My bad. it wasn't in the forum topic.

Nah.. I'll be on the look out for the occasional wreck in a paddock in Japan. I've seen 'em before over there.

Gavclassic, Yet Another Low Kilometer Find !
Bamboo replied to Gavclassic's topic in Rollaclub Rides
Gav, Green is the colour of envy............... and all of us here are green. I HATE YOU SO MUCH that is a cool ride. One thing in our favour is there is only one of you. You cannot possibly drive 'em all!!! LOL Bamboo -
All I've saved the pennies again and we're off on an adventure. We fly out on Sunday 20 Feb for a 5 week holiday. 3 days in Tokyo, 4 weeks in Europe starting in London and 3 more days in Tokyo. I'll try to post cars I see while I'm on the road. Take care you crazy kids Bamboo

My first. I know you old boys know it. Stupid f@$king questions!!!
-
You probably need to mention WHAT CAR. I know you know, but do we? Dude, I'm not taking it out on you but info is required! Rolla's from 67 to 2010 the worlds most popular car leaves a few options. Sorry

I'm all motivational at the moment. Noodle. See Kangaroosa's thread. My 2 cents I think the FAQ should come up as soon as anyone joins

Me 3. B4 the hoods were big I saw 'em in the cherry tree. For all of you outside of Melb, it's a little club off Flinders lane. (google it) I was in Hawaii a couple of years ago and borrowed a friends car and cruised the main drag with that shit pumping!! so memorable.
-
My 2 cents..... I've got a low k 3k in phooey. The oil light goes off in a nano second & I use a z68......read; if your engine is tight the stock filter is ok.

When the wife said she wanted a civic as a first car she wasn't expecting this. 77,000 k original with a 2 speed honda matic. Have since upgraded and passed this beast onto the sister. I still get the "privilege" of servicing it!! I had a manual one a long time ago and I drove it off the clock 160km/h plus. Auto has 4.11 final drive Manual has 4.93 final drive with 12" wheels you do the math. REVS! I've still got my original engine in the shed. Mostly stock just toyed with the carb/timing.

Which is the "higher" spec??
-
I've tried to search this but two letters doesn't give great results. KE3X & KE5X came out in two trim specs (I think) CS and SE. There doesn't seem to be a lot of difference. Does anybody know the exact difference?
-
t man..the same engine is in the the sierras. That high dizzy is perfect when crossing a river. Different strokes 4 different folks!
-
The thing I like about the suzi engines is it's all alloy. Have all the horses in the world but weight is always a factor. I had a standard "well tuned" early civic which I drove off the clock. 160+ according to the speedo. I'd love to see a rolla with an alloy engine!!! I realise this goes against rolla love, but car companies that make bikes KNOW engines!
-
Check out some early Honda sports cars. Bike type engines in cars. I know these have been done in early Civics (my second love). It can and will be done!!

Welcome to the hardtop brotherhood. I think you've got yourself a sleeper. I agree with the carpet thing. You'll find your carpet has faded. (mine has) The original brown/tan would set off the cream interior. Good luck and keep posting. Is it a 4 or 5 speed now? Almost forgot. Those stupid damage strips on the sides. Mine had them as well. Must have been a 70's thing. They've gotta go. Panel beaters used to use them to hide the lines after a repair, but I HATE 'em.

And I love giving Evan the shits...LOL Be cool E

Another thought. Sometimes headgaskets only blow one way from piston to cooling system. seems fine but compression can build up in the cooling system and make excess pressure. other alternative is an extremely f@$ked rad cap. highly unlikely but possible
-
Nah don't chuck the callipers. It's the easiest rebuild! To push a piston out without an airgun, just remove one calliper only and pump the pedal. the piston should just "pop" out. and see above for the rest. Piston ok? seal kit and rubber grease. make sure you push the pistons in slightly on the cock so it doesn't jam! new piston? just more $$$ but again it isn't difficult.

Efficiency And Safety Of Oil "stop Leak" Additives
Bamboo replied to Tham's topic in Automotive Discussion
I'm sure you all know this, but I'll say it anyway. Make sure you "tap" down all the bolt holes to make the sump surface flat again. I find the ball from a ballpein hammer and a piece of wood underneath works well. Heat resistant red sealant and the cork gasket. NONE of my sumps leak!! How tight? When you see the gasket just starting to spread...tight enough good luck all -
Don't know how to fit ...but the wiring will be easy.
-
You da Man!!! Thanks, i was hoping they were. About the same year as my hardtop so keeps with my almost original theme!! The bloke at the wreckers figured they were non genuine and charged me the non gen price!!
-
Nice ride. I think they used to race 'em, so you can always hot rod it. I've been under a couple and the rust point seemed to be the spare wheel well, like most cars. yours looks overrated.
-
lol, perhaps the next cruise should start in the centre road car park. we all seem to be there
-
I was down at centre road wreckers today and found 4 hubcaps in the boot of a 78 Crown. I not sure if they are crown caps. The look datsunish. They haven't got any numbers or markings on them. They're all metal 14inch. Can you help identify? I'm thinking about putting on the coupe. I've just gotta get 14 inch rims and tyres for it now Save save save
