd be suitable for my 4k engine. also can you get manifold's to suit the engine or would i need a custom made manifold? Cheers Jacob
