LittleRedSpirit Posted March 14, 2007 Report Posted March 14, 2007 Yall seen this before? http://www.toysport.com/New%20Products/Atlantic.htm Quote
lammi Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 Crankshaft (Atlantic Series Spec) $ 5,358.00 Holy hell, is that USD as well Quote
Jono Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 yeah, full sic and no warranty! surely one would be better off turboing a gze on high boost? Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted March 15, 2007 Author Report Posted March 15, 2007 (edited) I'm not saying buy it, I'm just saying, if you want to build a full house 4a then there is some cash to be spent. Makes a stock 20v all insecure when u read that pricelist. Yes US dollars too. 10 grand on a 1.6 atmo motor is crazy, even if it will make 240hp. Oh and that page probably hasnt been updated since 2000 when formula atlantic 4ages were being phased out. Edited March 15, 2007 by LittleRedSpirit Quote
Jono Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 yeah, its definately for race teams with sponsorshit. Quote
ancullen Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 Hasslelgren Engineering still has some full spec 4A-GE's for sale (http://www.hasselgren.com/products.html). They were the main engine supplier for Formula Atlantic before the switch to the Mazda MZR 2.3L engine. They have four fresh engines available, or two second-hand ones - one at US$25,000, the second for US$30,000. Or you could simply buy a whole secondhand Formula Atlantic car. Here's some for your viewing pleasure: http://www.race-cars.com/carsales/formulaatlantic.htm. Quote
ancullen Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 Oh yeah, Hasselgren have also put a Formula Atlantic spec 4A-GE into an AE86 Corolla and gone drifting. It makes 260hp, and they're planning a 400hp turbo version. http://www.hasselgren.com/drift.htm Quote
love ke70 Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 and why would you bother? just turbo it and make the power alot easier and alot safer for alot less money. Quote
Jason Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 phhh, for the price of the crankshaft you could get a 20b....... Quote
Raven Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 Or you could just get an F20C that will make 240HP stock without mods....:P Quote
ancullen Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Meh, for the money I'd build either an F20C or a 3S-GE up to 300hp naturally aspirated. And if I was obsessed with having the ultimate 4A-GE variant, but wasn't fussed about natural or forced induction, then a 400-500hp 4A-GTE (or 7A-GTE) would be the go. Quote
