  1. Jade I'm not sure where you are but I've seen a fair few of these grills at wreckers in vic.
  2. I want to employ my friend Newton. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. So agreed the lower the centre of gravity the less roll. disagreed dropping it 4 inches is the answer! Consider unsprung weight (wheels). Tyre choice/profile. And my Fav see a real spring specialist. stiffen those bastards up with a two inch drop, stop all the twist with braces and cross chassis bars and I guarantee you'll go around corners fast enough to make your fillings fall out! Oh and a great big F^&k off sway bar to absorb the torsional twist.
  3. Mesh? I don't think i understand the question. The grill itself looks A1 stock. I know in the 70's toyota used to play with the grills on different spec cars. I had an MX32 with a tooth type grill and the lower spec had mesh. The KE35 I've got is an SE. perhaps the CS has a different grill? Oh and a message for EWT. Love your coupe hubcaps
  4. Badly. I had to buy a mig welder to repair the sills and LH rear wheel arch. Replaced both front guards. I chopped up the original guards for sheet metal. I don't think it's done that many k's. the original keys came with the car and they're not worn, all the rubbers are A1 and the door locks aren't worn. My guess is 107,000. then again possible 207 or 307 etc.
  5. I'll keep the photos coming. I planned to do the trip in a tarago that I had. One day it got stuck. So that was it. Had to be 4wd and wanted a place to sleep etc. Besides I had to take the bike somehow!

  7. Hey Raven, Yeah it was a heap of Fun. Worked 10 years in the same bloody job and get 3 months paid holidays! Packed car, bike, mrs and 2 dogs. Drove inland up the east coast to rockhampton. From there hugged the coast up to Cairns. The rain was starting to kick in so had to be careful. Tripped across to Broome. In the NT was the bush fire. See a few of them up there but thereis not as much to burn. Went to Wolfe Creek and no the car did not break down. Saw alot of abandoned cars, but no rollas. Just things that look like ex taxis. Got to Broome and camped along beaches to perth. lay on the hammock drinking too much and reading. Taking the bike on the beach. "doin nothing". xmas and new years in south WA and then cruised home. Bike = no probs 'Cruser = 1 shredded tyre and gas fell out the a/c. Not bad for 20,000ks
  8. All, I packed up all last year and did a lap of oz. Rolla would never cut it but I never stray far from the brand.
  9. Hi adrian, Don't mean to stray but I will slightly. ANYTHING can be fit, it's just a question of money. If it has a solid axle it would be reasonably easy. I was down the wreckers last week and noticed Mitsu Starions had solid rear axle and rear discs. Not sure of the ratios available but they'd be cheap and some came with a turbo motor and have the same stud pattern. With diff conversions I think the things to consider are: Weight Stud pattern Ratios available Brake types. Personally I like some of the Jap vans out there. Great ratio choices (for drift stuff) super strong and huge brakes. Same stud pattern. Good luck
  10. When I was working at a Toyota dealership in the 90's these had a habit of throwing a leg out of bed (a rod through the block). I like small quick and reliable and every mechanic in the workshop said stay way clear of these. Saying that cars are a personal choice. If you like, do it. Toyotas are the sh*t. Unfortunatly they occasionally they bring out a dud. This was 1!

I've been using/abusing some of the specs listed. Thanks to all that have gone before. I'll add some of the stuff I know.
  12. C, You say you swapped the battery for one you know is good? It still sounds like the battery is R/S. If the alternator is R/S you're essentially "driving on the battery" which will give you only a short amount of time. Get your hands on a multi meter and put it onto volts. Run the engine and put the positive onto the bit on the back of the alternator where the bolted terminal is and the neg to earth. You should get about 13-14 volts. if it's less the alt is shot. Other thing to consider is the starter solenoid. (little thing attached to the big thing). If it's had it, it can become heat sensitive. So the question is does it only happen when things are hot under the bonnet? Try and break down exactly when it happens and you'll be closer to the solution!! good luck
  13. Yeah, but I'm addicted to stock. It's a "do it yourself" type of place so it'll be cheap. Somebody has spent some money 'cause it's the original 2 piece. Thanks for the help.
  14. Down at my local wreckers is a ke55 with a 4k. It's got a overrated exhaust. I've got a ke35 with a 3k. Is there any difference? Will it bolt straight on from the manifold flange down? If it does I'll be getting rid of a 1 3/4" system with a hot dog and a turbo muffler. it's like driving around with a straight through exhaust. Mrs drives the car and isn't too impressed!!!
