ke30corolla.coupe Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 hi all I'm new to corollas and I'm looking for advice on what the best motor to put in my ke30 it must be able to bolt up to a ke55 auto trans and be legal to go straight through rego with no engineers certificates any help would be greatly appreciaated :) Quote
irokin Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 Short answer is there arent any. You really need an engineers certificate for any non-standard engine that wasnt a factory option. Quote
ke30corolla.coupe Posted October 26, 2006 Author Report Posted October 26, 2006 i wasnt after a non standard engine just a 3,4 or 5 k which is the best of these to use and will they straight bolt up to a ke 55 auto tranny Quote
ancullen Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 Then a 3K is the only answer then, as the 5K was never released in a Corolla, and the 4K wasn't available until the KE55 (I don't think so anyway). Quote
ke30corolla.coupe Posted October 26, 2006 Author Report Posted October 26, 2006 cheers looks like ill just have to make my 3k go a little better as i want to keep my car as close to original as possible Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 Pretty sure in NSW you don't need an engineer's certificate for capacity increases less than 15%. Not sure what the regs are like in Victoria though Quote
kickn5k Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 (edited) Yes as i have just recentlly found out i do need an engineers for my ke11 with a 5k. but i think it is just the Bad luck i coped a person that new what they were on about. i know of at least 6 or 7 corollas with 5k power no engineers, just my luck i guess and a cert is only $450 cheap peace of mind i think. Let you know how i go. Edited October 28, 2006 by kickn5k Quote
ke30corolla.coupe Posted October 28, 2006 Author Report Posted October 28, 2006 $450 for an engineers certificate migt be worth putting in a bigger motor afterall i assumed it would cost alot more Quote
irokin Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 A 5K is gonna be your limit then, unless youve got about a grand to spend on a 7K. Quote
ke30corolla.coupe Posted October 28, 2006 Author Report Posted October 28, 2006 5k sounds alot better than my 3k id be happy with a 1.4 litre instead of my 1.2 as I'm not after a big power increase just make it a bit more spirited Quote
jamesrolla Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 my ke11 has a 4k in it and when i went to ge tthe rego check done the guy told me to just change the engine number on the rego sheets and say that i just did an engine swap instead of a conversion Quote
