  1. Yeah just put a brand new radiator & thermostat in today and still sits on halfway (double what it normally did) but doesn't seem to get any hotter. your problem sounds almost exactly the same as mine. I'm leaning towards a shot water pump now so that will be getting replaced asap this leaves me with not many other options other then the head gasket. tell me how you go with your issues.
  2. I used Septone chassis black paint to do all the guards on mine, cheap as and does a really good also can paint it on with a brush. my mate also uses it on his old torana's and it works a treat even after some wear. there are some pics in my rides tread of it.
  3. Yep a new thermostat is going back in tomorrow. just was checking if that was the issue, turns out it wasn't. but yeah I to have been fiddling around the edges until today. Went and got a brand new radiator for it, so will put it in tomorrow morning and see how it goes. also did a quick CO2 test which didn't show up anything. Thanks everyone for there comments I'm sure this will help someone else as much as me aswell, I'll keep you all posted on how things go with the new radiator cheers, Jacob
  4. yes running a fan shroud, yes tried coolant, no there is not water in the sump. Hmm the bit about excess pressure is a bit alarming and yeah my car is running fine also. so yeah that seems like a similar situation Cheers for the ideas so far
  5. Well my little 4k seems to not be liking me at the moment and has decided it wants to start getting hot argghhhh. anyway so far i have started the process of elimination to the find out if the final outcome is a blown head gasket. this is how far i have got, including reading as many threads as i could What it seems to be doing is heating the water enough to build up pressure and almost fill the overflow bottle everytime i drive it. my daily drive is 45km and for the most part 100km/h so i would have imagined that if it has a blown head it would be getting hot along way before that. now the temp needle itself is sitting a bit above halfway (alot hotter the i ever remembered) after driving the whole way to work, which is also more then what most people have seem to posted in other threads. I have also looked at the Rad core and it seems to be alright (this may be the problem?) - So first thing i did was flush the radiator and put some of the cooling treatment stuff through it, no luck - also don't seem to be getting excessive bubbles from the rad when i take the cap of and start it - did a pressure test on the system, didn't drop pressure so probably not leaking - then replaced the radiator cap, marginal improvement - The oil in the sump is not milky, but there is the slightest bit of moisture on the oil cap on the rocker cover? -then pulled out the thermostat and gutted it, went for a good drive and thrashed it to get the temp up which sate a fraction above halfway. then i pulled in back home and let it idle, temp started to go way up. So thats were I'm at. going to try a carbon dioxide test tomorrow and see if that shows anything. Can anyone point out something obvious i should check ? could it be as simple as a new Radiator or is it looking like the head will have to come off and see whats doing?
  6. haha that's the best looking garden edging i have seen then. probably won't need close up shots then.lol
  7. Cheers all for the kind comments much appreciated. Now I have to put some rubber on the jelly bean mags and it should really set it off. then it's off to focus on the handling a bit more (money money & more money lol). Also thought i'd add that JIP's Lolla the yellow rolla lives on in this car, a few of it's part were put on this one

    Done

Hey, car looking great a mega inspiration for all Rolla lovers and car nuts a like. I was a lucky young fella that's been for a cruise in the weapon. It is really normal for handling and actually performs very impressively. and damn does it move!!!! Cheers
  9. Mega and glorious day for the rolla, finally painted   . yeah it's not a show car but it's mine and i like it. there are a couple of little things but I'm happy with it for the first car i ever restored. here is some pics (feat. little bro in car)what do ya's reckon? any chance of it slipping into car of the year lol cheers enjoy
  10. Car looks tuff as mate, like the look a lot. I am trying to make a front lip up for my ke35 and want to know if you would be kind enough to send me some closer shots of the front lip you have got.
  11. Cheers fella's, Rollaclub continues to motivate me with all the awesome projects and hopefully mine continues to return the favour. also as a general comment i have learnt a huge amount about rolla things from this website. younger brother is getting into suzuki sierra's and he always says he would like a site as good as this
  12. Been doing some more work on the rolla and so far have painted everything, now only needing a final coat on the bonnet. So close to putting all the panels back on but looking good so far Also started painting under all the guards before i put the front end together, basically revomed all old and flaking paint the sprayed it with penetrol to seal up. finally the bichamus black stuff was painted over with a brush to give it some texture. here are some pics so far before paint, had to remove a lot of old paint then it was coated with penetrol to seel it up first. After, cleans things up a lot Preview of the bonnet, also thinking of adding some purple strips to key it in with the rest of the car. A bit of fun, getto spec rolla before it went back in the shed for the arvo
  13. yeh i heard the same thing meaning these things would actually restrict flow at higher rpm, hahaha :)
  14. These are the design I'm tossing up between. maybe hybrid between? mainly looking to make something that fits up to existing frame work of car most probably bottom of beaver panel (or what ever you want to call it) probs leaning more towards this as it is subtle (excuse the datsun numberplate ) fairly aggressive but maybe anyway what do ya's think, any more design would be good also
  15. Hey all I'm looking at making a front lip for my ke35 but not real sure of exactly what i want design wise. I also thought considering i will be making one i can probs make a few extra at the same time if more people want them because it's easy once you got the mold. So want i want to establish is what are some designs people would like, hopefully from this i can decide on a good looking one for myself. I also have been told from the person that will be helping me make them i can easily build them from a carbon fibre/kevlar wrap obviously more expensive then normal fibre glass though. So yeah what are some design people like and some pictures would be great (i have seen a fair few on the site but don't want to steal peoples photos without permission). Cheers Jacob
  16. Well project rolla is starting to come along a bit more. Today replaced all of the steering components from the steering box to the struts (everything was pretty much stuffed except the steering box which was perfect). The panels are starting to get ready to go back on, nearly up to final coat. Bonnet pins are fitted and look fantastic (will write a tech thread for anyone wanting to do this as i got heaps of pics), just gotta paint the bonnet. Plans are new shocks and springs all round, cusco camber tops (maybe strut brace as well), whiteline rear sway bar, fit mags with four new tyres, then it should be handling alright
  17. If it helps at all whiteline make a whole rear sway bar kit ready to go straight in that I'm about to purchase for my ke35 (also do the fronts aswell). that with the bolts and everything to attach to the diff but I'm guessing you already have the mounts on the diff. So at least you know you can get one for it also K mac (i can't remeber how to spell it) make a swaybar for corolla but they are more expensive.
  18. here it is quick job but you get the idea With wheels (real dodgy)
  19. When you get really bored it's a lot of fun to muck around with. Should start a photo chopped Rolla thread, here is another chop
  20. Bit of an update, been playing around with the bonnet pins and trying to fit them. It seems a bit of a task to get right. Also been doing some more spraying, finally got some colour happening. Getting ever closer to getting out of the multicolour car club. :) , also saving up some cash to restore the standard and a bit more suspension upgrade. It's been a bit slow but getting there Nearly fitted, note bonnet is yet to be painted Some purple yeah!!! , 1st coat at least
  21. ^^^^^^ This is awesome, can have heaps of fun with it
  22. got a bit bored so improved the look slightly Shaved
  23. Here it is
  24. Went to sit down for lunch today after working on the rolla, flicked on the TV and there was a full screen shot of a blue 2 door KE30. Was from the 1984 movie "Firestarter" right at the end of the film probs about only 2 minutes from the end. EDIT : Just found this YOUTUBE VID OF ROLLA IN MOVIE The car is at 6:22 of this clip
  25. Yeah painted it with enamel, I'm on the cheap arse budget build, trying to save more money for better things like suspension If it's any condolences the last time i had to bleed my brakes ended up replacing the master cylinder as couldn't get pressure, then had a second crack at it and found the pipe from the brake fluid pot was slighty split and sucking air into the system, hopefully you have better luck
