ancullen Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 What GT40 are you talking about...? My best time in the Corolla on Sunday was a 1min39.1, but that was timed with a Dorian, not hand-timed like my previous time of 1min38, so it's more accurate. The only modifications to the car (aside from Sportivo muffler, suspension, and spoiler) were 195/50 R15 tyres instead of 195/60 R15's, resulting in slightly better accleration, and I removed the tow ball and tongue. The streetcar shootout is just based on consistency, not the quickest lap time. I haven't got all the results, but each race is out of 50 points, and in the first race I got 29, the second race I came first with 41 points, zero in the third race, and I don't know about the fourth race but it was obviously good.
wasfishing Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 maybe i should go in the street car shootout wen I'm finally ready (hopfully the upcoming meet) Gt40 is Udo's one used to lapsprint the red bowel nagari.
ancullen Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 I didn't know you knew him. I haven't met him, but I've admired the Bolwell on multiple occasions, and had heard that he was buying/building a GT40 replica. The only issue I have with the streetcar shootout is the cost - it cost me $104 in total - $44 entry, $20 for half a pit bay, $40 to hire the Dorian. I will be buying a Dorian at some point (for $440), so my costs will come down slightly. Lapsprinting is cheaper, as entry is only $20 (I think), and you don't need the Dorian. And at this meet they started giving out medals for the three people with the fastest laps. Third was an RA23 Celica doing 1min43's, so I could have got a medal for that if I'd been entered. Second was a HQ, and first was Pocock in his Escort, and I'm not sure how fast they were lapping - the times won't be posted on Natsoft for a couple of days yet.
wasfishing Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 lapsprints looks better than i can get a medal, I'm goin to get bendex gold or ultimate whateva ther called brake pads for the front so hopefully i can stop better and there fairly cheap. Just ordered suspention bit $260 for sum liltle bits dam it, and also getting the lower ball joints and other stuff done and steering rack is another $650 to be rebuilt so thats next pay. Yea Udo is my mates dad his bowell was nice but the gt40 is nicer its getting there few more months now i recon can't wait to go for a ride in it! Saw daniel (sprinter) the other day and he was drowling over the MR2, i had the spoiler off and now that its all smicko again mmmmm......
ancullen Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 The only real issue with the lapsprints is how inaccurate the timing is. Most of the time it's WAY off.
ancullen Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 LOL. You should be able to do about a 1.36-37min time with your car without any mods. With extra grunt and some minor suspension improvements there's no reason why a 1.34-35 isn't possible.
ancullen Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Due to the V8 Supercars, the next meet isn't until August 5. But due to the Rejex Rally, many people (myself included) won't be attending, so it's a lapsprint meet only. There is then another race meet on August 26, which will be a full program again.
ancullen Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Hell yeah. Probably be the last year I take the Starlet though. After that last motorkhana performance I think we'll get beaten this year. Next year I hope to have the AE71 ready to rock and roll. :sob:
wasfishing Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 sweet i can't wait to giv u a run at the motakana, i properly raced a 03 wrx the other nite i can launch so hard and hav it though to 4th but then he just catches me and wins. 6K launches FTW
ancullen Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 (edited) YOU HAD HIM THROUGH TO 4TH!?!?! That's f@$king AWESOME!!! And you still don't have the pulley installed - imaging what it will be like then! I can't launch nearly that hard - or at least I don't dare to, cause I'll probably break the diff again. Plus it'll spin the tyres too easily as I don't have the benefit of a rearwards weight bias. In fact, most of my weight is definitely over the front, proabably something like 55/45 whereas yours would be the other way around. I'm so buying that MR2 if you ever decide to sell. In fact, if you want to swap for the MR2 + some cash for the black Corolla I'm up for that. :sob: Edited May 29, 2007 by ancullen
wasfishing Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Yea that was tones of fun felt the front lifting up as the power went down didnt spin much either. mmm not readi to sell yet, just out of interest how much extra cash would you want?
ancullen Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 (edited) I don't know - $3000-4000 maybe? It cost me $19,000, and is worth about $13,000-14,000 now. Edited May 29, 2007 by ancullen
