7shades Posted January 19, 2008 Author Report Posted January 19, 2008 Lexus, yep. Pricetag, nope. RWD, Midsize, Manual, Falcodore price bracket = KILLER Quote
Teddy Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 More so the infulence of lexus vehicles interfeing with the ADM toyota range. Take the Daihatsu Sirion for example; it was taking away manyy echo/yaris sales. (well, from what ive been told anyway), along with the terios & Rav 4. Funny, The ACR40 Camry is exported to the world as a FWD & AWD vehicle. Aurion and camry are both the same pans, Oh feel like a manual? Look at the new v6 Rav 4. Same motor. AWD Manual? :D Quote
7shades Posted January 20, 2008 Author Report Posted January 20, 2008 While I'm sure a manual awd conversion is possible, my point still remains.... why don't TOYOTA just do it.... Quote
Teddy Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 well, that was more my point. They have all the parts avaliable, as to why they wont do it? I'm sure the sprinter would be a popular car if it was FWD back in the day, or only avaliable in Auto. :D Quote
Fat Bastard Customs Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 easy to justify, toyota are the biggest car maker in the world as far as i am aware (by sales anyway) and they didnt get there by catering to performance people, the did it by making reasonibly priced, safe reliable cars jane and joe average, why would they bother making a serious performance camry when even if it kicked arse, all the bogans in this country would still waste their money on holdens and fords? there have been plenty of cars over the years that have been better than falcodores but havent sold coz people in this country seem brainwashed into thinking that ford/holden ar the only ones that can build a decent rwd sedan why bother designing/importing a car that the vast majority of people arent gonna buy anyway? us enthusiests really don't matter in the overall scheme of things unfortunately. And i don't think toyota would like the image that they are catering for younger drivers to wrap themselves around a pole. Quote

I think that Toyota has gone the wrong way over the years, they should've kept the RWD models they had. Not to say that popularity and sales have gone down hill , but every vehicle but the 4/Awd and utes are FWD. Then again there's the Supra, but where is it now(anyone?). How much better if the AE82 twinky was RWD, may sound kinda stupid but man it would be fun. Quote

Hills runs, 7000rpm in 2nd, feathering all the way and only a touch of slide in the back end coz my tyres suck. If I wanted RWD, I would've bought an ae86. Having said that, Toyota should be making more "drivers" cars and yes, big sedans like the Aurion should definitely be RWD. Edited January 29, 2008 by Queen20v Quote
