I have some spare of a borgy diff if you want a trip down the coast

Nice project mate welcome to Rollaclub, hope to see more progress of the beasty. I had a similar problem with my KE35 when i was doing a 4 speed manual to 5 speed from a ke70. The mounts didn't line up either but all i had to do was just re drill the holes and it fitted. But seeing as you are going from auto to manual I'm not sure if the same applies though.

My Ke55 Need All The Info I Can Get Please :)

Nice coupe you got there mate This is a link to "How to build a tough K engine" i'd assume you car has got a 4k engine CLICK HERE Basically though you find you will get the most immediate benefits buy just giving the engine a really good service, or at least that's what i found Here a few things to start with - spark plugs -Air filter, oil filter & fuel filter - Oil change (HPR 30 is good in my opinion) - make sure all your points are cleaned and your distributer leads are in good condition Then from there you may want - Get rid of the auto and convert to manual - Extractors - Bigger carbie such as a weber From here the list just gets bigger and more expensive, you'll probably find that there is a tonne of stuff that needs doing before you get to the engine though If you need more info just start to read more of the FAQ sheets and as a hint the engine in your car is pretty much the same as every corolla from 1974 to 1982 Also some other things that may be helpful to know is: - What sort of budget do you have ( be honest) ? - What are you going to be using the car for ? -What expectations do you have power wise ? -
Saw this car a couple of days ago, looks like a great project so far with plently more to come, sound deadening looks tops :2thumbs: also i reckon leave the lip unpainted, as we were discussing the other day about the stone chip. I went and looked at my front apron that i am about to paint and it was hammered with stone chips

Been traveling around a bit lately gathering a few more parts and also have been doing a bit of undercoating, keen as to get it finished soon. What do you reckon? New parts from none other then ebay.lol Preping the not very straight doors. although that bog is not very thick Undercoated, today Perfectly straight front guards, :2thumbs: just need a light rub back. Wheels 14x6 nice and wide, with good amount of dish ( at least compared to stockies) Cheers Jacob PS what do you's think

Are the speakers different sizes (one round one oval?) or is that just the angle of the photo. By the way the car looks like it will be a sweet ride when finished, goodluck with it

The Ultimate In Useless Car Styling
crispyke35 replied to crispyke35's topic in Automotive Discussion
Yeah the last owner of my car thought that a monster tacho was a good idea with a stock 4k  . Now in my ownership it will be getting removed, currently though has a large sock over it. -
Hey all :lolcry: After slaving away at uni for the past few months the corolla has hardly seen the light of day, so when i finished for the semester i was glad to get the beast back out for some serious work. When first getting it out of the shed i noticed i last left it with much not fuel, then came to the realisation the only fuel station in town had shut down, bugger. So i ran the risk and drove it to the nearest station out the road. I got within about 500m then it conked out and managed to coast a bit, the last 100m was left for me to push it into the petrol station along a main road. fun times. Well since last week in between working i have been getting a bit done ( and sorting out what needs to be done, I hate this part cause it sends me broke). As it was i had half finished the spray job and needed to do the removable panels, so been working on them. But not to let anyone down with lack of mistakes by myself i have another story. Went to pick up some parts for the car today (steering box + components, Borg warner diff and tailshaft, and front guard). All was going great then I got home and was getting the front guard out when looked at it and realised i had got the wrong side brilllant mistake by me :lolcry: , so being as I'm a bit remote I will be now doing another 510km trip to get the right one (they are overrated though).hahaha Anyway the rolla will be getting a big cosmetic and suspension make over soon, hopefully i will end up with something very fun, so check out this thread over the coming months

^^^ why would it be an overkill, maybe a bit heavier but you would never break anything again. buy the way your rolla looks awesome 78_7krolla
-
yeah cheers fella's that is very helpful. I'll see how i go now that you have helped me get my head around offsets and wheel spacing. Regards Jacob
-
Glad to see the project goes on, I'm in the same situation gotta replace all the steering linkages on my KE35. only wish it was as overrated as yours
-
Thanks for the info, i don't really want to run spacers if i can avoid seems like i have to go something with a whole smaller offset
-
Hi Simple question that i can't for the life of me figure out. will this offset be any good for a KE35 114.3 15 x 6.5 +35. Thanks #Edit I think i may have answered this question myself the answer being that will look crap as they are FWD offset :) I think i need something less then +20 ? :D

Was trying to track down some bonnet locks for my ke35 and found these. CLICK HERE Had a bit of a laugh specially cause they are a buck cheaper then the real thing. DECORATIVE HOOD LOCKS :jamie:
-
I'm pretty sure but don't quote me for it but i was looking at rebuilding my 4k and found out a company that you can get a fully rebuilt engine for about 1200 in exchange for your existing engine. also they were cheaper if you only wanted a short engine (good idea if you wanted double valve springs and head porting). It was a company Like Gem engines similar exchange system.

choice three. although the rims might not stand out without a chrome lip. still I'm sticking with choice three they go would nice with the colour car you got. not too flashy and not too wanker ish. *Edit choice two like everyone has said. i looked at the wrong numbers woops, either way the black ones with the red lip
-
By the way keep up the good work on the car it looks great. also mucking around on photoshop keeps me sane whilst hanging to do work on my own rolla (bloody university ah well might get some good cash once i finish haha)

Pretty cool, but seriously how do you compete with the original. Love it how he just casually puts his hand up to block out the sun, whilst just smashing along and engine revving it's ball of.
-
If it helps at all when i first bought my rolla ( 75 ke35) it had an el stocko 4k with a 4 speed. I drove the thing 8 hours straight to get it home from newcastle and the exhaust was exiting just after the manifold. i drove it highway at speed all the way back and the bloke that owned it before me drove it 110km/hr to gosford every week. I then proceeded to drive it to uni which required going up and down hills for about 60km each day of which the rolla had no issues and pulled away from my mates dato 120y with ease and kept up with other cars no probs. also it sounds as though it will explode but they smash up hills in third but i wouldn't say that it would be very good for engine longitivity.

Hi Mate Another product you can use that acts like a primer is 'Rust plus'. It is green looking stuff (looks identical to the phosphuric acid rust converters) that you wipe on and leave it to dry. Once it's dry you can either leave it on and paint over it if you have bare metal or wipe it off with metho. I would recommend wiping it of but i have a mate who restores cars all the time and he leaves it on. But still once you painted put the fish oil on it, apparently sump oil works good too. The rust plus stuff just creates a seal that stops rust from developing under your paint, or at least limits it as much as possible. Cheers Jacob

Here it is. if you want it darker lighter our any other colour it only takes a second. can also remove graphics add graphics etc.
-
Here's one a bit darker. sorta shaded it a bit to match the A1 logo on the side By the way the car looks cool. what sort of race usage does it get.
