Ke55 Help Information

I can't really find a HEAP of information about KE55's over the internet, which sucks. Just wondering how much they initially weigh, how many of them were produced, Wether or not if they are rare or common.

By the looks of it I see a fair few of them on this site, so they seem kind of common. Though I'm pretty sure most of them come with the little metal badge on the back left hand side of there boot, it says TRD etc? Toyota Racing Development.

So I am just wondering if anyone can give me pretty good information about my KE55 Hardtop.

Thanks,

they were common in all forms - 2 door hardtop and 4 door sedan

they are now rare in overrated condition $3000 approx rwc rego

some around in good condition $2000 approx rwc rego

loads in crap/rusted/dented condition $500 approx no rwc no rego

id say hardtops would fetch a higher price if you can find someone who would

part with one.

doesnt matter how much they weigh or how much anyones ke55 weighs for

engine conversions or the like. it only matters what the qld code of

practice - light motor vehicles says they weigh. i have this and can post it up

when i get time to look it up.

as for info buy a gregorys manual and google for a while and check some pics out

like has been said.

trd lol havent heard that one before interesting...

well you want to know info...

its an old corolla

FR layout

its light (will give weight when i find it about 850kg)

most have rust and dents

4 cylinder k series motor

seats 4 or 5

manual 4 and 5 speed avaliable

many motor/gearbox/diff conversions possible

live diff, 6 inch 2 pinion non lsd

13 inch rims

recirc ball steering

small disc fronts, drum rears

macpherson strut front, live leaf rear.

and a few other bits, buy the manual and it will tell you the rest

and probably some stuff i got wrong but its a rough idea anyway eh

Nar forget the TRD model the one that you would want to go for would have to be the CS model (Competition Sports)

Highly tuned 4k

cast crank

cast rods

cast pistons (REPCO ??)

compression of around 9.0:1

single carby

intake manifold bolts to extractor (4-2-1) style exhaust manifold

5 speed floor shift

super light weight disc brakes on the front and drums on the back

All this performance crammed into a 950kg body. Or was that 920kg ? Can never remember that bit.......

Sorry if this thread pissed you guys off, I'm fairly new to the forums and mechanics, First year mechanic apprentice as well, so more information I get will help me in the longer run not just for my car but a little for my job. My age has a bit to do with it as well, I might even be the youngest member here, though can't be too sure. Thanks for the information.
