SLO-030 Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Gas mig it or braze them on sounds like it would be a bit better than gasless mig. Could do it the old school way and lead wipe it :y:. Really love the progress. glad to see everythings being done the right way. Quote

Yea, thats how everyone starts out, making do with what they have. I totally forgot about tig. You could braze even with a Bernzamatic propane torchy thing. Might have to ask work nicely to use the tig welder one friday arvo. Really have to strart kissing ass, iv still gotta make my supercharger mounts and now guards :y: Quote
greenmac80 Posted January 7, 2009 Author Report Posted January 7, 2009 (edited) hey all not really an update but i've decided to streamline my car a bit! the rear vents are gonna be shaved!!! thanks to Jaymz this is an approximation. will be straighter of course!! trav_555 Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 fark yea car looks nice man and you have same clarion sticker as me in same spot!!!! yeewwww clarion!!! Quote
JiP Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 It doesn't look too mad but I personally would keep the vents. Better yet stick in KE30 vents, maybe the early ones with the chrome stripe. Quote
bmxsexmonkey Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 DUDE lead wipe that shit! my stepdad is getting his hands on some when he does the body of his commo lol! only prob is that you need a mad ventilation setup appartently! oh and GET ON WITH IT :P Quote
PMP020 Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 how will you be venting the cabin pressure in the car? i think youll be suprised at how much force will be tryin to push out ur rear window when youve got your window down doing 100km/h. cheers, scott Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 We removed the vents from my ke30 a few years back. Cabin pressure is certainly not a problem, mine has new rubbers all round, but you will never get an old car to seal well enough to create a problem. IMO it looks good, but getting the it straight is NOT easy, after stripping mine back to bare metal recently, i have spent 3 weeks of afternoons on each side! Quote
KE30_KE35_KE55 Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 I tried lead wiping the acids and flux's used can for a lot of damage if you don't clean well. lead is also not good for you. With the MIG welder have you considered disposable one litre argoshield gas cylinders . The disposable cylinders cost around $35.50 each no rental. Quote
greenmac80 Posted January 8, 2009 Author Report Posted January 8, 2009 hmm i figure it would be hard! but it beats trying to fix the rust around the petrol filler. and my opinion is that it makes the body look cleaner! but.... i'll be doing it.. i did think that maybe cabin pressure might be a prob maybe some hidden vent behind the bumber bar or something?? i dunno.. but nissan man if you reckon its no biggie then yeah i'll be doing it!! as for the mig... its working so i'll just stick with it!!!
